    Report on-board Leaca Rua

Just few words to keep you updated with what is happening with Kevin and my self.

We have now 20 Spurdogs tagged over the past month. The mackerels are now in. They were in Spiddal for a while but they have now moved (maybe inside the bay?). A lot of them caught around the Island.

There is a lot of baby sandeels in the Galway Bay (an inche long) and a lot of fish are feeding on them. The big sandeel is a great bait at the moment for pollock and ling. There is also a big number of around 15 cm coal fish in the Bay.

The week end was very difficult with this Northerly wind, the following species were caught pollock, ling, cod, dog fish, mackerel, pouting, Ballan Wrasse, coco Wrasse, Spurdog, conger, whiting, haddock, coal fish, sand eels.

Please find attached a photo of a nice ballan wrasse (around 5lb) by a group of french lads fishing with Jig head and lures and light spinning rod
