Well today was the hardest day i,ve had for months on the High Flyer, i spent half the night down on the Quay watching the rising tide as a huge surge was reported making its way down the coast over a meter higher than predicted, high water was 11pm last night . The boats all along the quay getting higher , anxious fisherman watching ,tying extra buffs on, lengthening mooring lines was all go. After midnight water got to about 2ft from coming over the wall not like last years when we all got flooded reminders of 1953! The downside for us on Sundays fishing was extremley hard tons of weed, plastic bags and various toiletry items on the lines 5 mins after casting was a nightmare! Moved right close inshore to escape helped but still not great. Ended up with only about 4 codling and few small whiting nothing else, much the same for the other boats even lads down the coast further south phoning up complaining of same problems. Would like to thank first timers on the boat Barry and his group sorry to have come on such a day being first time as well, plus the strong westerly, have known better days! Also john for doing a report of the day much appreciated. We didnt bother with any pictures today so thought i would leave you with a picture emailed to me some time ago, i wonder what breaking strain line was used, see what you reckon!! Till next time, tight lines everyone. Jon,

went out on the high flyer sunday 11/01/2015 day before there was a massive surge on the yare so we got out there and it was hard going only a few codling and whiting showed only one keeper for the day for me we all put it down to the adverse weather wind really rising and the ensueing surge on the yare had obviously put the fish of the feed for the day good set of lads for the day the usual good banter for what turned out to be a bad day for the flyer very unusual for jon better luck next time mate it cant all be plain sailing everyday

With the forcast all over the place having spoke to other skippers few cancelled had a word with the boys and we decided to go for it, being safe staying inshore again! Turned out apart from the rain which was a bit dreary at times the wind never appeared and flat calm conditions throughout the day! Cant think why these forcasts are so wrong with our modern technology? Plenty of fresh lugworm today all round and some slightly smelly ones from last trip, new variety of squid plus fresh blacks headed nearly off Lowestoft further south to our usual haunts. Only 2 boats out today angling that joined us, bit of a slow start with few whiting making a show then just the odd codling as we were not far off slack. As the tide changed fish started coming in most of the day really quite a few put back today well done lads great for conservation. No flatties today nor pouting only codling and whiting, picture here of the keepers around 3 oclock as wanted a picture before dark until new camera arrives! Stayed till about 5.30pm after having moved back up to the mud with few more coming in. Was a great day all round, thanks to everyone pitching in and washing down,Brilliant much appreciated, thanks to Steve and Trevor first time on the Flyer, also Terry, regulars Steve and Matt and dave really enjoyed it men was good day all round and nice start to 2015. Looking to do night trip soon as weather possibly giving us high pressure keep eye out on website calender for places. ( Jon. High Flyer)

New years eve headed out to the Roads again not much point going anywhere else today bit of a sw wind forcast later on in the day so keeping things comfortable stayed inshore. The whiting were very few on the ground today not too many good ones either rather strange and no flatties and just the one pouting today so we were grateful for the codling. Nothing bigger than 4lb really which despite knocking it is a great size eating fish, armed today with fresh blacks specially ordered for us by Gorleston Tackle over the festive season,(well done Jason) and fresh lug together with few old peelers i found started off further south than i normally go, with few reasonable fish from the start. Caught the end of the ebb with about a dozen codling to show for it before slack. After slack we had a slow start with odd few coming in, bit too slow on the flood for my liking so decided to head up to a mud mark i like which seemed to pay off thank god! Total keepers was 47 at the last count cant remember what we threw back but reasonably good day all round wind was picking up so back in about 5.30pm. Apoligies for picture quality think the frosts killed poor camera, ordered a new one so expect picture improvements! Big thank you to all the lads especially those who helped to wash down and get rid of all that weed very much appreciated. Just leaves me to say Happy New Year to you all my customers and fellow anglers thank you for supporting me and the High Flyer throughout the year, looking forward to being of service in 2015. tight lines to you all. Windy old day today but right direction from the west, only handfull of boats out, conditions only allowing inshore fishing once again! Pity really as been trying to get a bit of distance to see whats about but same old weather pattern seems just to be at weekends! Lads on today from up lincs, appreciate you coming fair way , least the day was comfortable and for once we seemed to be without the whiting. Not so many for us today thank god, the weed at times was a pain but always is this time of year. Alot of small codling were put back, the keepers here pictured average out between 2 and 3lb best one today was 3 and half only by chris pictured below. Not a single other species today, no pouting, no flatties at all just the codling which we have been very lucky and very grateful for they have stayed around even in this mild weather. Big thanks to all the boys for coming out bit cool at times in the wind, also for helping washing down, and it didnt rain for once! Hoping to go out one more night trip before xmas also looking forward to a calm slot to try on the banks and a very large hole i found around the 7 mile mark worth investigating i think. For all those who have come out on the High Flyer and had a day with us also all the regulars who come whether the fishing is good or bad i really would like to thank you for your support throughout the year, been a hard year at times like the mackerel this year but blessed with lots of skate but thats fishing. May you all have a great festive period ,some of us will be working! Look forward to 2015 for more tight lines. All the best. Jon. (High Flyer)

Latest report covers weekend of 13th and 14th Dec, weather keeping us inshore again strong west and southwest. Sat quite a few boats out but had the sea to ourselves sunday joined by only one boat from Lowestoft. Quite a interesting weekend with medium tides the flood seemed to fish better for us didnt help when tide eased as boat all over the place both days but the lads coped. Sat proved more productive with fantastic whiting coming aboard caught mainly on fresh herring, nice few flatties at slack too, couple of pouting here and there and codling throughout the day but a nice little spurt after dark as we stayed to finish the tide for a hour or two extra. Picture here of the lads on 13th Sat with some of the keepers all roughly between the 2/3lb mark on average. Nothing better for us size wise and no skate today. Sunday proved much the same still no skate but few more flatties today good sizes as well, the whiting were constant pretty much all day but small annoying buggers today only the odd decent fish. Less codling today as keepers as smaller fish quite alot of codling thrown back today, well done lads no pictures as hasty gutting and filleting put pay to that! Big thanks to all the lads from this weekend will try get out weather depending to see if any bigger fish out on the banks could do with a break in the weather wind a pain as usual . Keep eye on our night trips as had better fish on them, also if you fancy getting out over xmas break will be making up trips so get in touch . All the best. Jon.( High Flyer)

Started off todays charter with high hopes of getting hold of few last remaining skate that have been hanging around inshore tide was right , bit lumpy but worth the ride i thought! Anchored up to proven spot armed with fresh herring but the whiting had other ideas. Few crackers came aboard from the off but no skate! Stayed there till slack couple of flatties came in too. Moved with the other dozen or so boats to the Roads slightly off in the deeper part still hoping for our skate but wasnt to be. The fishing was too slow with just whiting and small codling or two so headed in to my usual inside spot on the rough where we just about guarentee the codling will be there! Ended up with about 25 keepers i believe, some nice whiting in among them, Really enjoyed the day with great lads, Dave and Rodger,Stan,Nick Jamie,Ben, and Sean ,Simon,Chris and Ian, pity about the skate but think the codling made up for it. look forward to seeing you boys again soon, all the best. Looked at the forcast few days previous conditions were near on perfect for a night session so decided to try inshore in the roads with a few regulars on High Flyer in the hope of possibly better fish at night. Armed with fresh lug, blacks, salted baits, the new imported squid and the kitchen sink we headed out straight to the rough ground in slightly deeper water to our day time activities my plan being the odd decent fish might be about. Unfortunately no double figure cod tonight but did notice better quality fish all round with our normal daytime tiddlers not so prevalent, most being in prime condition. Well done for throwing back fish men great to see conservation, keepers around the 20 mark in total roughly. Few pouting and pesky whiting most of the night ,none kept left to grow ,pleased to see only dampener was the hour long drizzle but apart from that the time flew and it was gone midnight as we moored up. Good night had by all ,i do think the fish feed better generally after dark and when theres no wind it is a absoloute pleasure in being out there you have to experience it to believe it. Big thanks to Paul pictured here with his keepers also Dan and Andy , Dave and Jamie, Chris and Len, was pleasure to be out. If you fancy a night session please get in touch either call, text or email, will add you to the list as we obviously have to work around the weather and pick the right tides so you get the best fishing, leave about 6pm return for midnight so you can go to work next morning!! Till then tight lines everyone. Jon. (High Flyer)

This report covers weekend of 22/23 Nov, much of the same at the moment still plagued with whiting most of the while few decent ones among them. On Saturday the start of new moon the codling were bit shy on the bite to start from normal, ended up with few keepers as most people putting the small fish back even though in size. well done lads. Pictured here is Panky first time on the Flyer with our only roker of the day returned as well nice to see some conservation going on. Few nice flatties came aboard few pouting and some small doggies. On Sunday mostly the same more codling to show, ended up on the four miler mark the unfortunate weather of constant rain ruined the day really big thanks to the lads for sticking it was not good! Have had a few frosts early this week hopefully winter might set in soon god knows we need the cold , only benefit is were still got chance of skate inshore so will probably target a few with our fresh herrings would ask you throw females back please men at this late stage plus commercial ban on now. Anyone interested in a party of herring fishing using drift nets please get in touch as few about now no sprats as yet , come and get dirty and use those arm muscles! Weekends before xmas getting fuller now but still dates left website should be up to date or please ring. Tight lines everyone. Jon. High Flyer.

Today was a trip organised by DXB water regulars on the High Flyer part of the furniture i would say, poor buggers! It was decided to remain inshore today weather wasnt brilliant forcast wise so stayed in the Roads, bit of a slow start compared to yesterday first fish being a pouting! Few whiting came along as expected wasnt really to the tide changed when we saw a few codling appear. Unfortunately for us the heavens opened rather hard at times along with a easterly wind which always kills the fishing! Thought the lads done well to stick the weather got a bit swelly side to side motion in a easterly, stayed until dark. We ended up as you can see pictured few codling keepers some dabs amongst them , well done to throwing back sizeable codling makes more to catch next time. Big thanks to Derek for organizing, brother Jeff, Keith and Richard for travelling all the way from Brentwood much appreciated, and James,Kev,Henry,Alex and Tony sorry about the weather lads lets hope for a better day all round next time. All the best. Jon. (High Flyer)
