THE FISHING
Renowned worldwide for it's quality sea fishing heritage, Scarborough on the beautiful Yorkshire coast is the ideal port to charter a boat for an angling trip.
Luckily for Scarborough there is many places to fish, most of these places we fish are Natural scars of rock, kelp beads, And generally really rough ground ideal for Cod and Pollock Fishing. there are many marks we fish some are only a few minutes away from the harbour and others can span up to filey brigg or ravenscar again two very good Cod and Pollock grounds.
Also close to Scarborough are many old ship wrecks, mainly ships that were sunk in the war, and some old trawlers. these wrecks can produce good Cod, Ling, Pollock, and Many other fish.

WE ARE THE ONLY CHARTER BOAT THAT OPERATES ALL YEAR AROUND FROM SCARBOROUGH.
Nick is a keen match angler fishing from the boat and the shore. Over many years he has fished in several Scarborough Clubs that he has gathered many trophies and prizes. As well as fishing Nick also enjoys gathering and digging his own bait to ensure he has the best possible bait.
Nick has worked aboard Skylark since 2012 taking passengers out, before then Nick fished on private angling vessels out of Scarborough harbour starting with his uncles boat the " Clare Louise a tremlett 21"
Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Nick with his lifelong knowledge of the area will take you to the best spots for a successful day’s fishing.
First and foremost Nick is an angler and admits to having a passion for bait fishing from the shore and the boat for Cod. During the summer Nick feels there is not any type of better fishing than catching Pollock on light tackle using lures. Obviously cod is the main target species of all the charter boats and we have had some excellent fish with both quality and quantity coming aboard
In 2015 Nick also started Skylark Tackle expanding the buissness into tackle and bait sales and also fabricating fishing equipment.

Had the most amazing 3 hour fishing trip on Wednesday whuch ended up with us catching, Ling, Cod, Mackerel, and a great sized Pollock. Ling over 11lb
Great family time spent with my wife and son and cannot recommend doing anything better for an adventure you'll never forget. All tackle and bait provided with expert tuition that we took to on our first cast. Actually took us wreck fishing 5 miles out and came back to stop Mackerel fishing close to the harbour. We're sure to come back -

We had a fantastic time fishing on the skylark, for my sons 18th birthday, he caught a ling, mackerel and herring, he was so chuffed, the skipper even gave us an extra hour so everyone had a chance to catch a fish, really pleasant experience and would highly recommend anyone thinking of going fishing. We will be returning next year for a longer trip.

We booked the 3hr trip for a family of
4. It was a bit delayed heading out but we weren’t disappointed. We shared the boat with 6 others and Nick kept us all informed. Within 2 mins we caught a fish which was great. It went a little quiet (as is the nature of fishing…no guarantees) so we moved somewhere else. Nick was a great skipper (who is also involved with RNLI), and the time flew by. My eldest caught two and my wife (who has no interest in fishing) caught a cod!!!! Nick shared lots of interesting stories and we stayed out longer to give us more chances to catch stuff as well as letting the kids skipper the boat. We LOVED it. Thanks to Nick!!!Skippers Reponse: Many thanks for your time writing a review and hope to see you again
Many thanks Nick Gough

Had a great 3hr fishing trip this afternoon. Everyone caught loads of fish and Nick was a great skipper and very friendly and informative. He also filleted all our fish for us and we have just eaten it with some chips from the chip shop! Would definitely recommend this boat trip. Thanks again.

Fishing Report by Nick Gough
28 Oct 2024 by Nick Gough
What a completely different day today was to yesterday the sea was like glass most of the day with hardly any wind.
We started off anchoring as the tide was at its strongest and strait away we had the rods bouncing with codling and pouting steadily coming over the rail.
We didn't see the dogfish at all and had a smaller stamp of cod showing around the 2 to 3lb area with 1 cod about 5lb
Fishing slowed down halfway through the trip so we ran offside to catch the slacker part of the tide and first few drifts were pretty much blanks just the odd pouting coming up then after a few drifts in we started seeing more codling.
Best fish of the day was a 9lb 4oz cod.
Water clarity off at a mile was quite surprising and we also managed to get a few fresh mackerel aswel which is probably the latest I've ever seen them caught. -

8 hour fishing the ground inshore as awe had quite strong winds then when the weather aloud we ran to some inshore wrecks.
We seamed to catch a lot of dogfish and pouting with the occasional better fished mixed in
Nothing huge caught but not a bad stamp of cod around the 4lb area and heaviest fish was a 6lb 2oz ling -

Fishing Report by Nick Gough
19 Oct 2024 by Nick Gough
It's been a while since our last trip with the run of poor weather and sea conditions
But we managed to still find some really good fish on the inshore grounds still.
Best fish today was a 9lb 2oz Pollock with the same angler also catching a nice 8lb Pollock also
As well as Pollock the customers had a good amount of Cod, pouting, lesser spotted dogfish and Ballen wrasse to keep them busy all day.
The wildlife the customers had pretty much all day leaving the harbour and passing a pod of 40+ bottle nose dolphins heading south. Then seals, porpoise and the dolphins passed us several times while fishing and on the way back we were greatest with them again in the South Bay. -

Fishing Report by Nick Gough
18 Sep 2024 by Nick Gough
As the tides had dramatically built up in the last few days up to 6.4m we decided to give uptide and downtime fishing ago at anchor.
Withing minutes we the customers started getting bites and a good amount of dogfish and Ballen wrasse made a appearance.
We did manage to get a few codlings aswel then fishing tried up as the tide slowed down so we relocated and fishing picked back up producing a few more cod.
As the tide completely slackened off inshore we tried a few inshore wrecks over slack water which produces more pouting a few more codling and a lonely strappy Ling. -

8 hour trip
We don't normally like wrecking on a ride so big but as the customers really wanted to try for a bigger fish we gave it a go.
Fishing was very slow from the start with us fishing the strongest part of the tide drifting at a good 2 knots
The anglers did manage to pick up a few whiting and pouting.
As the tides eased back fishing improved with the anglers managing to catch a few strappy ling around the 5 to 11lb area.
Slack water was the most productive time which we expected
While out fishing we had a lot of gannets diving around us with porpoise surfacing with the odd seal popping it head. We had several minki Whales also passing us.
As we travelled back to the harbour we managed to find a pod of approximately 60+ bottle nose dolphins passing us.
