The tale of the Green net.....
When I bought Brigand down to Brighton the previous skipper Kevin McKie (now operating "Size Matters" out of Plymouuth/Liverpool (great angler, great skipper & great boat so if you are ever down that way hit Kev up) left a huuuuge green net onboard. I mean this thing is massive, almost 4ft across and I have been tripping over it and meaning to take it off the boat for the last 6 months. Yesterday I was so glad I didn't!!! It was pressed into service 3 times for 20lb plus Blonde Ray's, the biggest over 25lb, patiently and skilfully landed by Sam.
I knew we had a chance of a big Blonde but 3 of them at 20lb+ and a cracker over 25lb exceeded expectation. Target species were Brill and Turbot, happy to report that we boated 9 Turbot & 1 Brill up to 8lb 3oz - beautiful deep fish in prime condition.
A great group of anglers who worked hard all day and were fantastic company so a big thank you to all for making the day so memorable.
Interestingly, the two best fish of the day were caught as the sun was setting mid-channel so very pleased we decided to stay out on the banks and not at all concerned that we arrived back in Brighton in the dark gone 10pm. £45 for 13hrs of Turbot, Brill & Giant Blonde's - worth thinking about perhaps?
Our focus is now moving to Winter Cod and as always with Brigand only the best and biggest will do - £50 will secure you quality tackle, quality bait, quality boat with no extras but as our reputation grows sadly the availability reduces so if you want to be assured of an excellent day out on the water get in touch soon.
Best wishes

Another cracking day out on Brigand with a fantastic group from London.
We headed out on a flat sea looking for Turbot & Brill, first drift we had a Brill aboard, second drift a Turbot - job done! It wasn't mile a minute stuff and patience was the order of the day but we had a steady stream of Big Tub Gurnard, Bull Huss, Red Gurnard and a nice double figure Thornback for John between the flatties.
This report wouldn't be complete without a "one that got away story" - Tang was left wondering what it was that bent his rod in half for 10 minutes and eventually took a lunge into the deep snapping his 20lb trace..... 30lb trace now on order!!
You get to meet some wonderful people in this game and today's crowd were as good as they come, thanks for making the day memorable and look forward to welcoming you aboard again soon.

Had the pleasure of Wengi and his friends aboard Brigand today and it was a pleasure. Conditions were borderline to fish in comfortably (often the way of late) with a forecast to improve so we gave it a shot.
Not a Red Letter day by any means but they had Bass, Garfish & a box of the most enormous mackerel I have seen this year, caught in the most unusual manner on a very surprising bait..... Now we know where to stock up on big Turbot baits but at that size a few are also destined for Sushi & BBQ - nice :-)
Well done Wengi & co. For toughing it out and hope you enjoy your Bass & Sushi tonight.
Whole boat currently available this Sunday & long range weather looks excellent - wrecking/Turbot on the cards so get aboard!
Best wishes

Another cracking day aboard Brigand today. A crowd of guys from Ireland onboard who wanted to catch a Turbot - not a problem. We set off just as the sun was rising and headed to the Turbot banks, within a couple of hours they had their Turbot and wanted to go looking for some other species; again, not a problem! We managed 12 species on all today;
Bream
Red Gurnard
Tub Gurnard
Dogfish (2 species)
Mackerel
Scad
Launce
Pouting
Giant Weaver
Cuttlefish
A fabulous day with a great crowd and glorious weather ........ Perfect!
If you would like to hit the Turbot banks or bag a few new species give me a call and I will do my best to accommodate.
Best wishes

Had the pleasure of top angler and great bloke Calvin aboard Brigand today. A mix-up with dates meant the rest of his party were unable to join us but I wasn't going to add to the disappointment by cancelling so we headed out into a beautiful Brighton morning on a bit of a species hunt, the result;
Mackerel
Scad
Red Gurnard
Plaice
Dab
Dogfish (of course!)
Bream
And a couple of cracking Bass.
Great weather, great company and great fishing - Brighton at it's best.
Best wishes

Made the best of poor weather today by getting out for some mackerel which is now filleted and wrapped in 5kg packs in the freezer ready for you to use..... Like all things on Brigand it is free
Always bring a pack of this versatile bait along on our trips as a standby in one of our cool boxes packed with flaked ice.....don't like to waste precious fishing time when they are scarce.
Best wishes
