    Report on-board Warrior

After possibly the worst winter for gales and unsettled weather we have at last come in to a settled period the seas of Chichester are calm. The good news is that the mild south-Westerly air flows all winter kept the sea temperatures high,so high in fact the bass stayed inshore thought out the winter period.

So this is good for our spring fishing ,last year at this time the water was a chilly 3.75 c but this year its nearly 9 c so the sea does not need to warm up to encourage the fish in shore,i predict we will see the first bream very late march or very early April and don’t forget the first ones are the large male fish staking their territory ,so if you want to get a personal best bream this year the best time is early on in the season .

We have done 4 trips this month from our new base Chichester marina it is working out very well so far ,the cafe have provided us with bacon or sausage baps in the mornings and a beer upon our return. Each trip has yielded rays , a mix of blondes, undulates, thorn backs, small eyed and spotted nothing massive yet the best was a 14lb undulate and 10ld small eyed .There has been a few congers mixed in still the odd cod and good chances of spur dogs although we have not landed one yet.

We will keep pursuing rays especially big blonde one until the bream turn up so again if you want to try for the fish of a life time a 20lb plus blonde ray give me a call and ill sort you out a trip from Chichester on Warrior or Shaw thing .
