Following a successful day charter on Tuesday 18th, and with the weather being settled, we took a night charter too for a five hour trip finishing at 10pm. After our 1st go a couple of weeks ago we were keen to get back out and try a few different marks.

We settled into anchor and again within minutes we were into fish, we picked away steady until we lost the tide, we then moved a couple of miles to our next spot where the tide was just beginning to move, and again we hit into fish pretty much straight away, they seemed a bit bigger in this spot though, with Local lad Faron Trueman taking an 8lber and 6lber in two casts,

The water was beginning to shallow so we moved to a bit deeper water taking a few more fish and losing a few to a seal before the evening was over.

Faron caught the best bag, with an impressive bag weight of 30lb for the 5hr trip. although everyone caught a good few with us finishing up with 25 cod for the evening.

We have had a cracking couple of days fishing here at Whitby, with the two day window that appeared we certainly made the best of it!

Phil from Stratford bought his family along, and we also had Mistress regular John Holder onboard for the day. And what a lovely day at sea it was, with sunshine and flat seas.

Everyone caught plenty of cod to take home with and finished up with between 35 and 40 cod between us, the best angler taking a dozen cod himself, the best fish was a double and caught by John and took the scales round to 10lb 3oz, well done mate.

The best bait was black lug and squid, which has been the most consistent bait so far this year.
Cart accounted for a few fish too.

Finally we got a break in the weather to get out and have a crack at the Uptiding at night.

The conditions werent the best with dropping tides and water clarity alot clearer than we thought it would be.
    and drizzle all night!

sailing at 5pm and returning at 10pm gave us most of the flood tide to work with.

We took fish at every place we stopped but not in the numbers expected.
All in all it was an enjoyable evening doing something a little different, everyone caught fish to take home, the more experienced lads taking more than others.

we finished up with 23 Codlings, a whiting and a strap ling (which was instructed to come back when in double figures!)

Managed to sneak a day in on Saturday between the bad weather days we have been getting here at whitby recently.

We went uptiding again as its has been fishing well, the tides wee small but the last bit of sea we had left plenty of colour so hopes wrre running high.

we had a slow start but persevered and moved a few times finding a few fish each spot.

The biggest fish was a 17lb Ling today which fell to local lad Niki on his 2nd ever boat trip,
we also had cod upto 9lb 12oz, and a good few fish in the 6lb bracket too.

best bait was worm and squid, but cart took a few too.

Pictured is Niki with his Ling - well done on your new PB mate!

only a few lads booked on today, so uptiding was again the order of the day.

It was a slow start to the day with us only taking a few fish in the morning despite moving around 4 or 5 marks.
we had a couple of fish stolen by a seal that was pestering us!

as we got a change in tide and another move we finally shook the seal and started getting a lot more bites and a few more fish boated.

with what turned out to be the final move of the day we hit a mad hour and everyone boated several cod to finish the day on a high note!
No big ones today all fish were between 2lb and 4lb. we finished up with a rod average of 7 cod per man, not a brilliant day but everyone left happy

best bait again was black gully worm tipped with squid

Even given the small tides here at Whitby this weekend, we still produced the good for our anglers here on Mistress.

On saturday we had Preston Sea Angling Club with us, it was a slow start due to the tide taking its time getting going, but once it did with a few moves we found some steady sport. losing a few to a stealthy seal we never saw!
Nothing massive landed, the biggest went around 7lb 8oz for Nigel.
In total we took 30 codlings for the day. plus plenty of pouting and whiting.

the best bait was worm and squid, this combo has by far been the most consistent this winter!

Monday we sailed again with only 4 lads onboard booked in at last minute,
We headed the other direction and caught the last of the ebb tide, getting straight into the fish.
we lost one to a seal that must have been sat under the boat! the lad with the net got a bit of a fright!
Again steady fishing produced over 30 cod for the lads, the best angler taking 14 cod.

We got a surprise Doggy, we dont get many off our shores so always welcome. pleanty fo pouting and whitings too.

best bait again worm and squid.

Pictured is Matt Breen from York with a nice brace of Cod caught on Monday, well done mate, we can always count on you to whistle a few out!

I got a phone call late the other night asking if i was fishing the next morning, i had no plans so said id take the lads from Hull.

It started out quite slow, with is taking around 10 fish on the last of the flood, but with the tides being smaller than usual i had a different plan today to fish a few spots i hadnt visited for a while.

we had to wait till mid morning till the tide came right for us.

A short move and a bit of jiggery pokery with the anchor saw a flurry of better fish aboard for us. including a belter for young Alex taking the scales to just under double figures a nice 9lb 12oz Cod!

as the tide changed in this spot we moved again taking a flurry of nice fish, the stamp of fish was certainly a lot better than of late with many fish between 4lb and 6lb.

not as many fish as we have been catching lately but we finished up with 30 odd Cod for the day, the best angler taking 15.

We managed another day at sea today as another gap in the appeared!

only 3 lads booked on and with tides being as the are uptiding was the order of the day again.

the first stop produced only one fish and a few half hearted bites,
so a quick move saw us straight into fish which came aboard at fairly steady rate the whole of the ebb tide.
as slackwater passed and the boat started swinging we re-positioned and as the tide got away the rods started bouncing again.

no monsters again today, the biggest fell to Robert from Doncaster, taking the scales round to over 6lb.
everybody caught plenty of fish, the boat final tally was between 65 and 70 codlings between the 4 of us, the best angler of the day took 30 codlings himself, fishing doesnt get much better than this!

best bait by far was black gully worm tipped with squid.

    4 Hour Uptiding Trip

We put together a 4 hour trip for Holiday maker Mark from Leeds, as soon as I advertised it, the trip filled in literally a day! sailing 9am till 1pm, obviously suits a few people!

It was a very successful 4 hours, with everyone catching a few fish, loads and loads of missed bites due to everyones over eagerness to get their first fish of 2014!

The best lad as it turned out was Mark from Leeds taking 4 cod home. the best cod was around 5 and 1/2lb which fell to Joe from Hull, Bucko off the forum also landed a nice cod around 4lb in weight.

the boat total for the trip was 20 codlings, all between 2lb and 5 1/2lb. It was a thoroughly enjoyable short session on the water with some cracking folks.
