The last 3 days fishing have been in strong North West then North and today in North East winds with some gusts up to 28 kts over the cliffs but the fishing has been exceptional for the time of year with 50 plus Plaice every day along with loads of big Garfish, Gurnards and a few Black and Gilthead Bream. The conditions under the cliffs with the wind in these directions affords us plenty of shelter and the anglers have enjoyed the fishing although breezy and cold the closeness to shore means it is calm. Once the weather settles our attention will turn to Cod and Whiting so wrap up warm and come and join us.

This week has been a bit unpredictable the early part of the week the water was so coloured that it affected the fishing but as the week progressed the water cleared and normal fishing was resumed with some quality fish inc a superb 21lb 12 ozs Undulate Ray for new angler Wayne. Yesterday we went offshore and found plenty of Tope ,Eels , small Pollack and a few Bream which unlike previous years were smaller than expected. Today we ventured out to try something new and found plenty of quality Plaice and some early Channel Whiting. Since the Bass restrictions have been lifted we have not landed one over the boat imposed size of 46cms so their have been a few lucky fish returned. It has been refreshing to see the Whiting come in early and the size has been better than usual for the start.
    More updates to follow

TOPE ATTACK - On my latest Reef/Bank Trip it was a small tide so I anchored a mark South off the Shambles Bank and spent a hectic four and half hours there. First we were catching Pouts and Scad then as the tide picked up the fishing really got going with lots of Black Bream, Congers, Bull Huss, Gurnards but it was the Tope fishing that excelled and they just kept coming with most fish in the 10Ib to 25Ib range, Kevin Clark allias "K9" has a new nick name now "Tope 10", Kevin just kept catching them and you guessed it he stopped at 10 and then went Bream fishing. Phil Harrison who usually only does Wrecking trips really enjoyed the Tope fishing and is hooked on it now.
The Tope were also following the Bream and Pouts up to the boat.
Bait - The Tope were taking Squid, Mackerel baits, but the best bait was the Scad we were catching which were quickly disspatched and put on the hooks.
Needless to say my arms are aching with taking so many Tope off the hooks, but it was really good fun.
SCAD - we first noticed that Scad was a good bait during this years Weymouth Conger Festival when Mackerel were few and far between Which brings me to the 2019 Weymouth Conger Festival on August 26th,27th,28th, at present there are some places available on Flamer IV, If you fancy having a go then Contact me ASAP.

    WRECK TRIP
My latest Wrecking trip saw the morning session produce only a few Pollack after trying several wrecks how ever in the afternoon it all bucked up with a change of tide and on one particular wreck a good catch of Pollack and some Bass was put together producing some smiles on the anglers faces.White lures seemed to be the best colour on the day. Pictured is Ian Nash with his 5Ib Bass.
My next Wreck trips with places available are on November 3rd, 11th, these will be my last wreck trips of 2018, I will start wreck trips again in January 2019.

October has been a great month so far with plenty of variety, as you can see from our latest catches we’ve had two new boat records the first being a scad on a recent visit from the England fishing team for their annual squad weekend caught while fishing for bream of just under 2lb for Colin Searls and the second being a porbeagle shark of 160lb and we are only in our second week of the month. We have the wibac competition to look forward to along with the arrival of the squid. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call the diary is also open for next year to book early.
