    Update 4.12.18

Today brings us to the end of another week on the mighty Mersey. The fishing as a whole is going very steady with a constant run of Cod, Ray's and quality Whiting.

Our best day ended on 25 Cod, another few good days were 15-20 cod to size. There are plenty of 1lb size cod in the river which is a great sign for years to come. The majority of keepable cod are ranging 2-4lb with the largest to the boat of 6lb 6oz.

When the Cod have been a bit picky we have fallen back into the shallow waters up river to target ray's, these are still being pretty dominant on squid baits and an average size of 4-6lb, best of the week 11lb 1oz.

When we refer to quality whiting, we refer to the clunker 2lb+ fish that our side of the coast Selden see, however the vast area of the Mersey attracts these fine eating fish.

    Remaining Dates 2018 -

    Wednesday 12th - Boat available/10spaces 0230 start

    Thursday 13th - 0330 5 spaces

    Tuesday 18th - 0800 7 spaces

    Hi
We've finished for the winter now and I'd like to thank everybody who fished with us.
We had a good year with some excellent fish caught (check the photo's) but the Mackerel were a let down at first. If you are interested in a fishing trip next year please give me a bell on the landline.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
    Kindest Regards Pat Jones.

Good to finish the week off strong with 9 Cod to the boat and a good few ray's!

Quick chat to the lads and the decision was made to stay out an extra hour and watch the River Of Lights fireworks display, well worth it
Also pulled a couple extra cod!

The week rounded off with 46 Cod to the boat, approx 150 rays, Congers, Whiting, Dabs, Pouting and a few Doggies.

We take a 7 day break now as the tides are on the larger side, fingers crossed for colder weather and plenty of Cod when we return

As we come to the end of our first week back on the mighty Mersey we take a quick look at the action......

The Cod river, well we have boated Codling on every trip albeit particularly small at the time being, this is mostly down to the current water temperature being a tad high. We have some cold weather due in this next 7-10 days which will no doubt bring some larger cod into the river.

The ray fishing has been good for the majority, best day bringing just shy of 30 to 5 rods, with one day only bringing 6, however we did sit out a few hours for a coddie or two.

Best fish of the week went to John Nicolas with a fine thornback ray of 11lb12oz, Plenty boated around 4-8lb.

Other catches included Dogfish, Whiting, Dabs and the odd crab

We'll be back next weekend on the cod hunt as the tides start to drop away
