Hi All
After a really productive January that saw fish wherever we went , fishing this weekend has been the toughest yet. A stiff North East wind both days didn't help us in any way. Even traveling lots of miles, and having most of anchor warp out to compensate for the sea conditions ,couldn't prevent the occasional and unavoidable drag. A big cat like Rocket dose take some stopping, when faced in a wind with tide scenario . Quite often its not the anchor its self that slips, but the ground we fish is not always strong enough to hold us. When we did manage a toe hold, the results were not what any skipper hopes for. The whiting seem mostly small ,the Congers are in biblical proportions and most other species have decided to go on a diet. Anyway ,I did what any skipper does. I tried hard ,and eventually it pays off. Yesterday Steve Collins aka Shouty Steve managed his personal best Silver Whiting whilst reefing. I'm taking a couple of weeks off ,and then might have another go to target Spurs on the weekend of Feb 22nd 23rd. Fingers crossed it doesn't blow hard ,so we can head out on the 40m contour and do the business. Tight lines Trev

In the smallest of weather windows between the recent storms. We managed to get out for the Kings Arms Southampton's first match of the year . There was a very big swell in the morning but the glassy seas meant we could do some varied fishing with a inshore reef then slightly more offshore reef followed by inshore bank which between them produced an unbelievable 12 species totally unheard of in late January.They included lots and lots probably too many Whiting , Congers, Smalleyed Rays,Blonde Ray, Smoothound, Spurdog,Black Bream, Quite a Few Bass and a 3 Bearded Rockling. Top 3 on the day

Really nice day out with the Lymington club today, we managed to get out a bit for the slack then come in a bit closer when the tide got going. 7 species on the boat including lots of Whiting, plenty of Congers plus Blonde Rays, Bullhuss and a lovely Bonus Brill!
The Piscary 2025 species hunt has got off to a great start with 17 species on the boat already. Jay Hemming is in the lead with 8
Steve Harder and Ray Barron are joint second on 7 .
Looking at the current forecast not planning on any individual trips at the moment, but as soon as there is a break in the weather will advertise spaces here. If it's a big tide will try for Turbot,Brill and 3 Bearded Rockling, if it's a small tide will be going offshore for Spurs, Bullhuss and Rays. View Boats Page

First round of the 2025 Piscary Super League this week, absolutely stunning conditions for the time of year made for 2 really nice days out.Plenty of fish to be caught but only 8 species over the 2 days.Lots and lots of Whiting but nothing over 2lb , loads of Congers plus the odd bonus Ray , Wrasse and 3 bearded Rockling. Top 3 each day

First 2 matches of 2025 this weekend.Not quite as good fishing as recently but still reasonable for the time of year. First it was the Swan Kings Clear they had a slightly difficult morning due to the unexpected easterly wind and swell but the weather and the fishing picked up in the afternoon, only 5 species but nice Smoothound and some very nice Whiting to nearly 4lb! Top 3 on the day

Today it was the first round of the Piscary Sunday league,with much better conditions managed to get out a little further for the slack and we had a very respectable 9 species! Including . Congers,Smalleyed Ray, Blonde Ray, Undulate Ray, Plenty of nice Whiting and a Bonus Cuckoo Wrasse. Top 3 on the day

Great fishing and weather too.
Plenty of sporting action currently with Whiting ,Congers ,Rays showing themselves on every trip. Sunday saw Rocket head further East than our normal grounds ,and for those aboard wanting to catch Congers it certainly didn't disappoint . We lost count of how many, with takes within seconds of the baits hitting bottom. That type of fishing appeals to some anglers ,but many skippers look for quality rather than quantity. Saying that quality and quantity is the best of both worlds. That is certainly what we experienced the previous weekend with epic Whiting fishing . This Saturday is full ,and I'm now receiving enquiries for Sunday so all going well considering the time of Year. The weekend of 25th 26th Jan should see us head out further to some deeper banks, with Spurdogs and Big Rays being our target specie. We are also doing a trip targeting big Bass on the Thursday and Friday ,and they are now full. A big thank you to everyone that has fished with us ,since my return to angling. Lots have changed over the years, but somethings never change. Its great seeing some old customers come back, and new ones enjoying great fishing. Happy New year everyone. Absolutely stunning day out at sea today, for the annual Piscary Presentation day.This is a free day out for all the prize winners in the various competitions on Piscary for the year . Tried something a little different today, didn't quite go to plan but when you have such good anglers on board it makes the job so much easier.We had a respectable (for the time of year) 8 species including lots of Congers,a few Whiting, Thornback Ray, Pollack and quite a few Bullhuss. So we now have joint leaders in the 2025 species hunt
Paul Hollyoake,Matt Pitter and Ray Barron all on 6 .
At the moment I'm planning on doing an individuals trip this Tuesday the 21st and Friday the 24th possibly offshore anchoring .

Great boating weather over the Christmas period and the fishing was incredibly good !
Lots and lots of really good Whiting, lots and lots of Congers, Quite a lot of Blonde Rays, plus Big Tope ,Spurs, Bullhuss, Smoothouds, Weaver and even some late Bream!
I'm not out again now so I have the results of the Piscary 2024 species hunt the final boat Tally was a bit down on previous years at 55.

Bit of a shame that we couldn't do the last round of the Piscary Super League this week but it was just a little bit too windy for this time of the year, Especially as Ray Barron baked such a wonderful cake for the occasion, we always have cake on the Thursday round of the Super League. After a couple of weeks of no trips due to the horrendous weather we finally managed to get out last week. Fishing was very good with plenty of nice Whiting up to 3lb lots of Congers, the odd Ray, the odd big Smoothound and lots of Bass .Had 2 matches at the weekend, first it was the Kings Arms Southampton, plenty of fish caught but only 6 species.Top 3 on the day
