Report on-board Spindrift New Dawn
Out on Spindrift2 for the first time but wont be my last. Gareth is a really hospitable skipper who obviously has the interests of the people on his boat as his priority. He was always on hand with advice and assistance and was happy to keep popping back and forwards with rigs, weights, brews or whatever. Thanks again Gareth and I'll see you later in the year I hope for my sons first boat fishing trip.

Report on-board Gwen-Paul-M
Just back from the Isle of Man after a three day trip. Good weekend's fishing with 17 species caught. Notable fish were a 12lb pollack and a 10lb cod. We also had plenty of coalfish to 5lb, a few ling, wrasse and a spurdog. The trip was hard fought at times with some windy periods but the lads were all rewarded with plenty of fish to take home for the table and a couple of good nights on the town in Douglas.

Waited inshore catching mackerel, dabs, whiting,Huss, gurnards and dogs until the wind eased and tide swung to make the sea state calm enough to get out to the marks producing. I think the lads will agree it was worth the wait.

Blessed with good weather, good company we set sail with skipper Phil.
Fishing the wind farm area we picked up a few mackerel, dabs, whiting, scad , gurnards, huss, and dogs.
I was lucky enough to catch a couple of 50lbs plus Tope best weighed and photo'd @ 52lbs, the other was too big to lift in after breaking the net on her. Bait was whole mackerel, I also nearly landed a bull seal which Skip refused to tail for me...don't know why!
As the day went on we all caught loads and the Huss got bigger with several into double figures, along with Pollock, poor cod, ray and pout caught off a small wreck... These kept us all busy over slack water then a move inshore and a couple of smoothy's starry and plain were landed along with more Huss, dogs and dabs.
At about a mile off we had some of he biggest dogfish I have seen, one was weighed at 4lbs 12oz caught by Paul Allen of tom pot blenny fame.
In all thanks to Phil our skipper on the day, he was a great barista..serving amazing coffee, providing pasties and good advise, a competent and professional skip he also put his life at risk twice to land my Tope by tailing.
Really looking forward to getting out again on Tony's boats off Rhyl, must take a bigger net next time!.

A notable catch today was a 13 lb cod, the biggest I have seen on the boat for many years, if not decades. The lads from Sefton Sea anglers fished steadily through most of the day landing further cod in the 2-5lb bracket and some pollack. Off to the Isle of Man tomorrow on a three day trip and looking forward to fishing over there for the first time this year.

Pure Fishing Smoothhound Challenge 2015
View Boats Page
In its 5th year, the My Way Smoothhound Challenge has become a hugely successful event. Having been generously supported in recent years by Fladen UK, the 5 day event in 2015 changed sponsors. Worldwide tackle giants Pure Fishing My Ways official sponsors came onboard with GO Angling offering entrants a chance to win a Penn Squall 15 sized reel with Shakespeare Agility 12lb boat rod by catching the heaviest smoothhound during their day afloat.
Unlike last year when all 5 days of the even including evening trips ran unhindered, the 2015 event was to be blighted by poor weather. this left many days and evenings being rescheduled well into June. Never the less, on the days we managed to get afloat, the anglers saw many hounds being caught. Winners of each day coming up trumps with hounds in the high teens, with a couple twenty pounders with the best falling to Llandudno anglers David Craddock with a fin specimen of 23lb 40z.
With over 200 hounds landed ranging from 5lb to 23lb and countless dropped, the event was a raging success yet again. Dates will soon be available for 2016. 5 full days and 4 evening trips, keep an eye on our website or Facebook page for further detials
