The Albion SAC usually fish on a Sunday but this year have also done a few Saturdays and thankfully they did as Sunday's forecast was 20kt + easterly winds. The fishing was as predicted plenty of Plaice, Dabs, Gurnards and for Keith Trim another nice Brill this followed one caught last weekend, earlier in the week Mackeral had returned and were caught in good numbers only to disappear quickly. As dark descends Squid can be caught near the Piers. Good to see a few Channel Whiting making an appearance as well
The IOW Cod marks are starting to produce so now is the time to check the Mistress Linda availability schedule and book a trip, during Nov Dec and Jan I will be running a few Flounder trips for those enthusiasts so if you would like to join please call.
look forward to seeing you soon

  • 10/2016 Fishing Report by Sam Cumming on Silver Spray II (Poole, Dorset)

    Report on-board Silver Spray II

Although I haven't quite got round to doing the first trip to the Isle of White for the cod and whiting it is certainly feeling a bit more wintery this month. For the last couple of weeks wind from the east or northeast has kept us on our toes. Despite similar forecasts for high northeast winds and rain, we managed to get 3 out of 4 days in on our last trip to Alderney and Cherbourg this season. Fishing was good with 18 species coming to the boat over the 3 days. Highlight of the trip had to be a session at anchor on a wreck on the last day as we came back across the channel in an easterly 4. I've always heard lots of mythical stories of anglers catching big turbot when fishing for congers in front of a wreck but never seen one myself until now. Simon Ringrose, using a whole mackerel flapper on a heavy trace, landed a superb 16lb 4oz turbot to start the session off. The guys then got stuck into plenty of ling and congers followed by some decent bream as the tide cut away. Further inshore anglers have been getting stuck into plenty of tope and rays on the banks as well as the late run of bream on some of the reef marks. Last trip down for flats this weekend along with the first up to the Needles for the cod.

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

The forecast was giving high winds and lots of rain but the anglers wanted to go fishing so the only option was to fish Poole Harbour, many other boats cancelled their trips but we decided to go. On the morning before leaving home the heavens opened but as I got into the car there was in the distance blue skies and NO wind for once the BBC had got it wrong in my favour. We proceeded to venture out of the Harbour to find a flat sea with a slight swell, once fishing we were immediately into Plaice this continued all day with at the last count around midday of over 70 Plaice and other species, as the trip went on the wind started to arrive and as the rain came we called it a day lots of Plaice, Bream, Gurnards, Mackeral , Bass A great days fishing

  • 10/2016 Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Oct 2016 by Lyle Stantiford

    Report on-board Supanova II

Since the last report things have been fairly hectic.

August was fairly slow on the fishing front to be honest apart from anchoring on the wrecks where plenty of Bream could be found for those on squid baits and a steady run of decent pollack and the odd Bass falling to live Mackerel.
Congers for those that wanted to target them were plentiful and Tope as you swing away from the wreck proved a bit of fun. Plenty of blown off trips in August! What more can you expect when the kids are off school.

September gathered pace quickly and saw us complete our final 2 runs to Alderney, Fishing was patchy but Bass, Bream, Pollack, Tope, Brill and Turbot all featured. In Weymouth Turbot and Brill fishing has been frantic although mostly small fish there has been the odd good Brill around to 9lb, The small fish certainly Bodes well for the coming seasons. Bream fishing was good and has got better and better as the weeks have gone by with some cracking fish around, with the best numbers of fish over alb I have seen for a very long time. Kidney Banks have fished for Blonde rays fairly steadily but the shortage of squid for bait hasn't helped this. Bass have been few and far between and what we have found has mostly been small.

The remainder of October and into November should see continued decent Bream and Turbot fishing, improving Bass fishing and the arrival of everyones favourite the ATLANTIC SQUID!!

Thanks to all for continuing to make Weymouth what it is and offering the finest fleet in the UK your support and custom. We all appreciate it!!

    Tight Lines,

    Lyle
