Great day out, fish from the start including a couple of double figure cod. Tony the skipper knows where to find the fish !!

  • 5-star Lee Johnson (23/07/2021)

First time boat fishing for my son, it felt like the first time for me also.
But Tony, the skipper, took great care of us !!
The boat is spacious and clean. Extra tackle available, if like me, you find every snag in the North Sea.
The skipper put us on the fish time and time again, cod, mackerel, pouting, whiting a long and a herring we’re all caught by the fishers and it’s all thanks to Tony.
I kept overhearing on the radio from time to time, other boats asking if anyone is catching. I don’t know if this was commercial of charter boat skippers, but we didn’t have to worry about that. This made me smile and made my sons day !!!
    Thanks Tony !!!!

Took my two sons out aged 9 and 11. Had an amazing experience catching lots of mackerel and cod. Tony shared his wealth of experience and skills with the boys and was very patient with it. Absolutely priceless in my opinion!

Great half day fishing. We went as a family and had a fantastic day out on the sea. Came back with loads of mackerel and also some cod and herring. We feasted well this evening!
Tony was incredibly helpful, relaxed and friendly. V patient with our bungling attempts to set fishing rigs and was a great tutor, both for adults and kids. His boat handling skills were great and we felt v safe on the water with our 9 year old daughter.
    Can’t recommend enough.

Latest Fishing Reports and News

  • 02/06/2024 Fishing Report by Peter Mackintosh

2 Jun 2024 by Peter Mackintosh

After another Northerly wind, we set off North on a lazy, rolling swell to a bit of ground not far out of the harbour. The sun was shinning, but the cool wind kept the temperature down all day.

Looking at the water colour, brown from never ending rain flowing out from the river, I wasn't that optimistic about our chances, but we were straight amongst the fish from the first drop. Mostly smallish codling, with a few a bit bigger - to about 1lb and a half at first.

We moved on, with the tide flooding, further North and away from the river mouth and the water clarity started to improve and so did the fishing. Another bit of ground, with plenty of juveniles and again a few bigger Codling to about 3lb. Every drift producing lots of bites and fish.

The wrecks produced fish too. Nothing really big but a decent stamp of better Codling, to about 5lb or 6lb. It was none stop fishing all day, whether it was on the ground or wrecks.

Apart from codling, a few nice Wrasse were caught, one which was bright blue, a colour I'd not seen before. There was the odd Coal Fish, Whiting, plenty of 'Scotchies' and a couple of mackerel, which were a good size for the time of year. Hopefully, the bigger shoals can't be far away because the birds were chasing shoals of sprat, so shortly the mackerel will be hunting them too.

After the tide turned, the great fishing continued and everyone aboard picked away all day. There was a fair few double hook ups. Best lures were pink or orange hokkais, baited with prawns or squid. I persisted with the shads but they didn't really fish well, I only took 1 juvenile on them.

Tony (pictured) managed to catch a fair few Codling, including a few in the 5lb to 6lb bracket.

All - in -all, a fantastic day's fishing with a great set of lads and great banter.

    Tight lines.

Headed south of the Tyne today to try a selection of wrecks. Fishing was steady with most marks producing a variety of species including cod, ling, pollock, mackerel and a few haddock. Most of the cod were in the 3 - 5lbs range but Michael Hawkin too the glory with a cod of 15lbs 5oz, a PB. Congrats Michael.

There's been a ridge of high pressure off the west coast for the past two weeks, which has resulted in light northerly and north easterly winds, making fishing tricky at times.

Early morning, there was a bit of northerly swell, which kept the temperature down- very cool for June, as we set off a fished a few wrecks as the tide was ebbing. We had a couple of small cod and the odd mackerel.

The skipper headed North, working the inshore wrecks and ground, and we steadily picked away at the fish. There was a lot of pouting caught, some small whiting and coleys, with the odd better Cod and Ling making an appearance.

We hit a good patch of mackerel and got some for bait and the BBQ.

They say there's no substitute for experience, but young Zak blew that theory out of the water today. At just eight years old, he had a great day, netting the best fish (pictured) a Cod of around 6lb mark and landed the most keepers. Well done Zak, you showed the seasoned campaigners how it's done.

Daylites, with a variety of baits: prawn, squid, red dyed prawns and mackerel strip accounted for most of the fish, the shads didn't really pay dividends today.

Hopefully the prevailing northerly and easterly winds will disappear shortly and summer fishing will get going. It would be good to get the winter jacket off for the day.
