Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
In between the current gales a small weather window presented itself today, the plan was to do a bit of Plaice fishing then Rays. We started along the beaches drifting towards Boscombe and this proved fruitless with only the occasional pout bothering the baits so we returned to the Swash channel and again very little but we did manage a small plaice so plan 2 came into action we anchored a bank and immediately had dogs and Rays this set the pattern for the afternoon with plenty more Rays, dogs, hounds and Gurnards coming aboard. Newly weds Russell and Karen outfished everyone landing most of the Rays. Chris Knight who is severely disabled was not to be outdone and landed a fine Undulate ray.

Report on-board Lady Margaret
The fishing remains good as we head into autumn which is normally one of the best seasons with summer species still in residence and winter species making an appearance.

We have spent most of the month doing inshore drifting trips. The main target has been plaice and generally the catches have been good although there has been the odd rather puzzling day where the fishing has been a bit slow despite seemingly excellent conditions. When the conditions are right and the fish are feeding hard we have had some superb sessions. There have been plenty of good sized fish around during the month.
There are also lots of other species around including black, gilthead and Couch's bream, red mullet, smoothhounds, tub and grey gurnards amongst others.
We haven't done much bass fishing during the month but when we have generally the results have been excellent. Still lots of small fish around and we have also seen some bigger fish in the 8lb and 9lb range coming aboard. We are still awaiting the first double figure of the year but have seen fish to 9lb 10oz. Great to see anglers wanting to release these magnificent, hard fighting big fish and only retain the smaller ones if they take any at all.
We have only fished one short session at anchor which produced a whole variety of species including the more unusual rock cook and baillon's wrasse.
I am pleased to say the mackerel have made a welcome return at the end of the month including some heavyweights over the 1lb mark. -

Report on-board Flamer IV
Peter Gillett, Lee Page, Glenn Barrett, Paul Musslewhite, Mark Bailey, Kelvin Bailey and the infamous Dodgey David Barton joined Flamer IV for their annual Angling Break. Their original 2020 Angling Break was cancelled in June because of lockdown.

This time they managed to fish three out of the four days with the last day being cancelled due to a gale forecast.
During their trip they caught a variety of fish which included Rays, Tope, Pollack, Black Bream, Congers, Turbot, Bass, Gurnards etc with Glenn Barrett also catching a Red Mullett.
They did a competition over the first two days which Glenn Barrett won and Peter Gillett was Runner Up.
The banter and friendliness on the boat was as good as ever.
In the evenings the group did socialize but said it was not quite the same with all the necessary covid - 19 restrictions in place.
All the guys stayed at The Marden Guest House which as usual was great and provide a superb service.
The group have already booked their annual Angling Break for 2021.
Pictured is Mark Bailey with his 30Ib Tope.
Angling Breaks - Book Now, Don't miss Out,*** NOW TAKING BOOKINGS FOR 2021 *** A few days away fishing out of Weymouth along with the social side is a nice trip to do. The variety of fishing and the amount of different species caught at Weymouth is probably second to none. There are plenty of places to stay which are angler friendly and some excellent places to wine and dine around the harbour and in Weymouth Town centre. If you want to try a Weymouth Angling Break then contact me, I cater for whole boat charters and individuals. If you are interested in doing a trip with a difference please contact me for full details. Planning your trip well in advance is essential you need to arrange your boat/place booking and your accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment, some of my regular groups plan their trips at least 12 months in advance, this allows them to discuss with me the best tides for the type of fishing they are targeting. -
