    Report on-board Meerkat

Well the news we've all been waiting for did we catch any sharks or not? and the answer is yes but not just 1 or 2 we had 13 boated in the end with 3 runs also dropped, a total of 9 blues up to 65/70lb and 4 porgies up to 45/50lb and we also seen 4 Tuna whilst we was fishing away. An experience I will never forget and hopefully many more trips down this way with new groups to show them what it's all about.
A lot of time and preparation this year went into trying to find something new we could offer for our anglers aboard Meerkat and being the first boat to figurer these sort of trips out makes me the first group to try it extremely proud of what we have achieved after only one day shark fishing and two days trying new things around Dartmouth, we've done extremely well on what we have achieved. I would just like to thank the group I had for this trip for coming to Weymouth to travel west and trusting me that I wasn't just a mad man trying something stupid also everyone behind the scenes who helped getting all the little things ready what made it all come together and a massive thank you to Mike Wallis from Wally's Shark rigs who is now a proud sponsor of Meerkat and is supplying us with some of the best quality shark traces you're money can buy and he will be supplying for all of our future shark trips for all our sharking needs.
If you are looking for 3/4/5 day trips for the future this is the way to go, this would be a rough lay out of what we would be offering.
Day 1 Plaice fishing on the skerries and bait fishing for the sharks.
Day 2/3 Targeting the Sharks, all sharking gear will be provided on all these trips. The aim is for everyone to catch a shark and to try have no blanks, so the rods will be shared around in a friendly way to ensure everyone has a chance.
Day 4 travelling home and trying the wrecks for Pollock and Bass.
Sorry for all the writing but proud and over excited is the right way to put it.
If you fancy having ago next year I do have limited spaces available or if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

    Report on-board Meerkat

    ***** SHARK TRIPS 2018 *****

We can now safely say we can offer Shark trips aboard Meerkat anything from 3 to 5 days away to Dartmouth.

Rough lay out on what to expect on a 4 day trip away to this amazing bit of coast line.

Day 1 Bait/ Ground bait fishing for the Sharks then a drive to the Skerries bank for some Plaice fishing and we are only a 20 minute drive to the harbour then.

Day 2/3 it will be all about the Sharks leaving in between 7/8 and returning any where between 5/7pm and i will have a restaurant already booked for when we get back for dinner if you want to join us. If the weather is to bad for Shark fishing we will stay around Dartmouth and target all the mixture fishing, Pollock, Plaice, Conger, Huss etc but the aim is to get everyone into a Shark at some point.

Day 4 Home time:( on the way home we will stop for some fresh mackerel for your tea and if there are plenty top up my ground bait bin, then off to the wrecks to try for some Pollock and Bass.

The days may change around a little depending on length of trip and also the weather but are main aim is for everyone to have a great and enjoyable time away with no stress involved.

All Shark gear will be supplied at no extra cost and ground bait will be provided free of charge. If for some reason we cant get enough ground bait before your trip an extra little cost will be asked for so we can buy you some fresh fish for are ground bait mixture but its a maximum of £15pp and that is last resort.

We will have 9 on the boat to keep the cost down for everybody and there will be 6 rods out for the Sharks so i will be managing a time schedule so its fair for everybody. If we are coming to the end of the day and there are a coupe of people with no fish then we will let them have ago and if that doesn't work on the second day they will be on the rods first. The aim is for everyone to have ago and to keep it as fair and as cheap as possible. as we are fishing for the Sharks and its not your turn i am happy for you to fish on the bottom for the Whiting/ Gurnards or Mackerel as long as they are not catching are other rods.

I can book all B&B for you but if you fancy finding some where your self just ask and ive got a big recommendation list.

Prices for a 3 day trip is £250pp, 4 days £340pp, 5 days £420 or for a Whole boat booking £750 a day. Please allow on top for your B&Bs.

If you have any questions about these type of trips please feel free to ask on 07776182782 or ryancasey1@hotmail.com

Dates in 2018 for these time of trips.

July 16th to the 19th 4 day trip. 5 Spaces available

October 8th to the 11th 4 day trip. 1 Space available

If i get enough interest for a 3 day trip i will start one off.

    Report on-board Silver Spray II

The Headline trip for the last month only just squeezed into this report as it happened just two days ago. Our planned trip to target ling and black bream was met with perfect conditions for a change. With so many of the small neap tides getting blown off by high winds this year I have to admit I was sceptical at times leading up to it. Happy to be proved wrong on this occasion we headed over the horizon and after a cup tea and a few drifts the tide was right to chuck the anchor in and get down to the serious stuff. First up were the ling taking mackerel flappers and heavy hok-eye rigs baited with squid. A frantic hour saw plenty of ling mixed in with congers come to the boat until the tide started to cut away and they went off the feed, as was expected. After our success with the big gear people were reluctant to switch over to the lighter stuff, Mickey Claire from coventry landing our first bream of the day at 5lb 12oz soon speeded up the transition however. Bob Summers followed that up with a cracking PB of 5lb before a few more congers and even a couple of cod on the lighter gear. We saved the best for last though as Mickey Claire made it quite an incredible brace when he wrestled another black bream to the boat just before slack. This time around it weighed in at 6lb 8oz, just shy of the british record and certainly a new boat record for us at Silver Spray. Talk about a red letter day, what a monster fish, well done Mickey that’s going to be a tough one to beat. The bass fishing of late definitely deserves a mention. The usual lures and live baits working well, it's been nice to see so many fish coming up around the slack water on cut baits. Kev Lee topping the charts this month with a fine fish of 9lb 8oz on mackerel strip. Further inshore the plaice fishing in Poole Bay has been brilliant, not just the numbers of fish showing up but also some real whoppers. Frazer Jones landed one of 4lb 8oz after over 2 years without a fishing trip to his name. And to round off a brilliant months fishing we managed to land a porbeagle shark on our first try of the year. Caught by Casey Alcock on his birthday the fish took one and a half hours to bring to the boat and was estimated to be 150-180lb, a truly magnificent creature. We are coming up to our last trip over to Alderney this year, looking forward to next year the dates are starting to fill up already so get in touch if you are interested in a list of dates.

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

    Hi
After the success of the weekend Trigger fishing the planned trip to head west for Rays, Tope and Congers it was decided as these species would still be around in a couple of weeks time to take advantage of the superb Trigger fishing available so the Christchurch Angling Centre team geared up for mega light fishing and were soon rewarded with Plaice after Plaice, England shore angler Toby did not have the best of starts as he stood watching everyone else landing fish while he could not buy a bite. As the fish kept coming the time was fast approaching to put the anchor in for Triggers as they would start to feed soon. Julian was 1st to land a Trigger quickly followed by another double shot of Triggers ( not seen before this weekend now have 2 for the record) this was special for Julian as he had never caught one before then not to be out done Toby found his mojo landing lots of bream and finally his 1st Trigger and as a bream was lifted out of the water another Trigger followed the bottom bait which we left just below the surface and the Trigger swam around the bait mouthing it and just playing to our amusement before swimming off. Some good tides coming up for those big big Bream on the offshore marks this time of year so come and join us for some out of the box fishing.
    All the best
    Phil

    Report on-board Just Mary

Hi All, another busy weekend aboard 'Just Mary' from Poole having Sold all ten Singles/Individuals spaces on both days, Saturday and the Sunday. With the right Neap tides Plan 'A' was always to travel to the Jurassic Coast in search of Big Fish. After a week of strong winds beforehand Saturday was calm and with flat seas we travelled to our intended destination. We found sufficient Mackerel, Garfish and Scad to commence our session on anchor. Two Congers came to two of my Hire rod Anglers and were duly photographed and returned alive. Also Dogfish and Bream but the latter again small. Before slack a move three miles South of Dancing Ledge and again at anchor produced more Conger including an over 2 metre specimen weighing 50lb for local Angler Dave Wing plus personal best Tope including a 40lb fish for Paul Green. Sunday and same plan same result with the return of my Apprentice Alex Kweller and his Thamesdown Pirates Anglers plus some new faces and locals with Nick Tate. More Personal Best fish landed and another good day although overall the size of the fish was less than on Saturday which had more Hire rods. More Jurassic Coast in a fortnights time and some great Neap tides to come, all the best, ta Malc.

Instead of doing Ray fishing during the slack tides we gambled and choose to hunt for the illusive Trigger Fish as the Marden Edwards group had not landed any between them, after a slow start Chris landed a new boat record of a Trigger double shot then Graeme not to be out done landed 5 Triggers on the trot, the organiser Pete Evans got in on the act followed by Simon Rushent in total we had 11 Triggers, lots of Plaice Bream and Gurnards.
In all it was a great days fishing and as the tides build for next week more Trigger action to follow (hopefully)
