Another weekend past and another great time afloat!

The inshore reefs really are coming into there own now, Starting off both days fishing tight into North Stacks targeting the hard fighting Wrasse, Ballans and Cuckoos to be a little more specific.
2up1downs or sabiki's fished tight to the bottom accounted for 30 wrasse yesterday and just shy of 100 today, Fantastic sport with the right rods.
Following on from North Stacks a short move round the corner is South Stacks and the many reefs it holds. With rigs staying the same just a slight alteration in fishing depth started seeing Pollack, Coalie, Codling to 6lb hitting the back of the net with the odd Wrasse making a show, Quick more to the fangs and very much the same although much smaller fish averaging 1-2lb.

Wreck action - Saturday we hosted Bold Sea Anglers who book around 6 wrecking trips so trying to steam past a wreck is almost impossible nevertheless a great result with 8 drifts boating 25 Pollack to 9lb 4oz.

Holyhead Deeps - Mixed emotions, Yesterday we got absolutely plagued by Dogfish! Today however a slight change in area and a much better result, 25 Bull Huss to 14lb, 2 Tope to 20lb, Whiting and only 6 Doggies!

Hard work on the bigger stuff again this morning, but we've caught a few fish and had a good time so far. Plenty of pollack averaging few lb on the drift with wrasse,, codling and a few mackerel.

Highlights from the day included spurdogs and huss, with a nice 6lb 7oz pollack for Parky and young Tom Rowan with his first spurdog and first bull huss

    Hi
Another breezy day so could only fish inshore. Still plenty of mackerel, most good size. ( I can't remember having them this early for a long time.) Loads of whiting and dabs plus good size huss. The reefs have plenty of coley and some pollock, many good size. Hoping to get ofshore to the wrecks if the weather allows.

Hi northwest winds restricting getting way offshore to get at the real fishing inshore fish everywhere including pollack codling mackerel and loads of Huss whiting dabs on anchor. The inshore fish are not of the standard I usually catch offshore but good sport. Let's hope winds decrease to get to the better fishing cheers Roy

This last week has seen some great days afloat inshore making the most of what we have to offer on our doorstep, Fishing many of the local reefs, banks and hols within 5 miles of port keeping sailing times down and fishing time up.

Our crews have been rewarded with large hauls of Pollack and Coalies although mostly in the 1-2lb range there are a spattering of 3-4lb fish to be had for the table!
Other species have included large amounts of jumbo Mackerel, Ballal Wrasse, Cuckoo Wrasse, Codling, Pouting, Herring and Poorcod, all making for some great light tackle fishing.

Inshore anchor on this last set of spring tides had produced some lovely Bull Huss to 13 1/2lb, doggies, whitting, dabs, pouts, poorcods and the odd ray.

    Wednesday Deep and General 8am

Another great day afloat today, laughs & fish despite a blustery west wind restricting play.
Plenty of pollack to be had for all onboard, along with codling coalfish, mackerel, herring and a few ballan and cuckoo wrasse on the drift.
At anchor dogs, whiting and huss, with dabs, poor cod and pouting adding to the fun. Sadly a blankety blank on the spurdogs again.

    Under the rocks ... rocks

Inshore fishing yesterday was great fun, but the deeps let us down with only big huss to the hooks, so a change of venue was called for today. After a mixed bag inshore, it was time for a delicious beef casserole, thanks to Dawn we then went on the drift and were rewarded with plenty of good sized pollack for April. The deeps followed and thankfully the fish came too.

Plenty of big huss and spurdogs for all onboard, but birthday boy Iwan had to win the day with three nice tope, the best pushing the scales to 34lb.

Fantastic day afloat with a great crew, however tinged with a little sadness for Shelby, who broke a nail whilst dealing with a spurdog. A minutes silence please

    A weekend of mixed fortunes!

This time of year our main targets are the packs of spurdogs that swim through our waters. Saturday 08th Apr, started off in true April fashion, a run out to the deeps was rewarded with over 40 spurdogs in a mad and frantic 90 mins, these together with a few huss and customary dogfish.

Sunday 09th Apr with a similar tide & conditions, not a sniff! Huss and dogs only, not even a solitary spurdog lost from its pack. Fishing can be so frustrating at times, everything can be planned to perfection, except the one main ingredient, the bloody fish!

Never the less, inshore was loaded with dogs, whiting, huss and dabs etc and some nice pollack and the odd wrasse on the drift. We also ate and drank well and had a barrel of laughs.
    I guess that's fishing
