The weather looks like it might be settling down towards the weekend lets hope so

Two days on the offshore wrecks resulted in a mediocre day on the first and a steady days pollack fishing on the second. The fish averaged 2-4lb with a few fish in the 5-7lb bracket. A mix of lures worked both days from 4 inch sidewinders to firetail jellies. Some pollack were also taken at around slack water by live prawn fished on skinny pink feathers. On the first day the fish were feeding on small sandeels. On the second day further west and in deeper water they had a mixture of prey, sprats, deepwater prawns and even a small lamprey was found in one pollack's mouth. One codling fell to mackerel baited hokkais. One or two mackerel also showing.
Weather is continuing to prove challenging with many days of northerly winds but on the days we are venturing fishing is proving to be ok.
I have room on 10 hour midweek trips on May 15th and May 30th. -

Report on-board Flamer IV
MAY 2012 - Owen Poplett and crew from Sussex enjoyed a mixed days fishing aboard Flamer IV the day after a storm.Amazingly the sea state was very good and the sun came out, however the water was very cloudy and coloured up so the majority of the days fishing was done at anchor on a bank and a reef.Several species were caught including a 10Ib Small Eyed Ray and a 4Ib 12oz Spotted ray both caught by Paul Francis.A conger and several good size Spurdogs and Smooth Hounds and the usual dogs and pouts.A couple of drifts were done which produced two plaice and a dab. Most of the lads landed their first and/or Personal Best Spurdogs.Owen landed the biggest Spur which weighed 17Ib with the successful bait being two Ammo calamari squid. All the Spurs and smooth hounds were released alive.Owen is pictured with his big Spur.

Stag Trip from Blaenau Ffestiniog NorthWales.
We left Liverpool marina at 11am and headed out into Liverpool Bay,
Our plan was to see what fish are about. The lads where keen to get started so we stopped at a mark and tried for cod with a 4 lb codling hitting the surface within minutes,we tried various marks throughout the day, with the best cod just under 6 lb.
we also caught a lobster which was well in size, which went in the pot. 8 species in all where caught,Overall a good day by a group of first time anglers. -

Just a quick update for the last couple of weeks.

Have been out when the weather allowed us to, fishing marks around the river and rock channel. One trip over the bar had mackeral early on. Fishing has been quiet due to the change over from winter to summer. Expecting the fishing to pick up any day now. The times we have got out, plenty of dabs, plaice, flounder, whiting, doggies and the occasional rays and codling have made an appearance.
Roll on the warm weather!
