Todays trip can only be described as most miserable weekend of weather for this time of year north easterly raining most of the day with cold wind rather be at home or shopping was that bad! Despite that first timers on the High Flyer 2 was trip organised by local Paul Cole full marks for sticking the day and catching a few fish as well. Nice to see first of the small skate turning up along with a early smoothound and numerous spotty dogs throughout the day. Picture today of Roy with one of the thornbacks they will get better as season progresses i promise. Big thanks to everyone for the day i hope to see you at some point hopefully with better weather. Cheers Jon (High Flyer 2)

Flat calm seas this Saturday 21st April made a lovely change ! Headed out as tide was perfect to 5 mile bank in the hope of few skate armed with fresh herring and various bits and pieces but wasnt to be. Caught first of the season small starry smoothound pictured here early for us on this coast so had to snap it despite its size! Wont be long before they make a showing in numbers. Moved about six time today, basically whitting everywhere we went with few nice keepers. caught about 30 spotty dogs all returned with half dozen reasonable flatties, in all not brilliant but ok for this time of year. no roker for us today unfortunately not up here this week hopefully soon as reports of twenty miles away been starting to get them. Big thanks to the Luton lads looking forward to next trip.

Quick update on Sunday April 15th last trip. Was incredibly foggy down to 50ft visibility scuppered plans that we had in store. Ended up close to shore hiding up out of any traffic safe thing to do with constant AIS on which goes against the grain! Three vessels joined us so all fished close together in constant contact couldnt see them at all at times was a very damp day with everything soaked including me. First codling came in to Chris press ganged to have his picture took followed by few more small ones during the session. Few spotty dogs and whiting to add into the mix wasnt a brilliant day but in the big tides and rubbish weather was just nice to get out instead of going shopping! Big thanks to the lads for coming out were now looking forward to the first thornbacks arriving any day now, have all the frozen herring we need bagged up for next few months till mackerel arrive might try some night trips for them this year as they come in close to beaches at night will keep you all posted. Not looking to good for this weekend with easterlies forcast at moment i hope that changes soon. Until next trip tight lines people. Jon (High Flyer 2)

Bringing us up to date this last bank holiday weekend saw few small coddling and odd doggy turning up. Beginning of April can be a funny start we hopefully should have seen last of the frosts now things starting to warm up. The weather has been so unpredictable with snow and now heavy rain all weekend! The spotty dogs will move in now followed by the skate so now freezing down fresh herring injected with various oils for next few months bait. we havent bothered mentioning bass as unfortunately no point in going to the marks it does cause trouble with certain people not understanding that we cant keep them. No charter vessel makes the rules we just have to abide by them so no point in giving the skipper a hard time its not his fault. Good idea to look back through our years of photos here on this site and you can gauge the times different species turn up the only difference this year is we could get a spring coddling run and i hope we do but has avoided us for last few years so fingers crossed. Picture here of new A4 flyer we put in the shops etc if you would like one just email address willpost out to you state laminated if you so wish. Hope to see you soon on High Flyer 2 it can only get better!!!! Jon

Bringing us up to date we have seen a small influx of codling in recent week the downside now hit by 40mph plus easterly winds with everyone snowed in now! Hoping this cold snap will bring few more fish in on a normal year this month would be spring codling run follwed by the spotty dogs turning up mid to late March then April the start of skate when spring arrives. All we can do see what occurs the better times are just around the corner roll on the smoothounds! Website up to date for those wanting to plan any trips, this year we have been asked to do more tope specials so we will keep eye out for them mid june onwards rule of thumb. Lost out on night trips last year the wind just didnt play ball lets hope for a better season with the jet stream hopefully going the right way for once and all that cable work finished putting a spanner in the works i am looking forward to a better season. Hoping you can join us at some point.Picture of the new van, big thanks to Andrew from SignSmith for all his help. Next review soon as we get out until then tight lines everyone. Jon

Sat 3rd Feb 2018, big tides today fishing was hard! Had to stay inshore, lots of weed making baits covered. Bit testing to say the least but managed with the usual whiting and 4 codling only. The strange thing was 3 codling all 43cm exactly! Spooky. Picture of Richard (Left) and the two Chris,s first timers on codling. . Big thanks to everyone yesterday especially those driving couple hours its much appreciated you making the effort. Looking forward to the next one, Cheers Jon (High Flyer 2)

Coming to the end of the month now, our fishing has been all over the place with bass and skate being caught, totally out the ordinary for us this time of year plus the wind has been extremely fierce at times from every direction you can think of. Have lost quite a number of trips and most that we have done keeping us inshore most of the time. The whiting have been constant making the boat busy at times a god send in some respects but in others a pain grabbing the baits before anything else gets a chance. I must thank everyone who keeps coming out supporting us as it hasnt been brilliant but it seems to be nationwide problem, we have only another month or so and spring will be upon us with doggies and skate then smoothies life will be grand!!! Picture today is of Craig with sunday 28th best inshore codling of 4lb others smaller and returned along with the usual whiting , pouting and odd dab. Was a very windy day but lads done well good banter as usual. Many thanks to Dean for organising all the lads looking forward to next trip.

As we have new vessel working on the new brochure which should be out soon, also should you wish to be added to database for trip info such as places available etc or special trips by text or email please send your details over to be added,( not forwarded to other parties.) Be sure to think about your summer dates especially weekends as they are going, the website up to date and reliable.

Please note for 2018 we are asking you to use our Paypal deposit system of £20 per head( fully refundable on bad weather etc ) as certain people unfortunately let us down constantly , we lose out money wise and you lose a fishing spot you could have had it is getting to the point where local skippers are now trading letdowns names so those individuals will find it difficult to get a charter. Please be aware of that.

Bringing us to date Sunday Jan 14th 2018 it has been awful weather lately winds strong south east lumps the sea up for us here. Have been grabbing odd days w hen we can, most appreciative of people moving about changing days to get around the weather. For those whose trips we have canceled can only apologize but best to be safe we can go another time without any incidents. Back to the fishing, the whiting have thinned out a bit at last giving our baits a chance, unfortunately the sprats are about as well which tends to put the fish up in the water feeding on them but we have a cunning plan which seems to be paying off so getting a few codling a trip. Nothing big but as soon as weather allows we will be trying the deeper marks offshore hopefully one or two bigger fish should come aboard. Few flatties getting about now nobody seems to be keeping any which is great for conservation, also we have total bass ban this year already caught one last week (returned) but i dont expect it to affect our trip bookings as most of the bass go back anyway. We only kept 3 last year out of all the bass caught big well done to all those anglers it is our future stocks . I will still fish our bass marks as we get tope, mackerel, and sandeel there and the bass if they bite can be photographed and returned unharmed no worries. So not fantastic cod fishing at the moment but tickling along everyone knows the score it could be your trip that connects with a decent result , thats fishing. the website is up to date soon as i get home so should be reliable, dont forget bookings already going for weak tides wreck fishing in summer, get your date in if interested to save disappointment. Until then tight lines everyone. Jon (High Flyer 2)
