We've been very busy making the most of the decent weather lately. There continue to be some lovely bass and hounds coming out on our general trips with a few different species showing too. The offshore trips are producing the best variety with bass, plaice, Launce, tub gurnard, red gurnard, scad, weaver and lots of mackerel showing.
Katie and Doug had a couple of lovely bass among the hounds on their trip as well as a nice tan as well I would imagine!

Sorry I haven't been on here much. I've had lots to sort out since we were granted the tuna permit. i also broke another phone so I'm short on pictures.
The good weather has also meant I've been working a lot of hours and out of signal range.
We started on our offshore bass trips last week. Richards group did well in some challenging conditions ahead of this settled spell. Thankfully the fish were feeding well and we managed a few on lures and good numbers on bait. Once the lads got in the grove there was a steady stream of fish coming in. The lads kept two each and we ended up putting lots of sizable fish back. There were plenty of fish just shy of the limit and a few hounds too.
We mixed in more lures and live bait as weather conditions improved over the following days and had some lovely fish in the 4-6lb range too.
Our general trips have produced more decent hounds and even another Conger and a stingray.

There's some great mixed fishing around on our general trips at the moment. Bass and hounds are the main targets but we have seen a few rays, dogfish, tope and more amongst those trips.
Offshore bass trips start from now and run right into December. This can produce some great fish and fantastic sport on light gear too. Depending on conditions we will use worm at anchor or lures and live bait.

It's a shame that the weather has been so unsettled lately but thankfully we've not had to cancel any trips. To be honest I do enjoy the different challenge and showing off the sheltered fishing brightlingsea has to offer. It's rewarding in a different way to the offshore stuff. We have had some lovely fish and a great variety too over the last few trips.
The usual hounds with lots in the 8-10lb keeping us busy at times and some lovely bass in between the smaller ones.
Fishing these different areas means we have a better chance of other species such as stingrays and we've had 3 in the last couple of trips.
Other species include Dover sole, silver eel, Conger eel, dab, thornback rays, dogfish, whiting, pouting and tope one of over 25lb very close inshore which was very briefly on the boat but a little camera shy!
I have boat availability this week Monday to Wednesday and individual spaces too.

The summer fishing is in full swing now even if the summer weather may not be. We are fortunate enough to have some great sheltered marks and they have been very productive lately too. There have been some lovely hounds and decent bass as well as a nice variety of species thrown in too. Guy was very pleased with his best bass so far this year after loosing a big one at the net on his boat the other week and Phil was pleased to see some nice hounds on his trip.

Sorry I haven't put much on lately, the great weather has often meant I've been working long hours with no signal. There have been some lovely fish showing with some chunky bass among the schoolies. The hound fishing has been pretty good in places and there's one or two rays and tope showing too. We will be starting our offshore bass trips soon and they continue until the start of December.
I have availability for groups and individuals over the next few weeks. We are running all sorts of trips from 4hr inshore trips to offshore trips targeting bass and flatties and of course mixed general trips for smooth hounds and bass.

It was great to see the lads from plumbcity Braintree again the other day. The weather was gorgeous and the fishing was busy from the first cast. There were good numbers of hounds, some small tope, dogfish, rays and some nice bass. The only downside was being stuck with a load of plumbers but I suppose you can't have everything! Great to see the lads again and you are welcome anytime if you bring weather and fishing like that.

Sorry I've been quiet this week, I've been offshore most of the week and my phone gave up the ghost too.
Despite the unsettled weather we have managed to get our trips out and find a few fish as well. I lost a lot of pictures with my phone but we've seen some nice bass and hounds the last couple of days so I got a few pictures for you. Other species over the last few trips include thornback rays, tope, dogfish, whiting, dabs, pouting, plaice and even a Conger eel. The summer fishing is now in full swing. The other day we started off catching bass on lures, then at anchor for the best of the tide and back on the lures on the way home. Rick was top rod with the anchored fishing with some nice hounds up the 13lb and a lovely bass. There were also whiting, dogfish, pouting, dabs and tope caught. All in all a pretty typical general trip for the time of year with pleasant weather and some decent fish.
