Report on-board JUDY B
Another great trip with Dave today on Judy B.

A choppy first hour looking for Mackerel as bait at a few marks, so Dave put us in a bay out of the wind for an hour or so over broken ground, then the Mackerel started showing, a few fair Whiting, and a suprise Tope that decided to run under the boat, wrap herself around the rudder good n proper and take us 15 minutes to try and get her either aboard, or released as i didnt want her stressed too much.
Dave and a lad with us managed by holding his ankles to lean under and cut the trace and off she went , estimated by Dave at between 50/60 pounds, taken on a single Mackerel Joey.
The winds dropped, so we headed for a bank mark, and then the Bull Huss came out to play big time, reckon about maybe 20-24 either boated or brought to the boat and lost on the lift taking a landing net next week.
More Mackerel and Whiting and a flat calm sea with a warm sunny afternoon-it doesnt get much better than that-best trip in a couple of years, most of the lads were novices and only one casualty with sea sickness all day.
Thanks for a brilliant day again Dave, see you next week.

2015's First Wrecking Trip

With a nice high pressure rolling in and a free day with relatively small ish tides a last minute individuals day was booked to finally open up our 2015 wrecking account, 4 lads took the bait all being new regular anglers aboard Bad Boyz for 2015.
The weather gods were kind and forecasting 4-8mph Northerly winds which didn't really show up so a flat calm sea throughout the day was to be had!
First wreck around 25 miles SW of Holyhead didn't produce any fish just a few missed takes, tension was growing as the jokes passed and the quietness came, after 45 minutes and many different drifts on and around the Wreck a move was in order, 20 minutes later 5 miles further out we arrived at the second wreck of the day an old 3 tunnel steamer from the late 1800's. First drift and fish on was called, we fished the wreck from an 1 1/2 before through to slack water as it produced a steady steam of Pollack to 7lb, plenty of Pouts to 2 1/2lb and the one cod of 4lb once to tide started to increase wreck 3 of the day was plumbed into the plotter and a course set.
40 minutes 10 miles further once again brought us to one the the biggest wrecks in our book set in 110mtr of water and showing marks on the sounder!!
Within the next couple of hours we had a good stamp of larger Pollack to the boat averaging 6 - 12lb including a couple of PB's to Simon and Matthew.
The day was called and a course set for Holyhead and Bad Boyz put upto 16knts for the 2-1/2hr steam back to port, few photo's taken and 69fish tallied up which between mainly 4 anglers fishing including to first time wreckers was a very good day.
Best fish - Pollack 12lb 3oz to Mr Colin Poutin
Best lure - Savage gear sandeel slug

Fishings slowly moving towards the summer species now. First few full strings of mackerel brought aboard and the tope starting to show. Smooth hound inshore on crab baits too. Plenty of double figure Huss on the bigger baits . Whiting dabs dogs and codling making up the rest of the catch at the moment. If this nice weather keeps up we should see the summer species in full swing soon enough.

Another lumpy day, with Dave Males and his party. Still plenty of fish caught. Lots of Dogs, Dabs, very sizeable whiting. The codling and Mackerel put in an appearance as well. Best fish of the day went to Graham with a Huss of 11lb. Other Huss went to Phil, Chris and Alan. A great day with plenty of banter and good humoured rivalry.

Report on-board My Way 2
It’s been a while since our last detailed report, and much has happened, great fishing and hard fishing, thanks to the weather. We are still suffering from countless cancellations from the foul conditions that have been hanging around the UK for a long time now. But we all know that, so lets not dwindle on the bad. When weather has allowed, we have been fortunate to sail and fortunate to locate some good fishing for the majority of our trips.

This report starts at the end of April, where yet again we snuck off to the edge of Holyhead in search of spurdogs, huss and early tope. The spurs certainly played ball with countless double figure specimens falling to the present baits. Nigel Perry, visiting from Scotland, was on fire during his trip on 27th April, numerous double figure landing, including one hook up that contained two double figure spurdogs one of which, at 19lb 12oz was a mere 1 oz under the current welsh record, caught and released aboard My Way a few years back.
High winds cancelled the start of May for us, but when settled it was back out after the spurdogs. They did’t disappoint, with countless double figure spurs joining us aboard My Way. One day in particular, will remain with me for a long while… it rained. Oh, did it rain, all 6 of us were totally soaked. But the fishing was worth it, with countless spurs and a few huss making an appearance.
As May rolled on pollack slowly started to make an appearance on various rock marks and along the length of Holyheads famous breakwater. Normally the start to arrive after the 2nd week of April, signifying a change in seasons and species, but as with most things in 2015, the were late.
Plenty of fish ranging between 1 and 2lb and a good few reaching 4lb, lovely conditioned early season fish and great sport on light tackle in 35foot of water.
Ballan, cuckoo and corkwing wrasse all making an appearance in May, with a good few being caught amongst the polka, collies and clouding whilst drifting.
May tends to be the start of our annual smoothhound hunt, however the cold weather and slow crab moult has seen a very slow start to the hounding. We have managed a dozen or so in the past week with the best few two winners of our smoothhound challenge (separate report to follow) topping the scales at 19b and 23b. Great fish and plenty more to come through June.
June availability is very limited with only a handful of spaces available, evening trips available for both boat and individual bookings, please phone for details. -
