An odd better size fish starting to show now here at Whitby. The herring is in in great numbers now and this is what's attracting those better fish.
My youngest son Charlie is learning the game now and managed to click a few good cod himself the other day. His best going a shade over 9 lbs.
Some good ling coming out too.
Check the calendar for spaces.
Cheers for now

A steady day on the fish yesterday on the Shy-Torque III.
The ground on the 9 mile giving us the best picking of codling and ling. No monsters landed but a really enjoyable day.
Fish falling to the baited rigs and the shads.
My son Charlie started work with us at the start of the 6 week holidays and is loving the job! He is also enjoying catching a few too!! Charl is pictured inset.
Room for a few next Wednesday and next Friday.
Cheers

The last few trips for the guys on the Shy-Torque have been anything but easy. Mainly due to the Spring tides. At times the best of the fishing probably coming from the shallow water in 10 fathom on the neap tides.
One or two better fish starting to show now though. Yesterdays trip was steady again with the majority of fish this time coming from a wreck on the 9 mile. The heaviest fish of the day falling to Mike Edge. A nice ling of 12 lb 3 oz.
A lot of throw back (undersized) codling on every trip too at the moment, which bodes well for the fishing for next year when they will all be a takeable size.
Some rubbish weather hitting us at present for a couple of days, so time for a few jobs ashore and on the boat.
Room next week on a couple of days.
Cheers and tight lines as ever

Dave Skip and his mate Dave from Durham joined us on Sunday along with another group form West Yorkshire.
The lads picked away steadily along the ground marks on the 9 mile stretch. Most of the fish were falling to the fresh mackerel bait and squid on the Hokkai rigs.
Top rod was Dave Skip who is pictured inset.
Some room on the boat next week from Tuesday 6th August.
