Same old story weather playing havoc with the fishing here. When we do get out the smoothounds are really thick on the ground everywhere, crab being the top bait of course. Bream are showing in decent numbers when the weather is a little more settled but mackerel are very patchy. Bass are now showing in good numbers and the rays are also numerous on the offshore banks so lets hope we get some sort of summer in July. Photo is of Peter Griffiths from The Naval Club in Port Talbot with a decent bass.

Report on-board Seren y Mor
Seren y Mor is now back in the water and operating after our usual break. Fishing in May started off slow with everything being a little late this year due to the low water temperature, but in the last week fishing has improved quite considerably with Penywaun SAC landing 35 Smoothounds. Mackerel are being caught a little further west in good numbers so it looks as if summer is finally coming. Photo is of young Dylan Jenkins (12) giving the Penywaun boys a run for their money with a 10lb 6oz hound.

Weather again played a big part with the fishing, seeing us stuck in port for long parts of the month. When we were able to get out cod were hard to come by but those that were caught were of a good size, mostly double figure fish, whiting have thinned out but if you wanted to fish for them dabs are there in good numbers.

Report on-board Seren y Mor
Fishing for the month has been steady with large numbers of Whiting to 2lb 8oz and plenty of Dabs showing all within 15 minutes steaming of the marina. Again the weather has hit us hard with strong winds for the last fortnight but a few decent Cod have been caught in the last couple of days. Hopefully if the weather allows January should be a good month. Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all who have supported us throughout 2012
