July has bee a turn around month with the start of July wrecking still producing good quality and plenty of numbers of cod and Pollock,
Sessions at anchor have produced the first big wreck bream, eels and ling.
Ling have been in numbers also but towards the end of July the mackerel have arrived and the cod and Pollock fishing has all but disappeared, luckily with enough easy bait its been good sessions for ling and eel.
Pictured is Phil with his fine conger of 75lb
Thanks to all your continued support and to my sponsors for there great lures and fantastic rigs. -

What can we say about June!
The cod fishing again has been amazing and long may it continue, some big summer Pollock also still around.
Guernsey banks have produced turbot, brill and lots of black bream, we are still awaiting the arrival of mackerel in numbers though so finding bait is hard.
Pictured is regular Barry with a fine 20lb+ Cod. -

May was yet again a great month for Spot On from Brixham with numerous runs to Guernsey saw some great catches of turbot, brill and black bream.
The wrecks also started to produce a great run of Cod.
Thanks to Sidewinder for there continued support and top rigs for there great bream rigs.
June should see more Cod move in and more trips across the channel.

April seems to have continued the trend of the 'NE & E' direction winds which has meant a lot of lost days at sea for Spot On of Brixham.
However on the occasion we have managed to squeeze a trip or 2 in the fishing has been very up and down to be honest. Some days producing quality fish, some days producing quantity of fish and some days have been just bumper days with it all mixed together.
It has been a great year so far for Ling for Spot On with already many fish in the 20lb+ mark and a couple of 30lb+ mark also boated.
We are seeing more and more cod each trip with our last wreking trip seeing 5 boated so this is early for them so lets hope its another great year for the cod for Spot On like the last few years have been.
A lonely Coalfish has also made an appearance making one angler very happy as he has spent a lifetime trying to catch one.
Most of the fish have been coming to Sidewinders with a few Long caught on bait.
Thanks to sidewinders again for there sponsorship and continued support.
A 2 day 'red eye' Guernsey trip was squeezed in and I am glad to say the food is still great at the La Perla restaurant, wreck fishing wasn't bad either with each angler taking home plenty of fillets that were prepared by crew man Phil as usual.
Hopefully May will bring some settled weather as we have a few Guernsey trips booked in and the calendar is nearly full so my fingers and toes are crossed for some nice weather.
Pictured is not something you see every day, a drift with Sidewinder lures producing 3 Ling all over 20lb in weight each, we would have had a couple more but they bit through the trace line's during the fight.
Remember there is only one Catamaran that operates from Brixham and only one 'Spot On', Brixham's premier charter boat.

Great trip as always, first decent Coalfish I've had in nearly 20 years! Great piece of boatwork to retrieve it when it fell off the hook! Ross worked hard all day to keep us in the fish and we are looking forward to our trip later in the year. Many thanks again Ross, Mike and Brian

With some lovely sunshine and flat calm seas 'Spot on' was wrecking mid channel in search of Ling and we were not disappointed, we boated over 20 Ling over the slack water with 25lb being the biggest, some nice channel whiting up to 4lb were also caught on this trip along with a double figure Pollock which are still in abundance.
A few larger Ling hooked and proving just too strong and eventually breaking free in the wreck.
The following day with the tides making we headed again mid channel wrecking in search of Pollock.
After a few wrecks producing smaller fish we hit one which was playing ball and we stayed for a couple of hours with the frantic action but I wanted some bigger fish so at 2pm I decided to move out a further 4 miles and what a good choice, the Pollock were even more frantic and bigger with several double figure fish netted along with a fair few small ling and the occasional pouting.
Pictured is Jon from Cadbury angling with his fine Ling of 25lb which he caught using a 8-12lb class rod baited with mackerel. Very sporting Jon (Well done).
I have now opened my diary for 2017 and its filling up fast so if you want to fish on Brixhams premier charter boat then please get in touch quick or miss the boat!.

A day at anchor on the famous skerries banks in the deep holes which currently holds the British BLONDE RAY record was on the cards for this fine sunny day.
We left Brixham at 8am and with a short scenic steam across to our intended ray pitt we dropped anchor and waited.
It wasn't long until we had a bite which produced a very small turbot, then another and another, all returned as they were very small.
A quick move and we had our first blonde ray of just over 12lb.
15 minutes passed and the biggest blonde ray of the day fell to Bill of Sidmouth SAC of a nice specimen of
15lb 5oz.
All in all it was a nice and relaxing day with a few fish netted and a 25lb+ fish lost at the net as it simply wouldn't fit in it and finally biting through the 70lb trace line!
The skerries is starting to produce plaice with small fish being caught and the odd nice 2lb+ fish thrown in the mix, some nice Dabs are also being caught up to a 1lb.
Pictured is Bill with his fine specimen Blonde Ray of 15lb 2oz.

With the wind still not playing fair Spot On did manage to squeeze in 3 days of wrecking on the bounce at the beginning of march.
Those lads that braved the cold and chilly wind were rewarded with again some of the best action I have encountered on board Spot On, Pollock, Pollock and more Pollock coming every drift, with lots of prime double figure fish falling to a varied selection of Sidewinder lures.
When the wind allows we will be targeting the big Ling in the up and coming weeks as well as to continue the sport of the winter Pollock run.
Some anglers having a fantastic time using very light 30 gram spinning rods and 15lb braid to have the fight of there lives on board Spot On and I have to say I had a go and I am now 'hooked' on this light tackle fun.
Pictured is Bill and Steve from Sidmouth SAC & Brixham SAC with a couple of double figure prime Pollock they took on one drift together.
Thanks to your continued support of Spot On from Brixham and lets keep 'catching' and having fun!
Thanks to Sidewinder lures for there sponsorship and providing Spot On with simply the best lures on the market.
Remember only one catamaran in brixham and still the number one charter boat being the newest, fastest vessel around.

A break in the weather allowed Spot On to leave Brixham at 7am for a days wrecking in search of Pollock.
It has to be said the day was absolutely awesome from the off, with a cold frosty morning the sun cam out and the little wind disappeared and it was like a summers day and the fishing wasn't bad either.
Well the truth has to be told it was fantastic from the off, with prime conditioned hard running Pollock and this continued all day and with a couple guys targeting ling over slack water we had a couple with just over 19lb being the biggest Ling and low double figure Pollock making up the remainder of the days catch.
A bumper haul and one of the best had on board Spot On so lets hope it continues.
2pm came and I made the decision that the guys had enough fish and with 3 guys filleting for 3 hours steam home we reached Brixham harbour at 17:35 for a well deserved cold refreshment.
A big thank you to the lads for making an exceptionally fun day and great relaxed atmosphere all day which is what its all about.
We will be targeting the BIG Ling very soon so watch this space for reports and catches.
Thanks to my sponsors SIDEWINDER lures for the continued support into 2016 who without there great products would not allow us to catch the fish that Spot On catches.
I would like to welcome the new charter boat 'OBSESSION' to Brixham and wish Kev good luck in his new port.
Spot On still has some good tides and dates available so please call, txt or email if you want a trip on Brixham's premier charter boat and still the only catamaran operating from Brixham.
