Well all i can say more of the same today after a count up at the end of the day there was over 90 fish onboard and that was 99% cod a belting day once again everybody got amoung the fish and again the weather played ball a lovelly day at sea very mild and sunshine and very little wind.

The tide yesterday was fairly small one not the really the best for uptiding but again the fishing was superb plenty of cod around the 5-6lb mark and one around the 8lb mark plus there was ling as well and another species which just now and again pops up at first i thought it was a thornback but with those two big spots on its back its the clear markings of a cuckoo ray .

A nice fish for one of the lads another bleting day.

Well what a day the lads had i would say the best days uptiding this winter upto press the lads ended up with a total of 89 codlings onboard but it was the quality the sheer amount of fish between 3-6 lb a cracking day plus the weather you can only say was superb flat clam blue skys little or no wind a sheer pleasure .

There was one or two first timers at the uptiding and what an eye opener young jack and john vero were onboard and what a day they had and as usually young jack didnt take long to get into the action that young man is just natural fish catcher plus the local neil windows never tryed uptiding before neil ended up with 16 codlings upto 6lb plus so he well and truelly hooked .

It was first time this winter i have ventured well south of whitby to one of special little hot spots i know i knew what was coming when we ankhored up some bonny codling were onboard within minuites and it was worm and squid what was doing the damage cart didnt fish well today but that was a one off another week or two they will be going mental on it.

The lads with a few of there fish caught just a few hundred yds from the cliff back fantastic fun catching fish in shallow water.

The uptiding is on fire here at whitby the lads today had around 70 cod onboard quite a lot of fish around 4-6lb mark and its only just begun some belting fishing and again just a stone throw from the cliffs squid and blacks doing the damage but crab cart hammerd the better fish today .

Over the last two days the uptiding has been non stop action stacks of fish a lot of the lads each taking well into the teens of cod and quite a few 4-6lb range not a bad stamp of fish and only a stone throw away from the shore fantastic sport on the light gear the prospects look superb for this coming winter uptiding cod galore here at whitby.

My decision today after the big southeastly sea and the tides now and well on the up and getting bigger by the today was to have a crack at uptiding .
The swell when we went out was big but it was forcast to drop off as the day went on lines went into the water and it was only minuites before the fish were coming aboard and today it was the stamp of fish which really made the day with all the mops about it was fish between 4-6lb which were dropping on the deck plus mops as well the fishing was frantic all the way through the ebb tide non stop action for the lads and this is just the start of whats looking like a massive bumper winter uptiding season its alive with cod .

The last few days of the festival the lads have hammered the lings on thursday there was well over 100 lings onboard friday the best fish went 18lb and yesterday once again today the boat was laden with fish lings proved to be in vast numbers but also some quality cod came on onboard the best went 14lb for regular man mal from middlesbrough .

One lad who i say was extremly unlucky yesterday onboard was John Holder john is a very good angler comes well prepaired and yesterday was no exception john was fishing with 120lb trace line and with that sort of heavy line if you hook into a big fish your chances of landing a big fish are very very good john hooked into what i can say was a very big ling john managed to get it 20-30 ft off the bottom then it took a hugh dive and smashed his 120lb trace line gutted i think i was even more dissapointed than john extremly unlucky for that to happen with trace line of that calibre the one that defernetly got away a big fish that would have probably won the festival very easyly.

Young jack vero was onboard yesterday with his dad john and once again young jack was at it again banging those lings out 12 year old jack got a ling just ounces under 14lb but then his dad next drift got one over 14lb both just missing out on daily prizes .

12 year old jack and his father john with 2 nice ling both just missed out on the daily prizes.

Had all regular lads onboard yesterday with a good forcast the last one for a while by the look of things i decide to have a steam out the 20 mile the cod fishing at this time can be a little bit better out there than inshore around this time thats because its just alive with masses of food for the cod inshore and they can become a little bit picky the ling are in droves at the moment they feed like mad as the herring shoals have now arrived and just gorge themselves .

Steve with one of his cod some real quality fish about .
