Report on-board Flamer IV
While other anglers Flounder, Flamer IV anglers are happy Soles and a Dab hand at catching Plaice. A drifting session with ragworm, prawn and squid strip baits produced Plaice ranging from 2Ib 8oz to 4Ib 14oz. Rick Hawkins landing the biggest weighing in at 4Ib 14oz which is the best Plaice landed on Flamer IV this year and is pictured.Rick won a Flamer IV Catch of the day trophy for his flatty.
LOOK - Since the unfortunate demise of the mussel beds I have been trying out different areas looking for Plaice and have had some reasonable success with Plaice up to 5Ib 13oz and again this year I am doing the same and have had Plaice generally ranging from 2Ib to 4Ib 14oz.
ON JUNE 14th 2017 I am going to do a Plaice trip trying the marks/areas I have found and may be look and try some new areas. If you would like to come along on this trip then please contact me a.s.a.p.

FLAMER IV ANGLING BREAK - Stephan Attwood, Bryan Osbourne,Kevin Clark were joined by like minded individuals for an angling break for a few days. A variety of fishing was done on Reef,Banks and Wrecks which saw several species caught like Turbot,Rays,Plaice,Cod,Pollack,Ling,Smooth Hounds,Gurnards and many more.Stephan Attwood did particularly well with the Ray fishing. He was also the winner of the friendly and slightly competitive competition done during the angling break,Bryan Osbourne was Runner Up, Kevin Clark was the weakest Link. (Pictured are Stephan and Bryan with their trophies.
Weymouth Angling Breaks
A few days away fishing out of Weymouth along with the social side is a nice trip to do.The variety of fishing and the amount of different species caught at Weymouth is probably second to none. There are plenty of places to stay which are angler friendly and some excellent places to wine and dine around the harbour and in Weymouth Town centre.
If you want to try a Weymouth Angling Break then contact me, I cater for whole boat charters and individuals.
Planning your trip well in advance is essential you need to arrange your boat booking and your accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment, some of my regular groups plan their trips at least 12 months in advance, this allows them to discuss with me the best tides for the type of fishing they are targeting.View Boats Page

Fishing Report by Philip Higgins
on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
Bream continue to dominate the inshore fishing with lots of good catches being reported. Today’s angler is far more conservation minded and return many more than they take for the table which ensures future stocks and the sport of this wonderful fishery. Unfortunately a large pod of Dolphins arrived which is wonderful to witness when they swim with the boat and jump out of the water but devastating to the fishing. During a club match with coincidentally Poole Dolphins SAC on board we were enjoying very good fishing until a large pod of Dolphins swam by and put the fish down, after a quiet spell the fish came back on the feed.
Chris Bowden landed a cracking Smoothhound weighing in at 14lb 4ozs whilst bream fishing using very light tackle, the fish had the upper hand for the 1st 5 minutes making several good runs and taking Chris all around the boat eventually Chris gained control and landed the fish, his bait was a tiny squid strip presented on a size 6 circle hook and 12lb line.
The Plaice fishing has not been as consistent as last month with catches varying from 46 one day to 3 the next, severe weed in the Swash has hampered the fishing. Along the shores and between the Piers has seen some of the better quality fish coming in along with a few Turbot and Gurnards, Melanie Burgess landed her 1st Plaice during a short afternoon family trip which saw lots more come aboard and her beating her brother (the fishermen) who was not amused.
Wreck fishing has taken a slight dip in catch rates but still is producing Pollack and a few Cod, we are now coming into the prime time for wreck Cod so catches and quality will improve.
The next few months see the best of the inshore fishing where lots of species will be caught and hopefully a few surprize ones will also hit the headlines. Last weekend we fished off the St Albans area and found some nice Bull Huss and a few Tope before returning to Poole Bay to catch more BreamView Boats Page

Report on-board Silver Spray II
Despite a week or so of easterly winds the fishing from Poole has been very good in the last month. We have mostly been bream fishing, with great success on the marks in the Bay. The size of the fish we are seeing has been very encouraging with plenty of 3lb plus fish hitting the baits. The best bream so far has been Barry Culver's 4lb 8oz PB which was caught on squid head. As well as the bigger fish we have had some good numbers on other marks too, usually a smaller stamp so plenty returned for next season. Our first Alderney trip went well, with some cracking brill on the banks being the highlight. The wreck fishing was very quiet in late April but I'm pleased to say that its picked back up again now and we are starting to see the first of the cod. The mackerel have started to arrive as well, how long they will stick around for is another matter, we have had catches off Poole, Alderney and in the Channel. Looking forward to some more wrecking trips over the coming weeks to target some big cod.

Fishing Report by Philip Higgins
on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
The new gearboxes arrived and have been installed so off fishing we went, the weather for the weekend seemed to favour Bream fishing which from the moment we dropped anchor produced good sized bream with several double shots and a few Pollack as a bonus. Once again Steve and his crew returned over 90% of the catch demonstrating a good conservation minded approach to angling. Sunday saw much the same in the morning with plenty of bream being landed and again returned but the weather in the afternoon caused the boat to swing around too much and much tackle was donated to the seabed so we had a short time Plaice fishing which resulted in far too much seaweed coming aboard, now plan C came into affect fishing the bank at the end of the Swash Channel for rays and Hounds of which we were successful in both not big fish but good fun on spinning rods.
Plenty of spaces available to enjoy some good Bream fishing so please call and enjoy a day out.
all the best

The latest Reef/Bank trip provided some good sport with Bull huss,Conger, Tope, Smooth hounds, Undulate, Thornback and Spotted Rays being caught along with the usual Dogfish and Pouts. John Billett did particularly well catching a 14Ib Bull Huss and a 25Ib 1oz Tope which gave him a tug on his tackle and poor old John broke his rod in the process of landing the Tope, how ever John did win a Flamer IV catch of the day trophy for his efforts. John is pictured with his Tope.
The Next Reef/Bank Trips with places available are on May 24th, 28th,June 4th, 7th,24th,

Report on-board Just Mary
Hi All, despite the persistent Easterly winds a week of trips have found us on local marks, Southbourne Rough and Poole Rocks seeking out some nice prime condition hard fighting Black Bream. Taking only males for the table and releasing females still full of roe unharmed back to the Sea. A week spent in good company and not always in ideal conditions but still the fish come to the landing net ! My star of the week is Neville from London a septuagenarian who drives an AC Cobra replica and loves his Inshore fishing on 'Just Mary' with his 'classic' fishing tackle still doing the 'business'. Just proving that age or tackle choice is no bar to catching good fish on 'Just Mary' from Poole who is herself a 'Classic' Angling Charter Boat of the Seas. All the best to You All, ta Malc.....see you soon !
