Been a long while since we reported lads, sorry.
With the summer festival and a very nice spell of settled weather this is the first chance I've had really.
The competition went really well with only 4 days being lost due to the weather. The fishing was quite hard at times but we did have some good results. The anglers on the Shy - Torque III taking more daily prizes than any other entrant again which was good. Well done to all those! A big thank you to everyone who joined the boat to have a go. Hopefully see you again soon.
We didn't secure any of the top prizes in the event but I reckon we had a couple of potentials on and lost them. Nigel Hall who won the spring competition with us had a really strong fish on on the 3rd day but didn't see it!
I'd like to thank all our sponsors for this years competition and hope they will be on board with us next year too. Always a huge help to us.
Also, I' like to congratulate my mate John Wilford on landing the best fish of the competition on his boat. Well done mate. Here's to a few more for you hopefully!!
The September competition is the next one here at Whitby which starts on the 7th Sept and runs for a fortnight to the 22nd Sept. Come and have a go in that one if you fancy it. Still some spaces left.
First prize is a very nice £1000.00 in cash!!
One of our many daily prize winning fish pictured inset.
Cheers for now and tight lines as ever and enjoy this cracking weather!!

My old mate Nigel Hall fished with us for the 1st three days of the Whitby summer angling festival and decided he'd collect his £1000.00 winnings from the Spring competition whilst he was here. Better late than never !!
He won the competition back in April on the Shy-Torque III with a lovely pollack of 12 lb 6 oz.
Nigel is pictured with Malcolm Pitman of Hook Line & Sinker tackle shop, sponsors of our festivals here at Whitby, and myself.
No monsters so far on the Shy-Torque III in this competition although Nige did lose a good fish yesterday which could maybe have won something.
I'll post any pictures we have at the end of the competition with a full report too.
Cheers for now

Steve, Jig and Dylan chartered the boat for 2 days on Tuesday and Wednesday and had a lovely couple of days both with the weather and with the fishing.
A proper mix of species for the lads including Lemon Sole, Herring and Haddock. The usual Cod and Ling were plentiful too.
Jig had a nice double hook up of cod on the baited rig and Steve took several Haddock on the bait too. Young Fergus Powell fished with us too and took Haddock on the small Sidewinders himself.
The lads will be back again next year for their annual two day trip.
Jig is pictured inset.
Summer competition starts this Saturday. £5000.00 1st prize!! Come and have a go. Great fun for one and all !!
Tight lines

Edmund and his friends joined us the other day and had a nice show of fish for their efforts.
Edmund himself had our first treble of cod of the year on the baited Hokkai trace. Some nice ling boated too. Squid was the best bait of the day.
Cheers for now

A slow day on Saturday with only 25 or so fish being caught all day. As the weather was a bit crappy from the South East we could only work wrecks out to 11 mile.
Andy Kennedy from Stockton on Tees fished with 6 of his mate and he ended up the top rod on the day with 8 fish.
Looking forward to the Summer competition here at Whitby which starts this Saturday and runs for 3 weeks.
A few places left still.
Cheers

A slow start to the day today working the local marks which produced on the last trip so we ran to a couple of wrecks more offshore.
The first one giving us only 4 fish but the second one producing nicely for a good 3 hours.
The lads bagging around 50 fish for their efforts.
Heaviest fish of the day, a nice ling of 11 lbs caught by Graham Stansfield from Leeds.
Cheers

A great day at sea with my old mate Nigel Hall and his mates the other day. Gordon Yates, Dave Ryan and regular local lad Fergus Powell joining the group.
The forecast was good for the best part of the day so we ran to a wreck 9 miles from shore where we picked the fish steadily until the change of tide at lunch time. A combination of cod, ling and plenty of pollack too. The afternoon tide didn't fish well at all, with only a half dozen or so fish.
The sidewinder eels and shads doing the damage with the ling falling as ever, to the baited rigs.
Cheers for now and tight lines wherever you're fishing!!

Sailed on Sunday with mixed groups on the boat. The day produced a slow but steady picking of fish around the 5, 7 and 9 mile area. Best fish of the day falling to one of our regular anglers, young Fergus Powell from Whitby, a nice cod 0f 8lbs 5oz.
Conditions on the day were great making the fishing nice and easy for the lads. The artificials worked as well as the baited rigs with the water clear now which is great news!
Reminder that the Summer comp starts here at Whitby on Saturday 22nd June and runs for 3 weeks.
Check the calendar here on CBUK for days left with room.
Cheers

A great day on the water yesterday with good weather and steady fishing for the lads.
The fresh run mackerel at the bell bouy proved to be a big bonus with the majority of the fish falling to the baited rigs.
A nice few doubles coming on board too which is a very encouraging sign for us. The ling are starting to poke their noses out now with the scent of the mackerel in the water. Hopefully we'll be finding some nice festival prize winners in the next comp which starts in 3 weeks.
Pictured is Graham Stansfield from Leeds, a regular aboard the boat, with one of his braces of cod.
Cheers for now
