The fishing should be spectacular now off the coast of Ramsgate, all through the months of January, February, March and April. The cod fishing will be superb. The herring and sprat Scholes have now moved offshore. So with the cod putting on extra weight feeding on these, the fish should be much larger than last year. Averaging the 6-8lb bracket and definitely a chance of a large double. With this and the skate fishing on the Goodwins where we have seen fish up to 15lb. And over 25 fish a trip. It really should be a bumper few months. Remember all my trips include equipment and some baits and I can supply lug worm onboard so no need to worry about baits on any trip. Remember all trips include a qualified deckhand for your tuition. Children and Families more than welcome. Individuals from as little as £40 a head. Call me now on 07805250427 to book.

After a very successful Summer season on board Skerry Belle, we are now turning our attention to cod fishing around the North Foreland and Goodwin Sands. The first fish would be in the 4 - 8 lb bracket using local lugworm baits. There is still a chance of some very large Bass, and plenty of large channel Whiting which can sometimes top 3 - 4 lb. Thornback skate staying all year round, the Autumn and Winter months can easily be our best months, with over 100 fish a trip being not uncommon.

From January onwards the larger fish arrive, mainly falling to whole squid baits, live baits, and cuttlefish. Fish up to 20lb between January and March.

This is also a great time for the Spurdogs and large female Thornbacks. These are just a few of the fish that turn up off our shores of Ramsgate, but you are also likely to catch in plenty of Dabs, Whiting, Pouting, Dogfish, Pollock, and Plaice.

Please call the skipper now on 07805 250 427 for best tides and availability.

After a very successful summer, we will now be turning our attentions to cod fishing. The Goodwin sands and chalk ledges around the foreland are great areas to target early season fish. The first fish are around the 3-5lb bracket, with the larger fish arriving in October as they follow the whiting scholes inshore as the nights draw in. Large autumn bass will also be amongst them and live whiting fished on a flowing trace can often see bass up to 15lb come to the net. Large fresh lug baits, cuttle and whole squid will get you amongst the fish. Remember all top quality bait can be supplied to you onboard. Just ask when booking. Well what a wonderfull day treated to a glorius autumn sunrise at Ramsgate Kent On the Skerry Belle Charter Boat with Roger Lennon and a mixed crew of new faces and all of us keen to get onto the magnificent fish that this area offers. First mark targeting skate using a basic Portland rig with 1.5m trace rigged pennel style and two 6/0 Aberdeen hooks, bait were chunks of herring nothing fancy just cut the head off and cut into three chunks and discard the tail. First drop a small ray, then another along the boat and a codling not a bad start. More rays and the usual dogs kept us active until the tide died away and so did the fish. So a move to deeper water and see if we could find some Cod, with slackwater and no tide it took a while to kick off and the rays started coming thick and fast, David Zippy Long after a lot of effort earlier started landing some nice size rays and similar so did others and I was getting a fish a chuck virtualy. I put a second uptide rod out and that saw plenty of action with both rods into fish at one stage. So I can claim the honours as top rod catch wise and heaviest fish at 11.5lbs oh and a new PB for me in the time it took me to eat two bacon sanwiches on a boat when inconsiderate fish kept jumping all over my baits !!! as to Cod well I suppose I will just have to go fishing Again to hit those ... Bummer Eh!

Well who's a Happy Chappy then !!! Great day On the Skerry Belle Charter Boat with skipper Roger Lennon and John Barnes plus a great crew David Zippy Long and weather for shorts and T shirts in October how good is that. I was on this trip to hone my uptiding skills and hopefully christen a new uptide Bass rod and some new uptiding weights, well I couldn't have asked for a better result than this 7lb+ Bass and everything well and truly came together so well pleased. Got to be honest I can't take all the credit for catching this fish as John showed me a baiting option for the pennel rig in a string of yellowtail lug and strips of squid on each hook so a joint effort ! However It's All Mine and I even tagged it just in case anyone wanted to run off with it !!! Great day with many other fish taken amongst the crew, Whiting, Codling some nice size too plus Dogs, Pouts. Image taken by Roger on his New Sony Xperia phone and in landscape format so when you catch quality fish on his boat you even get top Quality Happy Snaps for your albums how good is that.

We can supply fresh or frozen peeler crabs and freshly dug lug on all our trips......
BASS BASS BASSS BASS BASS BASS BASS BASS
Well its that time of the year again where we go targeting the bass and large smooth hounds that move through our area during the warmer months. The early bass fishing (May) we find lug baits the best. Even fishing with a single worm can be deadly, and obviously crab baits will always work well on the rocky ground around the Foreland. From May onwards, the mackerel sholes arrive and this being the best bait for larger fish a live mackerel fished on a flowing trace can easily produce fish up to 15lb from our shores. (Please check out the top gallery for bass catches last year.) The smooth hounds will also be arriving shortly. Crab baits, squid and lug will easily catch these hard fighting fish. To book a specialist bass or hound trip around the Goodwins and North Foreland area, give Roger a call on 07805250427 to discuss your requirements. Remember all quality gear onboard. Tuition and lunch is supplied on all trips. Happy angling,

BASS!BASS!BASS! Are just round the corner..phone for best tides, but be quick .Some great cod fishing at the moment! John Barnes showed us how to do it with this cracking cod of 19lb caught on whole cuttle. Plenty of fish in the 4-8lb bracket coming up on large lug baits. We will be targeting the deep water cod venues and wrecks in April/May, which can produce some huge fish and plenty of them once the cod have gauged on the sprats. Call Roger for best tides 07805250427.
April/May are also great months for the skate fishing out on the Goodwins, where 14lb fish are caught and provide great sport on uptide methods, the chosen bait here being fresh Herring.
Hope to see you all soon onboard Bayside for another cracking season, and plenty more pbs.
    Tight Lines,
    Roger.
