The bass fishing has improved over the last week or so. These are the best two from the other day with 30-40 caught and 16 kept. There were plenty of hounds, Dogfish, whiting and dabs in between too. Things were pretty busy at times with 3 bass to the top rod on the first few casts before the kettle had boiled! Worm was very important and the lads who didn't use it didn't have as many bass.

There were some great hounds and bass showing over the last few trips. The other day the lads had good numbers of each with several decent bass for the table and some nice hounds too. The biggest hound fell to Steve on the last cast of the day and went 18.5lbs which is a great early season fish and there's plenty of time to beat it this summer. It could have been the one that got away for his son Sam earlier in the day but Sam made up for it with the bass he really wanted.

The general trips are still producing a good mix of fish at the moment. There have been some nice hounds around with some pregnant girls pushing double figures. The bass have improved in numbers in places with several keepers per day in places and some decent rays mixed in too. Of course those dogfish are still there in case you are worried about missing them. With temperatures set to rise and good weather forecast for the next few days things are looking good. Mark and the lads had a good day despite the weather the other day. There were loads of dogfish and whiting but thankfully in between there were some nice rays, hounds and bass. Stuart had the most rays with 5 to his name but the others beat him on the bass.

It looks like we might escape this run of unseasonably cold, wet and windy weather by the end of the week.
Thankfully despite the cold and the algae bloom we have continued to find some great fishing. There have been some decent sized rays and hounds showing between the smaller ones as well and bass, dogfish, whiting and dabs ect. Everyone has been kept busy and relatively comfortable due to Galloper being a catamaran. Some of the hounds have been nice chunky females and as this weather warms up they should start to show in big numbers.

For a change to the recent pictures of hounds, bass and rays I thought I would put some flatfish on from our recent trips. We had a nice few hours drifting for plaice the other day with good numbers of plaice and dabs. We did a few drifts over the course of 2-3hrs and with plenty of double shots and a conservative estimate of 50 odd for the boat. Andy had 13 plaice and I know the other lads were on similar numbers. I also thought I'd include Steve's bonus turbot from the next trip too. Which was a lovely fish and he chose to release too. I've heard of a few turbot showing so I might put a trip together for them soon. I will definitely be doing more trips for plaice and bass so please get in touch if you want to join us.

There have been a few bass and some better hounds showing along with the smaller fish over the last week. No huge bass but more hounds around the double figures are starting to show. Yes Barry has been catching a few again as have the others like Dave, Stephen, leon and Matt. Both of these will be our main target for our general trips for the next few weeks and I have availability if you want to join us for a general trip or even offshore trip.

It was lovely seeing the Elliston family for their first trip of the year. We had a short evening trip and caught loads of fish. Of course dogfish made up most of the catch along with 6 thornback rays and a few small hounds. Steve had a nice mixed bag aboard Galloper the other day. Hounds, roker and bass not to mention the occasional dogfish as well! He was really hoping for that bass and was relieved when this one hit the net after loosing one on the previous cast! There's certainly plenty of life out there at the moment and things look promising for the summer ahead.
