This report brings us up to date to 1st May covering the weekend the weather was nice and sunny for once sea flat calm on Saturday didnt start till mid morning so lost first run of the tide unfortunately . Few flatties came in to start followed by some spotty dogs and a small smoothound nice to see this early plus the usual whiting! Decided to move as a weak tide further south to deeper patch of water which paid off nicely ended up with 9 thornbacks in total released back by the lads also lost a bass by the boat estimated around the 5 lb mark would have made nice photo shame. Was a good day all round picture here of Richard who organised the boys from Milton Keynes much appreciated looking forward to seeing you boys again hopefully.

Sunday started off well weather wise forcast of no wind decided to try our luck on the roker again, unfortunately the weather decided to rain here and there and the wind picked up from the south quite blustery wind against tide making it a early day! Caught only two skate , plenty of dogs and too many whiting again! Big thanks to Kumar and Ras from London appreciate you guys travelling down also Dave jones who was on the skate today and Chris for skippering home, enjoyed the day in all not a bad weekend.

Few places this weekend as had cancellation on Sunday 8th . Tight lines everyone. Jon. (High Flyer)

Left early this morning headed out 9 miles to a favourite old wreck of mine just to see what water colour was and if any cod about in 140ft . After a few drifts producing nothing decided to hook into it at slack hovering above on grapnel expecting few fish unfortunately not a pouting couldnt believe it not a sausage! Nothing touched the baits so went onto a bank few miles further out nothing but few flatties 15 mile out , wind started to pick up so came right inshore in the Would taking a hour to get in! Bass pictured here with Ian came in straight away followed by flatties few spotty dogs and usual whiting. Only one small smoothound today no skate for us which i did expect but thats fishing. Moved few times back up the coast catching much of the same everywhere mixed back to keep us occupied but shows lots of miles out to sea doesnt mean more fish as everyone thinks! Thanks to lads for getting up early and home late hope wife understands! Blame me as usual, hopefully skate this weekend will be on banks for them see how we do. Until then tight lines everyone.
    Cheers Jon (High Flyer)

Just a catch up on latest trips to be honest we havent bothered with any photos as the fishing has over the past month been nothing but whiting and flatties and the odd codling thrown in, most weekends have been cancelled due to the storms particularly the bank holiday lost 4 days! On a positive note fishing has improved few early skate appearing on the lines not far off so wont be long before numbers turn up for us. Unfortunately still catching whiting plenty yesterday all day few decent ones among them actually. Caught our first smoothound of the year yesterday small but a start great to see and now everybodys favourite the dreaded spotty dogs are in but giving us sport you cant knock even though there a pest! No flatties for us yesterday but huge tides at the mo now decreasing nice to see a couple of pouting inshore came aboard as well. So in all its looking like spring is starting another boat caught small codling today could be the start of a spring codling run only time will tell lets hope so! Those interested in a few night time sessions please contact us get your name down as wind is dropping at night now thank god, still leaving about 6pm return at midnight so you can still go to work next day proving very popular last year better than watching Eastenders i reckon. So hopefully pictures will be back on when something worth photographing appears do look at summer dates as places going all the while book to avoid dissapointment. Leave it with you until then tight lines everyone.

Bringing us up to date the cod fishing has been very patchy here on the east coast seems the odd shoal goes past and we all get excited then nothing then odd one or two quite testing all round to be honest. We have had plenty of whiting all year with the added flatty thrown in but thats not what we want in winter. your guess is as good as mine regarding our spring codling run will it come or not time will tell. Hopefully get easter out the way we should see early skate showing up few spotty dogs and the bass even though we cant keep any till july!
Thanks to all my regular customers for supporting the High Flyer through this lean season, could this possibly mean better wrecking this year with loads of uncaught cod hanging around in the deep water this summer we will find out so making provisions for the occasion, please get in with any dates as weakest tides are going fast. Doing few special trips as asked for tope and suchlike on the offshore banks first one June 18th Sat priced at £65 per head with few places left if your interested. Will after easter do few night trips for these codling weather permitting so get in touch to get your name down leave about 6pm return midnight . So thats us up to date last sundays trip only produced couple of codling 4lb biggest with usual whiting and flatties bit lumpy on that northerly! Few places left this sat 26th at the moment. Leave it with you, happy easter to you all.

Keeping you all up to date having lost two weekends on the trot due to extremely high winds was glad to get out midweek nice light north west wind making conditions near perfect, only bug bear was reasonably strong tide but you cant have it all. We headed out north to a bank on the 5 mile mark on arriving was clear the tide was far too strong to fish in the depth we were in, couple of whiting and a flatty came in but decided to move anyway as tide wasnt going to slow down for a few more hours yet. Headed south virtually off lowestoft seafront didnt take long as tide was with us resulting in pesky whiting from the start of all sizes! Ended up when the tide turned with best fish of the day pictured here with Len Andrews a 6lb cod, also few others round the 3 to 4 lb mark and undersize returned. Had a visit from IFCA Fisheries Patrol Vessel nice to see the boys as they do a great job also explained our new bass quotas. In all was a great day sun shining few cod at last hoping this is the start of the spring codling run as we have had a hard time so far this winter! Thanks to all the lads especially those who traveled couple of hours its much appreciated just leaves us looking forward to next few weeks to see what happens, Few places left for this weekend at the moment. Until then tight lines everyone. Jon (High Flyer)

Well time i brought the month of January 2016 up to date unfortunately been a very testing time for us weather wise and fish wise too. We got plagued with millions of whiting just before christmas which seemed to put the cod off or they couldnt get to our baits either way we couldnt connect with many odd few here and there. Then tons of sprats poured into the roads where we fish inshore, seagulls dive bombing behind the boats wash thousands of sprats being churned up by every boats propps causes us a problem as the cod rise of seabed to feed while were on the bottom. Very testing to say the least! At this moment in time we have managed the odd codling ,plenty of whiting of all sizes and saving the day for us the flatties on the inside marks and bank providing some sport. The added headache is the mild weather not suitable for cod in my book i havent a clue whats ahead at the moment will we get a spring codling rush your guess is as good as mine. Very much hoping to time will tell wont be long till March now when usually weather breaks few spotties come about followed by the skate start of spring my favourite time of year lighter nights.

Would like to say a very big thank you to all my customers knowing how hard the fishings been here at the moment who still come regular and support me for putting up with the constant moving around to try all areas its very much appreciated and hopefully a end to our crazy weather which has sent the whole country upside down. Hopefully will have a great summer lots of new ideas to try this year, bass sport should improve with new restrictions, our new spurdog trips proving very popular with everyone keen to try, and as every our night trips increasing all the while.

I know its early but summer dates going already so any if your thinking of wrecking or tope/bass and require certain tides please get in touch to avoid disappointment, and also our colour BROCHURE still available just text or email your address will post one out to you. Until then tight lines hope to see you all soon.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION.

Well today was one of them days when everything went wrong, alot of bad language involved, seagulls covering their ears, bit of light bucket kicking, good job my mum couldnt hear me but cause of the problem was mainly due to the fact of my phone going overboard with the loss of all my contacts, fishing customers, suppliers etc and those photos that cant be replaced. Bit concerned if any delinquent flounders decide to ring any 0898 numbers and rack up my bill will have to wait and see and for those who i can hear saying didnt you back them up like techcy nerds do , no i bloody didnt. So lesson learned new phone , same number, learning how to back up hopefully which brings me to the important bit.

*As lost all numbers if you wish to be put back on the text or email database lists to get information on planned trips such as night trips or specialist wrecking ,bass etc please contact me by text on 07920043979 or email eastangliancharters@gmail.com with your name or relevant details .*

13 Dec 2015 by jon old

Bringing us up to date to the weekend of December 12/13th 2015, have put up with really blowy conditions last couple of weeks enough to test patience of a saint. Have managed a few trips inbetween keeping us inshore hugging the beach just to get fishing. Even though we have been plagued with whiting few good keepers among them with anglers kept busy all day, it is the cod people want to catch and unfortunately apart from the whiting knicking the baits the odd few cod about are not getting a look in. The main factor in all this is the temperature is so high for our seasonal average being so warm with our sea temperature round about 11 degrees still i fear too warm for our cold loving cod to appear in numbers yet. Today Sunday 13th was first opportunity with little wind to head out to deeper water fished in around 70- 90 ft off one of our banks which tails off to 130ft good cod mark in the past for us, today was good flatty mark! Apart from the whiting nothing else but few decent flatties no cod for us didnt hear any other boats with cod either. Tried a few other marks during the day and ended up for last hour right inside for more of the same. Wasnt a fantastic day fish wise but most enjoyable glad we tried off a bit hoping for our weather to become winter a bit! Big thanks to everyone Barry and his crew, two newbies on the Flyer from London Alex and Siergy, regular Dave Jones pressganged for a photo for today! Good lot of banter as usual, appreciate my xmas present still wearing them! Looking forward to next trip pray for cold weather everyone. Cheers . Jon (High Flyer)
