Inshore Bass fishing at Ramsgate continues to frustrate, one day we hit a feeding shoal and have it right off, the next day they are gone ! No pictures as the locations would be easy to spot !!!

We`ve had some fun days chasing different species such as the elusive Kent Wrasse. Thanks to Neil and Nigel for getting another species for me to put on the list.
Offshore the wrecking continues to provide consistant sport with quality Cod, Bass and Pollock showing at anchor and on the drift. Quality artificials such as the Rage Eels are working just as well as the livebaits on the drift. The banks are showing Turbot, Bass and lots of Red and Tub Gurnards, good fun fishing but please `give them some line` if you want to hook them ! The Plaice seem to have slowed down at the moment but we are sure to find them again any day soon !
The Tope fishing has been awesome with lots of PB`s set for experienced and novice anglers. Don`t let the fact you haven`t fished for them before put you off. We supply Quality end tackle and circle hooks so the fish are returned unharmed, you may also hire rods and reels for a small charge. The Tope will be here roughly until the end of October, so plenty of time for you to break or set a new PB on board Excel 2.The
Whiting are starting to show inshore so the big Bass will make an appearance again as they feed up before they depart for sunnier climes.
Hope to see you soon,
Keep it tight,
Dave.

Halfway through the holiday period and the fishing has been electric at Ramsgate, even the slower boats have reported a few bass caught. On the days where we have pushed offshore to the wrecks we've seen good catches of quality cod and a few cracking pollock. the offshore banks have produced plaice and black bream.

The inshore marks have been fairly slow with mainly bass showing on the banks.
Soon we'll be out of the August doldrums and the fishing will be even better. I'm looking forward to the Autumn Tope run and landing some huge Bass again.
Calendar is fairly upto date,
Hope to see you soon,
Keep it tight,

Wow !
What a windy month !
Luckily at Ramsgate we have Quality inshore fishing and some quite sheltered waters.
The Tope fishing continues to be exceptional with catches of 10 to 15 angry Tope upto 50lb not uncommon.
As the summer progresses and hopefully the weather improves we will catch some Big Females and set even more new Personal Bests for our Anglers.
The Mackeral are here in huge shoals now, bringing with them lots of predators like Big Bass.
We can fish for the Bass with livebaits from our tank, deadbaits or jigging. Whatever method you prefer and the best to suit the conditions.
The Ray and Hound fishing inshore and at the Margate and Goodwin Sandbanks is very good, with consistant numbers of both species now coming to Squid baits. Again as the Sun starts to shine on us this fishing can only get better !
Please don`t forget as we are now past the longest day and it is light untill 930pm, that we are still running our Evening Bass trips.
Pick an evening, weekday or weekend, and so long as I have 4 or more at £25 then we`ll go !
Our best Bass on an Evening Trip so far this year is a great 9 1\2 lb specimen for Alex, aged 12 3\4.
C`mon , you`re not gonna be beaten by a 12 year old are you !!!
Keep it Tight.
Remember, No Bullshit, Just Results.

May Delights !
View Boats Page
Although the weather has been `changeable`, we have still found some great fish lately.
The first May Bank Holiday was a great success even though we had strong North Easterly winds, Most of the Charter Fleet stayed at home for the weekend but we saw the opportunity for some great fishing and it paid off,
Alex, aged 12 1\3, from Sevenoaks caught a beautiful 9 lb Bass from Pegwell Bay, along with some Smoothounds and a nice Skate.
Our evening Bass trips over the Bank Holiday weekend were quite productive, none of the Bass caught were under 6 lb !
On the odd days when it has been calm enough to push offshore we have had great results, our Worst wrecking trip so far in May produced 60+ Quality fish, mainly cod with a few Bass in amongst, for a party of 6 Novice anglers.
No bullshit, Just results.
Hope to see you soon,
Keep it tight,
Dave. -

Yesterday the Danglers plus guests and friends, potential new members... there was a rabble of us any who, made for the bank in rather choppy conditions, to try our hand at some flatties.

On board Volsung with skipper Andy we tried to drift the bank first, which didnt work out too well with the wind and tide together pushing us off the bank. We did manage to pick up some small dabs and gurnards though.
We dropped the anchor and sat there bobbing... and bobbing and bobbing.. and then the fish came. We had plaice, lots of dabs and some good ones too, as well as many a gurnard of which some were kept for the pot too. Not for me though, I was out for the fun of it today. Heres Joe with a double shot of dab, and a very tangled rig!

Mike the strike was using a sea searcher rig, it was around 25ft long and had three snood, each 4.2 metres long. It worked, he had triple shots and a few of them! He had dab gurnard dog, gurnard gurnard gurnard and more.
New member to be Brain then went and nabbed a Turbot at anchor, on my rig, with mackerel I prepared for him.. I did tell him I charge per fillet on comission. Well done fella, it weighed 2lb 8oz.

The dabs and gurnards and of course dogfish continued and everyone bagged up. The tide had picked up by now on the bank so it was time to head in towards the reefs and see if we could snag a rock or two... I mean a pollock.
A fellow charter boat popped out to see us... The biggest LNG tanker that enters and exists the Haven, I think.

The first drop into the reefs and the fish were right under us, Pollack here, Pollack there and then a cod and the odd ballan wrasse for good measure. Of course coming to a grand variety of colours and shapes, fantastic fun on light gear.
A Ballan for Mike..

A Pollack for Andy's guest Chris..

A lovely reef Cod of 3lb 10oz for Chris' friend Alec..

Brian with a string of 4 Pollack!!!!

Keith thought he would feed the local contingent of black back and sea gulls. Nearly bagged himself another Gannet today too, dived for his bait.

We managed species 11 today, Dogs, Dab, Plaice, Grey Gurnard, Tub Gurnard, Turbot, Pollack, Launce, Mackerel, Ballan Wrasse, Codling.
So a decent session on the bank followed by hectic action on the reefs made for a very enjoyable day out on the boat despite the fairly rough sea, with good tea and chatter with skipper Andy thanks as always, good company with friends... but no cake. I have to own up mum did make some but I didnt get round to picking them up.. sorry guys. Next month mind.
Lets hope these easterlies dont last and some high pressure settles.
Cheers

Weather still cold with these North westerly winds, but mackerel shoals increasing daily although the herring and sprat are also being caught, still some good whiting caught on baited feather.

Thornbacks and blondes now moving on to the banks with large quantity's of Bull Huss over the rougher ground. Bass up to 5lbs now being caught in the tide runs, the early Tope should alsostart to show in the shallower water as they come in to breed.
High winds after tomorrow might put an end to deep marks for the next few days but will continue to fish the bays and sheltered waters. Eel tanks now maturing will soon be tripping with live bait as the bass start to show on the reefs. -

The fishing has come alive at Ramsgate !

Big hauls of Thornback Rays from the Sands along with some bonus Spurdogs. 4 lads from East London that had the whole boat to themselves on an individuals booking on Friday were treated to a big haul of Skate along with a 14lb and 19 1/2lb Spurdog.
A group of Lithuanian lads took over 20 Thornbacks home on Saturday but sadly lost a huge Spurdog at the side of the boat as she bit through the mono trace.
On Monday we returned to the Sands for more Skate on a Birthday fun trip. The birthday boy was a slow starter, everyone else was into quality fish while he stood there looking bemused ! Luckily he soon got the hang of it and by the end of the day had caught the biggest Thornback weighing 14 1/2lb, a proper Birthday treat !
Now booking evening Bass trips.
Keep it tight,
Dave.
