    Report on-board Flamer IV

FLAMER III November 6th Report - Pat and Kevin Trenchard from Somerset had Flamer III to themselves as the rest of the crew could not make it as their transport broke down on the way to Weymouth. They did well on three marks to the east of Weymouth catching several different species on Ammo mackerel and squid baits. The species included smooth hounds, whiting, black bream, thornback and undulate ray, congers, pollack and the usual pouts and dogs.Pat landed his first ever undulate ray which weighed 12Ib.The successful bait being Ammo mackerel and squid cocktail mounted on a pennel rig.The ray was returned a live.Pat is pictured with his undulate ray.Kevin Trenchard landed the best black bream of the day which weighed 3Ib 12oz.Kevin was using a two hook patonoster rig baited with small strips of Ammo squid and mackerel. The skipper also had a go and caught the best catch of the day a 2Ib 8oz lobster and it tasted very nice.During November the species caught will change as we move into winter but still expect to catch black bream, turbot, brill, bass, rays, congers, cod, bull huss etc on the inshore reef and banks. The offshore wrecks will produce some pollack and may be a bass or two.
