Skerry Belle is now taking bookings for 2019, again our angling will be concentrated on the early bass fishing that we get in our waters. These can be really big fish, with double figure fish being caught on the best tides. The thornback ray fishing will really kick off as the fish move inshore to spawn, 40-50 fish a trip is not uncommon, there will always be a chance of a big cod as they Feed on the herring and the channel whiting should be making the 2lb bracket. Early season hounds should be making an appearance as the water temperature is still high. Its been a hectic summer season onboard Skerry Belle and definatly one of our busiest. Bass, hounds, rays have been plentifull and the mackeral showed in good numbers for the kids. We now pay our attention to the autumn fishing where theres a chance of large bass, codling, whiting, and thornback rays. Some terrific fish on board the Skerry Belle. With the best fish definately going to Wayne Milton for his monster bass, weighing in at 19 lb 4 oz. This fish is 5 oz off the British boat record and the biggest UK boat caught bass since 1987. So as you can see that really is a great achievement (see photo).
Our best blonde on board so far is 24 lb. We had a near record sea scorpion which gave us just short of a record. Some of our thornbacks have been nudging the 18 lb mark. The thornbacks are here in abundance, with again, over 20 per trip not uncommon.
As spring approaches we will start paying our attention to the wrecks on the Goodwins where we should see good numbers of coding bass, channel whiting blondes gurnard plaice and most other species. Remember we cater for walk ons, small groups, whole boat bookings up to 10 anglers. Remember all equipment, baits and tuition is included on all trips, unlimited tea and coffee and hot pies for lunch. Walk in toilet, hot and cold running water, heating and seating inside for all.

Some bumper catches should be seen in the next few months on board Skerry Belle, as the fishing improves with the days getting longer. Cod, bass, blonde rays, thornbacks, plaice, gurnard, mackeral, hounds, and mixed bag fishing on the Goodwins will be our target species. The Goodwins are renouned for catches of large bass and cod in early Spring. Remember, we are a full time charter boat and operate out of the Royal Harbour, Ramsgate, 7 days a week. Individuals, small groups or whole boat bookings can be organised anytime. All our trips include quality baits, equiptment, lunch, and tuition. The fishing should be spectacular now off the coast of Ramsgate, all through the months of November, December, January and February. The cod fishing will be superb! The herring and sprat scholes have now moved offshore. So with the cod putting on extra weight feeding on these the fish should be much larger than last year. Averaging the 6-8lb bracket and definitely a chance of a large double. With this and the skate fishing on the goodwins where we have seen fish up to 15lb. And over 25 fish a trip. It really should be a bumper few months. Remember all my trips include equipment and some baits and I can supply lug worm onboard so no need to worry about baits on any trip.
