First time out on Mistress Linda today, with skipper Philip Higgins. Skip kept us on fish all day, out of the weather and the kettle was constantly on. Undulates to 20lb, plaice, smooth hounds and mackerel. Would recommend this boat if any is looking to go out of Poole harbour.

Had a cracking day out with Phil (skipper) and Carl (deck hand) today. Phil really tried to put us on the fish which resulted in a 15lb (approx) undulate. Totally recommend this boat, loads of room and great facilities. Will definitely be using this chapter and skipper again. You won't be disappointed.

First outing in 20+ years with my son, first time with Phil and with Mistress Linda, Top Skipper, friendly, with extensive local knowledge, sadly the fish weren't playing but its not always about getting the fish, had a great time and my son enjoyed the experience too. Cheers Phil, will be seeing you ... best Rob and Darragh

First time out on Mistress Linda in difficult conditions, but skipper Philip managed to get us on the fish
Skippers Reponse: Thank you Paul, as you stated the conditions were challenging thanks to the constant series of bad weather we have suffered but we did manage a few fish, overall catch was below my expectations.

Fishing Report by Philip Higgins
3 Oct 2024 by Philip Higgins
After 40 amazing years as a charter skipper on medical advice I have to call it a day ( a very sad day for me). The journey has allowed me to meet some great anglers who started as customers but became lifelong friends and I thank every one of you for joining me on the way. There are so many highlights over the years and so many great catches to days when we struggled to buy a bite but that is the wonder of fishing. The treasured memories will last forever and I have so many pics taken on the boat I can look back on . Now to follow the docs orders and get fit. Thank you all for your friendship and I look forward to meeting you as an angler next time.

For a change we choose to punch the tide and go to the Jurassic Coast marks enjoying the stunning scenery on the way, as we arrived the birds were working and as soon as the feathers hit the water we were into decent size Mackeral. After a little search we choose to anchor a spot often fished in years gone past by the legendary Poole skipper Pat Manley and within minutes we were into fish, Pollack, Congers, dogs and plenty of very good quality bream the biggest falling to Andy M at 3lb 7ozs. The good fishing lasted all through the tide and most of the bream were returned.

The Bream fishing continues to excel with some very noteable catches, sadly the Plaice and Ray fishing has taken a short downturn as we found out over the last few days on the upside we have had some good sport with plenty of Tope to 30lb Congers and dogs along with a bonus Brill .

Fishing Report by Philip Higgins
8 May 2024 by Philip Higgins
After a long period of unsettled weather last week was fantastic with calm seas, blue skies and temperatures more normal for this time of year and the fishing did not let us down. We were engaged in the Bream tagging project and were tasked with catching x amount of Black Bream to be tagged and released which was achieved very quickly. The team from Plymouth Uni went to work operating on each bream and after the recovery period swam away as they finished we were treated to a group of playful Dolphins jumping all around the boat and as fortune was on our side we had already deployed an acoustic receiver to listen to the bream and record the tagged fish nearby but this was completely drowned out by the Dolphins making their trademark clicking noises everyone onboard took lots of pics and recordings of the bream and dolphins. It also gave Tanya from NE to join in and catch her 1st sea fish which made her day.
The other trips produced lots of good quality Bream and Mackeral with the odd Bass taking the small bream baits. -

Fishing Report by Philip Higgins

At last some decent weather and sun, on Saturday the wind created a massive swell that forced us to fish close to the Harbour, we caught 11 species including several decent sized Black Bream, Brill, Hounds, Gurnards , Plaice, Rays etc. Sunday saw flat calm seas, hard frost and clear skies at our 1st mark the dogs dominated with a couple of Brill and a few whiting , the next mark produced Rays Whiting and more dogs after another move and more dogs we returned to our 1st mark and added a Turbot to the list. Overall a really encouraging start to spring.
