Small numbers today on board plenty of room , those who didnt turn up missed cracking weather for this time of year. Headed out to 5 mile bank, plenty of whitting, few spotted dogs still, and flatties. Caught the slack just before the flood started seemed today the fish wanted a bit of tide run to feed. Not to much weed thank god lately been plagued by it. After lunch moved inshore in the Roads further south ,catching decent size whitting on the ebb, no cod for us today, patchy reports of codling, still too warm.Big thanks to our small party today of regulars Ian,Dave,James and from Stoke on holiday Laura and Jamie pictured with few whitting that were kept. Enjoyed the day, hoping the cod will be in soon for us! Jon.

First ever experience fishing, and even more exciting that it was at sea, and we could eat what we caught.

Little bit daunted by the fact that me and my mum were inexperienced both with boats and with fishing, but we held our own and caught the same, if not more, than some of the seasoned experts with a little help and banter.

As a day out it was lovely to go out onto the open waters of a coastline that we regularly walk the dog along.

Lessons i have learnt from the day are; to pack sun cream (whatever the weather) wear wellies (whatever the weather) and make sure that all valuables are in a zip pocket (our skipper Jon demonstrated the dangers by loosing his camera to the sea) and probably a good idea to take sickness pills....just incase!

Already looking forward to the next trip (maybe in warmer weather) as i am now clearly and expert "jigger"

Today our hands were tied as regards the tide , we needed to fish straight away as slack was upon us. we headed into the Roads straight into whitting a plenty and few flatties. Moved slightly inshore as other boats turned up still catching whitting , few keepers among them. After few hours we decided to move again offshore to the Corton bank staying until nearly slack still with the whitting! Moved again to the 5 mile mark to try our luck on a wreck over slack results were terrible. One mackerel for our efforts, water not clear enough. Ended our day back on the bank for the last hour few flatties and whitting again! Thanks to Noel,Kev,Adam,Mike,Lee,Rob,James,Alan and Steve, much appreciated men, needs to be a bit colder for those cod. Sorry about the couple of hundred whitting! jon.

Had a day out wreck fishing on High Flyer. We knew it was going to be hard work as this year has not been very good for wrecking. First time on this boat with Jon Old the skipper who I must say realy looks after you and tries his hardest to find you some fish. He made tea and coffee all day bacon rolls for lunch with chocolate bars coming out in the afternoon. All I can say now is a nice boat with a very good skipper and I would recommend him very highly.

Tried few other wrecks and returned to our favourite resulting in Rob with biggest cod of the day just short of ten pounds. Big thanks to Trevor for organizing the lads, Rob,Steve,Joe, Bo and Kevin,Steve and Rodger,Billy and Adi. Think we done ok really, sorry about getting home late as usual, hope you lads enjoyed it. Tonights evening trip started well wind decreased for us despite a little shower. First off with whitting for Paul, only 3 months early! Nice couple of smoothies came aboard, was expecting skate from this mark, despite all our efforts and various baits it wasnt to be. Went through slack with anoying crabs picking us clean as usual, decided to head inshore off the worm beds but scuppered by another large vessel anchored up right in the middle. Thanks alot! tried for the last few hours on the inshore wreck mark in the Roads but proved difficult even though the fish were on the finder. Big thanks to Paul for organizing the trip, and guests, Donald,Matt,Kev,and Nick, was a enjoyable evening and all agreed better than having to watch eastenders!
All the best men, much appreciated.

Todays trip was strange all round. weather forcast good headed for a favourite mark off the Holm channel, lost a decent fish possibly a tope , wind started to blow unexpectedly! Up anchor and away to little bass mark which has proved well in the past but wind making standing difficult so decided to drift north up the bank armed with every bait imaginable. Even though gulls working the water nothing came aboard so steamed north to a skate mark resulting in a couple,David in the picture here with his first skate. Nice little red gurnard, few flatties and weavers! weather took turn for the worse.Lightening, thunder , big rain the lot, tried Hemsby hole for shelter was no good so headed home. Thanks to lads fom Greene King,Daniel,Ady,Alan(relief skipper)Nick and Tom for organizing, along with Paul,Dave,Ken,richard, and Mike for organizing. Really testing day all round, well done men for putting up with it, much appreciated.

Tonights evening trip was superb flat calm hardly a ripple, havent seen these conditions for months! As our time is limited we chose the Corton outside bank in hope of skate at slack. Started off well with Matts smoothy pictured here, few small spotted dogs ,plenty of makerel about but with no viz and discoloured water feathers no good. Went through the slack, eating the famous bacon rolls, decided to move off to the church as no skate appeared. Paul lost lovely size smoothound at the net good double we think, as the night went on those summer whiting decided to show! Whats going on? was a great evening weather wise, had a good bit of banter, thanks to Paul Layton for organizing trip with guests, Matt,Ben,Andy,Wayne,Clive, and Pete, hoped to have seen more fish like the odd bass ,maybe next time. was a pleasure to be out there. Thanks men.
