First trip back of a new season and pleasing to see the hounds are there already. Best bait crab as usual this early in season but some also falling to squid. Not big fish but all in the 7-10lb range. As long as the weather stays fair these will increase in size and numbers throughout the month

June has been a really good month for us here in Swansea. The weather at the start of the month was good, which always helps !!! The smoothounds arrived in good numbers, by the middle of the month these were of a decent size with the best so far going over 18lb. The tope fishing has been good with these also being numerous. Also starting to catch all the usual summer fish and the mackerel have moved up into the bay in the last week, so fingers crossed we`ll have some decent weather next month.

Nice to see the Smoothounds have started, top bait crab, these will increase in numbers as the month goes on, also nice to see Blonde, Small Eyed and Thornback Rays being caught. Tides and weather looking good for next week.

Wind again dominated the fishing for the month, this has to be one of the worst summers I can remember for strong winds !! When we managed to get out fishing was quite good, smoothounds have again been steady throughout the month, best catch falling to Zoe Beech`s party with 82 landed, bass fishing has been good on the spring tides and the rays have fished well on the neaps. Mackerel are now starting to drop further west but it has been a good summer for them. September normally fishes well for bass

Another disappointing month with the weather only slightly better than July !! Mackerel are now starting to drop back down the channel but generally have been very good this summer. Bass fishing has been steady on the spring tides and hopefully if the weather allows should be good next month. Rays have been ok but again the weather has stopped us pushing offshore, but when the wind has allowed us the smoothound fishing has been outstanding with the best day being 82 fish landed and many more lost.

What a disappointing month, was it really July !!! Like the rest of the country we`ve suffered from strong sw winds limiting us to where we could fish, if we could get out !!! Despite this the mackerel have held up well which will be very welcome if we do get a summer. Ray fishing will kick off in August with some big catches of small eyed rays, bass will fish well on the spring tides and hopefully if we get a settled spell the bream will feed well.

Fishing is good at the moment, plenty of Mackerel about in the morning for bait and in the evening for the BBQ !! Still lots of Smoothounds being caught up to 16lb, if you want to target these bring plenty of crab. While if we sail west we`re having Tope to nearly 40lb, Bass on the right tides, Rays, Bream and the usual summer fish.

Smoothounds have moved in on the inshore grounds now in good numbers, most fish in the 8 - 14lb range, biggest so far 18llb 6oz. Peelers top bait but fish have been going well on squid this year. Also getting Huss to 14lb amongst them, mackerel should be here in the next couple of weeks and the Tope will follow them.
