Well it's been a tad windy over the last week, but we've still managed to get out and find shelter on Conway Star. More importantly we've enjoyed some good fishing and lots of laughs along the way. The Tope have been making a show with a 47lber caught on Monday and a 46lber on Saturday, amongst a smattering of small pups. Plenty of runs from other fish, so good action to be had. Plenty of fresh Mackerel about for bait and fish caught over the weekend included, Dogs, Whiting, Gurnard, Tope, Bullhuss, Dabs, Codling and Pollock.

Fishing is good at the moment, plenty of Mackerel about in the morning for bait and in the evening for the BBQ !! Still lots of Smoothounds being caught up to 16lb, if you want to target these bring plenty of crab. While if we sail west we`re having Tope to nearly 40lb, Bass on the right tides, Rays, Bream and the usual summer fish.

We tried our first serious session at anchor, of this year, on one of the wrecks today, on an midweek individual wreck trip. It was a great day to try it as the tides were small and mackerel are now prolific so fresh bait is easy to catch. A few ling to 9 lb fell to large baited hokkais or cod feathers, with the odd cod to 4 lb thrown in. Flappers and whole mackerel tempted a couple of congers and bull huss. Time for some drifting in the afternoon so we made our way further offshore. The wind freshened so fishing wasn't easy but the lads managed a few nice pollack and cod to 7 lb. Our species tally for the day was a respectable 10 consisting of mackerel, ling, conger, cod, pollack, coal fish, pouting, whiting, bull huss, dogfish. Pictured is a 6.5 lb cod.

Fishing both inshore and offshore is excellent at the moment. Plenty of widespread mackerel have been caught this week providing perfect bait. On the offshore wrecks pollack fishing has been prolific with in excess of 150 fish the other day with a fair number between 7lb and 11lb. We also had a few cod up to 6lb and some coal fish.

Inshore fishing has also been very good with plenty of bull huss, a few tope and the first gurnard showing. The spring bloom is now dying and the water both inshore and offshore is clearing nicely. The photograph is from the Blind Veterans trip yesterday showing one of the lads with a nice tope. Summer is here! -

Having become a regular on Myway over the last couple of years all I can say is that if you book a trip abroad Myway you will not be disappointed!!!
Gethyn the skipper has great knowledge of the area, targeting different species of fish, tackle bait and rig presentation and is only too happy to help from the novice to the experienced angler you can't fail to learn something from him and he goes out of his way to make sure you have an enjoyable day afloat with great banter good food and is 100% focused on putting you on the fish and fish on the deck you can't fail to enjoy a day aboard Myway! so book with confidence!!! I always do! Over the last couple of years fishing aboard Myway has improved my angling no end from what I have learned and has helped me set many of my PBs the latest being yesterday when I was lucky enough to land a smooth hound weighing 20lb4oz an awesome fish and with well over 30 smooth hounds landed between the crew another great day and one I won't forget in a hurry!
Top skipper! Top boat!!!
