    Report on-board Supanova II

It was finally nice to get out this weekend to get over the Christmas blues.

What a weekend it turned out to be, phenomenal Whiting fishing with a box full kept each day in the 2-3lb range with the best fish touching 4lb. Hundreds were returned to fight another day. On this Mark we managed a cod each day a nice plump 6lber on Saturday for Chris Corbin and a 20lb cracker on Sunday for Will Everett.

After their fill of whiting on Saturday the lads fancied a Crack at some Blonde Ray. SO we ventured back towards home stopping o one of my deep water Blonde marks after a quiet 20 mins the first Ray was Boated and then a Conger, the first Conger I have seen at this mark ever but down to the dirty water they had ventured off the nearby reef.

5 more Rays were Landed all in double figures, the best falling to Dave Borton with a 19lber. Also to my shock a further 6 Congers were landed and released including the best reef eel I have ever seen. This absolute beauty of 75lb+ landed and returned by Phil Rogers of Bristol.

All in all a fantastic weekends sport.

Who says winter fishing from Weymouth is Dull hey??!!

    Happy New Year,

    Lyle

    Report on-board Supanova II

    Hi All,

Very little fishing has taken place lately with the poor weather, a shame really as leading up to the poor spells weather the whiting fishing was hectic and bass too.

Well 2012 is drawing to a close and what a fantastic year it has been. Early on in February and March saw the best Pollack fishing I have seen for quite some time. The best Pollack of the year was caught by Weymouth angler Trad Casey with a cracker of 20lb+. March saw the best Turbot fishing on the Shambles bank in probably 30+ years with many fish over 20lb landed and 1 fish of 30lb!!!! Supanova's best was landed by Mike Elvy from Buckinghamshire and weighed just shy of 19lb.

Then we come to the Plaice fishing, the best anyone can remember ever from Weymouth, from the last day in February to the middle of November the Plaice fishing was nothing short of exceptional, both in quantity and quality. Supanova was very fortunate to have 4 fish in 2012 to grace the decks that weighed 6lb 12oz, didnt quite manage to crack that 7lb barrier but in 2013 it will happen!!

Cod fishing on the wrecks and both inshore was pretty good this has reflected in next june almost fully booked already for next year.

Bream throughout the summer months on its day was superb but this year we seemed to get involved with the Plaice as it proved so reliable!

The reefs and banks for Rays, Tope, Conger, Huss were phenomenal in August and September but i must say I neglected this fishing somewhat this year but have a few more planned for next year thats for sure.

There were some really notable catches in 2012:

Bass 13lb 8oz (Byron Jones, Newport)

Plaice 6lb 12oz (Glenn Knight Southampton, Byron Jones Newport, Tony Hollingberry London, Alf Aylesbury)

    Turbot 19lb (Mike Elvy Aylesbury)

    Brill 8lb (Dangerous Dave Bristol)

    Cod 22lb (Adam Greaves)

Pollack 20lb 4oz (Trad Casey Weymouth)

    Tope 58lb (Paul Morton Yeovil)

    Conger 64lb (John Puddick)

But....................... Fish of the year for 2012 was undoubtedly a Brill of 11lb 2oz landed by Brian Cross in May.
The biggest Brill I have ever seen and likely to be the biggest I ever will see! (pictured)

Thanks to you all who continue to venture to Weymouth and make the port what it is. Can't wait to see you all in 2013 on the all new Supanova II.

Have a great Christmas and fish filled New Year!

    Report on-board Supanova II

Its that time of year again when the weather has the last laugh.

Thankfully of late things have been pretty settled, great catches of Plaice and Bream continue to keep all busy. It is the latest I have ever caught Plaice and it is showing no sign of slowing as yet. Combine the red spots with Bass, Bream, Cod, Rays, Congers, Turbot, Brill and some Pollack on the wrecks things are still pretty Rosy in Weymouth.

One of the highlights for many anglers venturing to Weymouth at this time of year is a crack at the atlantic squid that turn up just outside the harbour every autumn. Phenomenal eating and great fun to catch, what a way to round of a great day from Weymouth!

Pictured is Phil Rogers with the average size we catch.

    Tight lines all!
