Just a quick report to say Spot On's annual scrub and tidy up is going well and she should be back in the water middle of January 2015 ready for another great season.

2014 has been another brilliant year again for Spot On and the new boat is simply unbeatable.
The catches on Spot On have also been unrivalled by most South west Uk boats which you can see for yourselves in the catch gallery.

Bookings for 2015 are filling very fast and already more trips booked than I had anticipated so again I would like to thank you all for supporting Brixham and myself.

I would like to wish all my customers old and new a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing you all on board Spot On for the 2015 season.

If you have not yet joined myself on board Spot On or have fished from Brixham with little success I would like to welcome you on board some day soon.

    Nov 2014 by Ross Parham

After a couple of weeks break to allow time to spend with the new arrival to my family I was happy to get back to Sea to do the last couple of trips for 2014 as the boat is now out of the water for her annual scrub and tidy up ready and primed for the 2015 season.

The fishing on the trips were good with plenty of Pollock and some drifts taking 11 Pollock to 9 rods with everyone in at the same time, this made me very busy and not able to take many pictures but I did my best.
Average size was around 5/8lb mark but with some nice double figured ones in the mix, other catches were a number of small Bass, a few Cod and a ling along with a late mackerel and plenty of pouting.

I would like to thank you all who have come on board Spot On this year and look forward to many more trips with you all in 2015 and supporting Brixham and Spot On.

Remember there is only one Spot On in Brixham and is the only boat to consistently bring you great results and catches that other boats simply dream of, just look at the others for yourself.

Just look at the gallery and see this years catches and find another boat who can match it!

September was yet another great month for weather and the fishing did not disappoint as Spot On travelled to Weymouth for a 3 day fishing trip, day 1 fished the wrecks on the way over across Lyme bay were we caught Bass and Pollock the biggest Bass going 7lb 12oz then we headed for a few drifts off Portland where we managed just 2 bass and both small so returned, a last couple of drifts over the mussel beds when the tide turned produced some great plaice with the biggest going 4lb 8oz.
Day 2 was straight onto the mussel beds where we again picked up some more plaice and small bream, a great Plaice of 5lb 12oz.
Day 3 we started off on the plaice before the tide became too strong and we headed home via a detour to some mid channel wrecks were we hit into some great action of Pollock and Cod.
The guys for the second 3 day Weymouth trip changed there mind and decided to head across the channel to Guernsey and I must say what a great decision, the wrecking on the way over was superb with lots of double figured Pollock, a few cod and ling. The banks produced bass and turbot although none huge still good numbers, but the trip was made when we landed on a great little Bream mark where it was as soon as we hit the bottom the bream were biting and we ended up with great sport, again lots of small ones to be returned and a few bigger specimens kept for the pan, alongside this we found jumbo mackerel and garfish to complete the trip.
Hats off goes to Gordon of Manor angling who has been trying for 60 years to catch a Turbot and he managed 7 in one day.

Skerries trips have been producing some mixed bags with Blonde rays still showing strong, a couple of plaice touching the 5lb mark have made some great catches for the banks.

Wrecking has started to produce larger Pollock and a couple of sporting Coalfish have also made an appearance.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Brixham and Spot On and I look forward to seeing you all again soon and beating more PB's for you all.

Spot On is now proud to announce the sponsorship of TOP RIGS who supply many great rigs to most tackle shops across the UK, so some great end tackle available for you on board.

Just a quick report on how the wreck fishing has been on board Spot On from Brixham recently.

The offshore wrecks have been producing good numbers of summer Pollock and cod with the odd ling thrown in and its good to see most fish are full with the arrival of sprats which has turned the fish into a feeding frenzy making for some great catches.

Inshore wrecks have proved a little slow with the odd bass being caught but mainly consisting of small Pollock and pout and a few small codling, anchoring a couple of times has produced conger eels and this years first Black bream for spot on.

All the fish have been falling to either Bazinder's, eddystone's or sidewinder lures

30 Jul 2014 by Ross Parham

Wednesday 30th July saw Spot On cruise around to Dartmouth to pick up the Manor angling crew at kingswear as requested and we then steamed out to the skerries banks in search of Plaice.
The first drift did not disappoint as from the off we were into lots of the little flatties with 24 fish landed on the first drift, the day did slow down as the tide eased and this saw gurnards, dogfish and cuttle fish being caught along with many more plaice.

We had a nice small eyed ray also and some nice fat plaice with two 4lb+ fish landed with the biggest going 4lb 12oz for Phil closely followed by a 4lb 8oz specimen for Plymouth angler Barry.
A few more plaice well over the 2.5lb mark and some going over 3lb made up a great day of 107 plaice in total with 75% returned to get bigger, top rod was on 21 plaice at the end of the day.
Top bait was fresh ragworm supplied by Manor angling of paington tipped with squid, the best bead combination will be left secret.

The last 4 trips have seen numbers of plaice range from 60 fish to 107 so the skerries is fishing very well for spot On at present.

29 Jul 2014 by Ross Parham

Spot On travelled to looe this year for a days shark fishing and with 6 persons on board we left Looe at 6:00am in search of Blue sharks.
With the 'stinky' slick in motion and the 7 rods in the water fishing we didn't have to wait long until our first run but unfortunately after leaving it we reeled in to check the bait and only half a mackerel was left, still a good sign a shark was in the area, about 10 minutes later and first shark was on and to be honest not a fighter, perhaps it was too early for it and was still half asleep, the shark wasn't big and using length and girth formula weighed in at 38lb's. Rods back in the water with fresh baits and number 2 shark was hooked, again a small Blue going 42lb's.
Again we had another 2 runs with one hook bait completely gone and another bitten in half.
After an hour or so wait we had another shark on and this time felt a bit bigger with it running side to side and as the fin broke the surface we could see it was a nice fish, unfortunately some 10minutes into battle and trying to tempt it closer to the boat the wire trace broke near the hook and the shark was lost.
Half an hour passed and we were on again with the furthest rod bending over and after a 20 minute battle a nice Blue shark of 68lb was boated.
It was around 3pm when we had another blue take our baits so it was battle stations again and not long after the front rod also had a run so number two shark was on in this double hook up so the fun began with both sharks fighting well and each angler taking in turns to tire there shark out for it to be landed, measured, unhooked, quick pose for a photo then carefully released, we did boat both and were fine small specimens again that gave a good account for themselves as the videos show on facebook, going 41lb's and 39lb's.
Another hit and miss run at the end of the day and we steamed back into port with happy anglers and memories of those amazing creatures.
We ended the day with 5 sharks landed, 1 on and bitten through trace, bottom fishing was also ok with some nice size whiting and few doggies to pass the time.

Remember Spot On is the ONLY charter boat to catch sharks from Brixham and also boasts a 100% catch rate on its shark trips to date, others in the port may try but none can match Spot On when it comes to results!!!
