    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

    Hi
With the unseasonal warm weather and the prolonged gales we are suffering the fishing trips have been hit hard during the last 4 weeks 14 of the 16 trips have been cancelled but on the occasions we did get out the catches were good with quality and quantity of Whiting backed up by Ray's, Congers, Bass, Winter Pollack, big Pout and the bait robbing Swanage Bay Reefshark (dogfish) which hammered every bait the minute it hit the sea bed. We are still catching the summer species Gurnards, Smoothhounds pups and a few Mackeral. Although Cod are our main target they have illuded me since winning the top charter boat prize in the Poole Cod comp.
Poole harbour is producing good numbers of Flounders on the right tides and this type of fishing is very relaxing and great fun on ultra light gear.
During the Christmas week I am operating every day so if you would like a days fishing please give me a call.
All the best and wishing you all
A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

  • 11/2015 Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Nov 2015 by Lyle Stantiford

    Report on-board Supanova II

    Hi All,

October was a pretty decent month weather wise, decent numbers and probably the best stamp of Bream I have seen for quite a few years. It was all about the spring tides that's for sure. Inshore tight to Chesil beach say some decent catches of Plaice although not big fish that we are used to they gave a good account of themselves on light tackle. Bass catches on the big tides were somewhat patchy but some decent fish around if you were lucky to land on them. A wrecking trip towards the end of October accounted for decent numbers of Cod which for us here in Weymouth is unheard of. Some decent Pollack also featured so this is a fantastic sign for the first designated Pollack trips in December and January. Small tides inshore have allowed us to get on some cracking Blonde Rays with up to 30 fish a trip all returned. Best fish was around 25lb with some anglers landing up to a dozen fish a trip. Really good sport. Fantastic results from the Shambles during October and into November of Brill and Turbot with up to 15 fish a session which is a marked improvement on last year.

November has been battered with west-southwest Gales which although unwelcome has been a nice change to the relentless easterly winds we have had this year. So only a handful of trips have featured with once again Blonde Rays prominent on small tides, Bass, Whiting and Turbot and Brill have proved plentiful on most recent trips. A few quick stops for squid on the way in has been great fun with plenty of laughs and plenty of ink being squirted around!

As the season winds down it's time to begin to reflect on another busy season here in Weymouth and thank you all once again for your continued support to the top port in the UK. We all thank you very much.

Between Christmas and New Year I will be running some Pollack trips out to the wrecks, so if you need to get away and get some fresh air give me a call/text 07976876667. Trips will be running on 27th/28th/29th December.

Pictured is Byron Jones from Newport, South Wales with a nice 9lb Bass.

    Tight Lines,

    Lyle
