Had my brother in law aboard today with some friends. We spent the day inshore uptide fishing with some reasonable results.
Perfect weather for the trip too. More like summer than winter!
The lads gathered around 50 codling between them. Best bag going to Steve Smith with 10 fish.
Best fish fell to Paul Lonsdale with a codling of 5lb 9oz.
Fishing offshore is producing well too. If you fancy a run off any time over the winter I will sail with 3 anglers for uptiding and 4 anglers for an offshore trip.
Cheers and tight lines

Hi to one and all,
Firstly I must apologise for not putting any reports up in the last 6 weeks or so. This has been due to me not sailing because of a broken rib !!
I am now sailing again and this last weekend saw our first trips since the beginning of October.
The weather fell very good for us over the weekend and so too did the fishing. Due to the amount of strong winds we've had over the last few weeks a lot of the more offshore marks haven't been touched and the fish certainly seem to have re-grouped!!
Our first drop on Saturday was on the 9 mile ground and this is where we stayed all day long. The fish were plentiful and everyone on board went home with a very healthy bag of cod.
Size wise, no monsters really. The best cod falling to Martyn Leck at 11lb 2 oz and the best ling of 14lb also falling to Martyn.
The weather has again turned for the worse with the winds coming out of the North East. Hopefully the water will remain the same gin colour it is now and we can get back out for more great sport as soon as possible.

To be fair, I don't think I can remember an August quite as windy as this last one here at Whitby. More cancelled trips than enough!!
On the days we have been getting away, the fishing has been nice and steady with some good size cod and ling showing on the wrecks. The inshore wrecks producing a good number of codling around the 5lb stamp.
The September competition is starting soon ( 13th ) and runs to the 28th. We only have a couple of days left now with any spaces, so if you fance a crack at the big cash prize give me a ring to secure your place.
Happy fishing wherever you are lads!!

Another Summer festival done and dusted for another year and what a scoop the lads had aboard the Shy-Torque this year!!
The first good fish aboard the boat and one which led the way in the comp for the first week or so was a beautiful cod of 20lb 3oz caught by regular angler on the boat, David Laine from Richmond.
Paul Siddle from Patrington nr Hull was the captor of the next good cod on the boat. His hitting the scales at 19lb 1oz. A personal best for Paul !! Well done mate.
Of course, John Wilcock, regular on the boat and (winner of more big money comps here at Whitby than anyone else), had to make his mark on the leader board. John was fishing over a period of 9 days with some close mates of mine, when, on his last day, hooked a cracking ling at 20lb 5oz. . When we boated the fish we were sure it was going to take the lead in the comp. Sadly upon weigh-in at tea time it was a mere 1lb off the leading fish. It did look a damn sight bigger than the leading fish though and had it been full of food instead of air, would surely have taken the top prize!!
A cracking competition again this year with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th overall top prizes falling to these 3 lads on the Shy-Torque.
John Wilcock's ling taking 2nd place overall winning £1000.00
David Laine'scod taking 3rd place overall winning £500.00 plus another £500.00 for heaviest cod caught in the comp.
Paul Siddle's cod taking 4th place overall winning £250.00
The boat took a good number of daily prizes too on top of these bigger fish.
The big cod and ling are here for you on the Shy-Torque!!
I would like to say a massive thankyou again to all who sailed with us in this years event and hope to see you all again in the not too distant future.

Seasoned campaigner and regular angler aboard the Shy-Torque, John Wilcock, has had a few belting days fishing with us in this years Summer competition.
John, who has won this competition more than any other angler and has taken over £12,000 from the events over the years was chasing the big one again yesterday!!
Working a wreck just over 30 miles off, John hooked in to what we thought was the winner at 9.30am.
When we weighed the fish at the scales at the end of the day we found that he had missed the top spot by a mere 1lb !!!!
Johns fish was quite possibly heavier than the current leader when we first boated it but after 7 hours and 30 mins out of the water they do lose a fair bit of weight. That's the way it goes!!
John is pictured with his ling of 20lb 5oz which is currently 2nd overall in the competition and won him a 1st daily prize.

David Laine from Richmond fished with us on the second day of this years Summer angling comp and was lucky enough to land a cracking cod of 20lb 3oz. A PB for David!!
His cod is currently holding 3rd overall in the event and could stand to win him a very nice £500.00 plus another £500.00 for the heaviest overall cod.
Keeping everything crossed for you mate!!!

The big cod and ling are certainly showing up here at Whitby now with plenty of double figure fish being caught.
The competition here is nearly over again for another year and the big ones have been falling a few of the lads fishing on the Shy-Torque.
Nigel Hall from East Cowton nr Darlington had a cracking ling of 17lb 14oz yesterday which took a second daily prize.

Only 4 days left now in this years Summer angling competition here at Whitby and with the weather rearing it's ugly Northerley head at us yet again it's looking like it's going to be down to the weekend trips to try and find that winning fish.
The lads on the Shy-Torque have however experienced some tremendous fishing both on the ground and on the wrecks over the last couple of weeks or so during the event.
Paul Siddle from Patrington nr Hull was the first on the boat to make a serious impression on the leader board with his lovely cod of 19lb 1oz which was also a PB for him. A 1st daily prize winner in the competition and currently holding 4th place overall.
Well done Paul!!

Hi all,
Been a long time since my last report which I must sincerely apologise for but I've had some serious issues going on in my life just recently. I won't bore you!
To the fishing!
The last month or two have not been overly exceptional with the cod fishing but what we have been getting has been of a reasonable stamp with cod to just over the 15lb mark. Better things around the corner now (summer) is here????!!
The shark fishing here at Whitby has yet again been good with 5 fish boated so far out of 8 trips and several fish also being lost. The best fish to press this year being Richard Furness's at around 235lb (pictured)
The weather at the moment is not playing fair at all with the wind coming out of the North for the last week or so. None of the boats have moved anywhere due to this but we are hoping for some lighter winds over the next few days, fingers crossed!!
If you fancy a trip anytime, either a general days bottom/wreck fishing or a days sharking please don't hesitate to give me a call on 07733 233352
I'll try not to leave it so long till my next reports!!
Cheers
Rich.
