FLAMER IV FISHY NEWS July 2013 - 61 year old Paul Costello from Plymstock,Devon landed a 6Ib Plaice while on an angling break with the Gypsy Mariners Fishing Club from Plymstock,Plymouth, Devon.Paul was using 8Ib class tackle with a two hook flatty trace baited with ragworm and strips of Ammo squid.Paul is pictured with his six pounder.The group also caught lots of other species which included Turbot,Brill,Black Bream,Thornback Ray Red Gurnards,Pollack,Conger,Mackerel,Dog Fish,Pout,Poor Cod ,Ballan Wrasse and many more.Over the 5 day angling break the group did a competition and the Results were Winner - Mark Cooper 410 points,Runner Up - Paul Costello 336 points,Best Fish Prize was won by Paul Costello with a 6Ib Plaice,Runner Up was Chris Harriss with a 4Ib 4oz Plaice. The club are already looking to book their angling break for 2014.

FLAMER IV FISHY NEWS June 2013 - Chris Harriss age 60 something and a member of the Gypsy Mariners Fishing Club from Plmstock,Devon landed a 4Ib 4oz Plaice while on the clubs annual angling break aboard Flamer IV.Chris was using a spreader rig baited with ragworm and a strip of Ammo squid.Happy Chris is pictured with his four pound plus Plaice.The group also caught lots of other species which included Turbot,Brill,Black Bream,Thornback Ray Red Gurnards,Pollack,Mackerel,Dog Fish,Pout,Poor Cod and many more.The club are already looking to book their angling break for 2014.

FLAMER IV FISHY NEWS June 2013 - Ashley Storton age 38 from Braunton,Devon landed two Plaice weighing 5Ib and 5Ib 2oz on his recent flatty trip aboard Flamer IV. Ashley was using a wishbone rig and vibro spoon.I always say "the bigger the bait the bigger the Plaice will be caught" well Ashey tested and proved this theory by putting on lots of rag and lugworm with strips of Ammo squid.Ashley is pictured with his 5Ib 2oz Plaice..

A good weekend 29th/30th June aboard 'Just Mary' from Poole on a reef to the east of Poole Bay. Surprisingly we were on our own with the whole reef to ourselves. Black Bream in prime condition with big blue male fish and females still with roe, just like early May fish but in late June ! Good numbers and good size fish to my experienced local lads and some decent quality fish to my hire rod group and youngsters from a local Youthclub, with some catching their first ever sea fish, like the man from Fladen says, 'Anyone can Fish !' Well on 'Just Mary' we can prove that to be true ! I hope these prime condition fish continue well into July, it's nice to get out for two days without the threat of Gale force winds, and find that the Bream are still here in quality and quantity. FLAMER IV FISHY NEWS JUNE 2013 - Don Wheeler age 79 from Ringwood landed his Personal Best Brill weighing 8Ib which is a superb specimen for the area.Don was using a Shakespeare uptide rod with a flowing trace and a size 4/0 Sakuma hook baited with a strip of Ammo mackerel.Don is pictured with his prize catch.

Simon Ringrose from Oxford is pictured proudly holding up a brace of four pound plus Bass which he caught while drifting a wreck. Simon also landed several Pollack during the same trip.Simon was using 12Ib class tackle with a flying collar rig and the successful lure was a rhubarb and custard sidewinder.The other anglers on board also caught Bass and Pollack on mainly rhubarb and custard side winder lures.

Taking full advantage of this continued good weather at the moment, nice to see such a wide spread of fish across the grounds. The bass have turned up in full force both inshore and offshore with a range of sizes averaging at 5lb using the live mackerel method mostly. Looking forward to getting back over the channel after a few more bass trips this week.

FLAMER IV FISHY NEWS JUNE 2013 - Frank Sapsford age 59 caught a 14Ib Pollack while on a two day Angling Break with his friends.Frank was using 15Ib class tackle with a flying collar rig and a rhubarb and custard lure. Frank is pictured with his Pollack..Franks Pollack was just one of many caught on the day by the group on a variety of lures.

"UNCLE ALBERT GETS FLATTY DOUBLE"
FLAMER IV FISHY NEWS June 2013 - 73 year old Albert Borg from St Albans landed his first ever Turbot weighing 16Ib while on a two day Angling Break aboard Flamer IV with organiser Frank Sapsford and friends.Albert was using a 12/20Ib Penn Wave Blaster boat rod with a flowing trace and Sakuma 4/0 hook baited with a strip of Ammo mackerel. Albert is pictured with his Personal Best Turbot.

An Email I received from Ashley, "Hello Colin. Just a quick email to say a thankyou for wednesdays trip. That 5lb 14oz plaice I had beat my previous best of 2lb12oz that i got on the skerries by over 3lb. I was only saying to jon patten the other day I would be happy with a 4lb fish & he assured me i would get one with you! See you on the 30th thanks again & tight lines". Ashley storton
