    July Report
The offshore fishing certainly excelled with good catches of Cod, Pollack and Ling given the opportunity to anchor these marks big congers and some good size Bream came aboard. The banks around Poole produced a good selection of Rays, plenty of sport with Tope and general fishing. Bass still have yet to appear in numbers but now the mackeral and Scad shoals have arrived these should show up, just a reminder anglers are restricted to 3 bass per person. Locally we have had plenty of fun with small bream, plaice, gurnards and mini species these provide a good days fishing and can be a lifeline when conditions are not favourable. Poole Harbour is fishing well and acts as a safe haven for charter boats , using really light gear you will be surprised by the amount and number of different species caught each trip.
    Come and enjoy the fishing

    Report on-board Predator

A great day afloat for the lads from Bournemouth who beat their own boat record for number of rays boated.

After a late start (weather forecast wrong again!!) we set off across Swanage bay in search of bait. After a short while we found enough mackerel for the day and dropped anchor at our chosen mark. It wasn't long before the rays moved in on our fresh bait. Actioned continued all day and a total of 30 rays were boated photographed and returned. The previous best for the lads was 27. We managed 3 different species; undulate, spotted & thornback.

  • 07/2015 Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Jul 2015 by Lyle Stantiford

    Report on-board Supanova II

Ages since the last report, my apologies for that, things have just been Chaos here in Weymouth!

May was superb month with the wrecking just superb for Cod, and some really nice fish too. On one day the boat record was broken three times topped off by a cracker of 29lb for Andy Haydon.
Inshore was good for Bream for a few weeks until they had spawned and moved off which is the norm. With the arrival of a few mackerel the tope fishing went bonkers and continues to be steady now. Weymouth isn't famed for its big fish fishing and it gets rubbished by a lot of customers because they can't eat it. However when they get a 40b tope on they soon change their tune.

The channel islands run produced some decent flatty fishing throughout May, not mega numbers of fish but some very good quality. One day produced 26 turbot and Brill with 21 being keepers and 6 of those double figure fish.

Throughout June the Cod fishing continued and inshore there was plenty to target including Bream, Bass, Turbot, Brill, Tope, Undulate and Blonde Rays, and a nice few mackerel.

Now as July winds down with a fair bit of wind this month the wrecking has begun to tail off but still decent numbers of Cod for those that want it. Bream is getting better and better with each trip, inshore wrecks have produced great sport on the anchor with Bream, Bass, Pollack, congers and tope all featuring. A few decent sessions on the turbot and Brill locally has seen some cracking fish, the best being an 11b Brill once again for Andy Haydon, narrowly avoiding the boat record by just 2 ounces.

A nice day anchored on the wrecks yesterday produced 60+ congers for the group of 6 with the best fish about 60b's.

Here's Hoping August continues with great fishing and decent weather.

As always thanks to all that keep Weymouth on the map as the finest angling port in the country with the finest boats, skippers and facilities the modern angler could ask for. Keep on coming and experience the variety and quality any other port could only dream of offering.

    Tight Lines,

    Lyle

  • 19/07/2015 Fishing Report by Philip Higgins on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

19 Jul 2015 by Philip Higgins

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

This week has seen both extremes of fishing with the weather on Monday keeping the Mistress Linda in Poole harbour catching many mini species and a few nice Plaice to midweek which a charter of young lads had me doubting my sanity before the trip but to be honest they were excellent company and great to have onboard they did get a bit excited catching mackeral in numbers making me work hard unhooking and untangling. The Tope were absent in big numbers on our planned day but we did catch a few and swopped a few fishy stories. The weekend offshore trips have produced some cracking numbers of Cod and Pollack no big fish best around the 10lb mark but great sport on light gear, because the fishing was so good we decided to have an hour on your oldest most knackered lure ( an idea given to me by a well respected local skipper) this proved a great laugh and still produced fish.
Come and join us aboard for a trip either inshore or offshore before the best of the fishing declines.
    All the best
    Philip Higgins
