There is some cracking fishing to be had at the moment, plenty of pollack to 17lb and cod to 15lb 8oz on the wreck's. Even the inshore reef's are fishing very well with plenty of pollack to 9lb and cod to 15lb.
The sad thing is there are still very few mackerel about, most skippers I have spoke to said this is the worst year ever for mackerel. The fish market got a delivery of 40 boxes of mackerel but it was from Padstow, I just hope they turn up soon so we can start sharking and congering.
Next available date is July 14th, if you would like to know any other available date's just give me a call.
Cheers
Kev

Just returned from a 5 day charter to Guernsey, on the way over we stopped on a few wreck's with just the odd pollack or ling being caught. Then we tried a wreck we had not fished for a while and we hit the jack pot drift after drift the lad's where into cod from 10lb to 16lb, after just two hours fishing we had 36 cod to 16lb, 23 pollack to 12lb, and 8 ling to 23lb. The fishing was that good even I had to have ago and I don't often do that, it's good to see there are more cod showing now. While we where in Guernsey the plan was to fish the bank's for 3 days then hit the wreck's on the way home.
After spending 2 day's on the bank's with only a few brill and turbot to show for our effort's, we decided to have another day on the wreck's again. We tried a small wreck close to Guernsey first and it was loaded with pollack to 15lb, ling to 20lb and cod to 8lb. We didn't have to move all day, it's good when that happen's. On the way home the lad's where eager to hit the wreck where we caught all the cod and it didn't disappoint. There was only four lad's fishing as the rest of the lad's where to tired to fish. We still boated 40+ cod to 14lb, ling to 15lb and pollack to 12lb. We only managed a few hour's fishing on the way home, before the weather started to turn and it was time to steam home.
I have two more 5 day charter's to Guernsey later this year that are both fully booked.
If you would like to join us on a Guernsey trip next year just give me a call, we will be doing 2 to 5 day Guernsey charter's next year.
Cheers
Kev

Finally there are some mackerel about in number's, but they still take some finding at time's. The fishing over the last week has been steady on the inshore reef's, plenty of pollack to 8lb, a few Ling to 16lb and odd cod to 10lb. The fishing mid channel was slow at the start of the week but has picked up now with good numbers of cod to 14lb, ling to 22lb, pollack to 12lb and we landed our first haddock of the season. Also a few boats have started sharking and they are catching the odd one or two, we will start sharking next month on the spring tide's.
I have just got my hand's on a 2017 Plymouth tide table and I have already started taking bookings for next year. If you want to book weekend date's with good tides you need to do it ASAP because I have had a lot of interest already. Next available date is July 7th wrecking 12 hour trip, if you fancy it please get in touch.
Cheers
Kev

The thing I love about sea fishing is you never know what you are going to catch next. Today we boated a 48lb sunfish, I have only ever seen three of them on my travels but never seen one up close before. They are a very deceiving fish, they weigh a lot more than you think. The body structure is like bone and muscle, with a beak like mouth. Over the last few day's the fishing has been very hard I think this was due to my girlfriend being my deckhand ( you have to blame someone ha ha) but we have managed some very good Ling to 23lb 8oz, Pollack to 8lb and cod to 7lb. There is still very few mackerel about I hope they turn up soon so we can start targeting some big conger.
If you would like to join us for a day's fishing give me a call on 07999628511.
Cheers

I find it sad there are very few mackerel about for this time of year on the south coast, I think the factory ship's are depleting the stock's much faster than they can reproduce. Over the weekend we spent hour's trying to catch enough mackerel to go conger fishing, I even bought three stone of fresh mackerel but it was know where near as good as fresh mackerel caught that day.
When we did get the anchor down we managed 30 conger up to 45lb and pulled the hook's on about 25 with the lad's being to eager, but as soon as the fresh mackerel was used up the conger went off the feed. We had the mackerel I had bought, pouting and whiting for bait but the fresh mackerel caught on the day was by far the best. This just goes to show how important mackerel are to the fishing industry. On a brighter note the cod fishing is starting to take off, some day's the cod are out numbering the pollack and there are some nice ling about.
We have caught ling to 21lb, cod to 13lb, pollack to 10lb and whiting to 3lb.
If you would like to join us for a fishing trip just give me a call for availability.

Over the last few day's the tide's and weather have been perfect to anchor for big conger, but the lad's I had onboard only wanted to drift for pollack and cod.
This can be very difficult on very small neap tide's and no wind, at best we where drifting at 0.6 knots. We still managed to catch some quality fish, Ling to 21lb, Pollack to 15lb and Cod to 8lb. During the coming month's when the tides are right we will start to target big conger and sharks.
If you are interested in joining us for a day's fishing or even a few day's fishing, we can help with booking accomadation, parking and place's to eat in the evening who will cook your catch if you wish.
Here are a list of dates available this summer!!

July 3rd, 4th, 7th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 31st.

Report on-board Blue Fin
That's us well into a new season now and there's been the usual mixed weather, but on the whole the fishing has been showing a lot of promise for the season ahead. The skate have been there in good numbers on the marks and the cold spring up till now should help to hold the skate in the deep water for a good while yet. Even the general fishing in Loch Etive has been reasonable considering it's still quit early on. A days fishing currently producing around six species.

This year see's us with a new toy on the boat in the shape of a state of the art echo sounder. This new unit is capable of down imaging, side scan sonar and taditional sounder with CHIRP. I'm still getting the hang of this new peice of kit as there are so many different modes of operation, but all in all it seems to gives a very clear picture of what's happening below the boat. Will it help us catch more fish ? I'll make no promises about that ! We will wait and see, time will tell.
I would also like to say a big thank you to all customers who have been out with us in the past and also those who have booked but are still yet to come out on Blue Fin. Judging by the feedback I get I must be doing something right !
Tight lines to all. -

This is the first good run of weather we have had this year, let's hope it continues all summer. With the weather improving all the time so has the fishing, best day this week we totalled 75 pollack to 12lb and 19 Ling to 16lb. This was a very good day to be fare, on an average day we are catching 40 to 50 pollack to 12lb, ling to 24lb, odd coalfish to 6lb, odd cod to 13lb and odd conger to 29lb on the drift.
Today we fished the reefs inshore, there was not much tide or wind so the fishing was a bit scratchy. We totally 35 pollack to 8lb, the inshore fishing will improve all the time now as the summer kicks in.
Here are a list of the next available dates,
May 19th
June 23rd,
July 3rd, 4th, 7th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 31st.
If you fancy a a day out give me a call.
Cheers

Last week we had our first trip of the year to Guernsey, the fishing was very slow due to the water being very coloured. Even the local boat's where struggling and told me it's the worst they have known for a very long time. We did manage to catch on the reef's and wreck's, Ling to 16lb, Pollack to 11lb, Cod to 13lb 8oz, Tub Gurnard to 4lb 8oz and just the one Black Bream.
Just before the Guernsey trip we had two charter's out of Plymouth catching good number's of Ling to 21lb 8oz, Pollack to 12lb, Cod to 10lb and Whiting to 3lb.
Next available dates from Plymouth are May 9th, 10th, 12th, 15th and 19th.
Cheers
