  • 01/08/2020 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

1 Aug 2020 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

A great days fishing for the lads on the Shy-Torque III today.

Some mackerelling at the bouy first followed by a couple of inshore wrecks. The lads taking 15 or so fish from them. Then a ride out to try some ground we haven't worked for some time.
The lads picked away nicely for 3 or 4 hours with ling boated to just over 10 lbs and cod to just over 7 lbs.

Young Jorge Blenkin had a slowish start but ended up showing the lads how to go on and boated the heaviest today at 10 lb 3 oz. Well done to the young guns!!

    Goerge is pictured inset.

    Cheers

  • 01/08/2020 Fishing Report by Kevin McKie on Size Matters (Craobh Haven, Argyll & Bute)

1 Aug 2020 by Kevin McKie

    Report on-board Size Matters

The Bass fishing from Liverpool is excellent at the moment catching up to 53 Bass per trip and many more missed or hooks pulled due to the bass being lightly hooked.

The anglers are only allowed to keep two each and returning the rest, we are catching them on bait and lures using light spinning tackle to enjoy the fight.

Wrecking is going well 70 to 80 fish per trip for the table Cod to 8lb 8oz, Pollack to 7lb, Ling to 6lb and the odd Coalfish to 4lb.

Tope fishing is starting to slow, we are not getting the big numbers we where a few weeks ago but we are getting 4 to 5 per trip up to 41lb.

On one of the days we went tope fishing we couldn’t get through the Huss to 11lb we had over 70, not matter what we tried as soon as the bait hit the sea bed they where on to it.

The offshore mixed fishing is good with up to 15 species a day pretty much standard and if the anglers are willing to scale down for mini species we could see over 20 species a day.

We caught our fish Chub Mackerel in Liverpool bay, it’s the first one I have heard of in this area, we have caught them before from Plymouth, all we need now is the Tuna to turn up in Liverpool ha ha.

From October 1st to February 28th we will be fishing the mighty Mersey for Cod, Rays, Whiting and Dabs.

If you book a Wrecking, Bass or mixed off shore trip during this time and the weather is too bad then we will be fishing in the Mersey as a back up weather permitting.

We have teamed up with Liverpools top accommodation provider "Serviced Living Liverpool" who offer 5 star apartments at internet beating rates.

Located in Liverpools Baltic Triangle area (one of the coolest places in UK) and only a few hundred metres from Liverpool Marina, give them a call on 0151 374 2401 and quote Size Matters book an apartment at the best rate.

  • 30/07/2020 Fishing Report by Colin Penny on Flamer IV (Weymouth, Dorset)

30 Jul 2020 by Colin Penny

    Report on-board Flamer IV

Peter Strickson and friends from Yorkshire joined Flamer IV for a 4 day Angling Break. Unfortunately the first day was too windy to go out but the remaining three days went ahead as planned. We fished several Reef and Bank marks at anchor and on the drift. Quite a few species were caught and included Black Bream, Turbot, Tope, Congers, Gurnards, Smooth Hounds, Bull Huss, Scad, Mackerel etc along with three variety of Rays which included Undulate Rays which most of the guys had never caught before. Pictured is Peter Strickson with a 10Ib 1oz Undulate Ray.

Angling Breaks - come and catch a variety of fish. Weymouth Angling Breaks - Book Now, Don't miss Out,*** NOW TAKING BOOKINGS FOR 2021 ***
A few days away fishing out of Weymouth along with the social side is a nice trip to do. The variety of fishing and the amount of different species caught at Weymouth is probably second to none. There are plenty of places to stay which are angler friendly and some excellent places to wine and dine around the harbour and in Weymouth Town centre. If you want to try a Weymouth Angling Break then contact me, I cater for whole boat charters and individuals. If you are interested in doing a trip with a difference please contact me for full details. Planning your trip well in advance is essential you need to arrange your boat/place booking and your accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment, some of my regular groups plan their trips at least 12 months in advance, this allows them to discuss with me the best tides for the type of fishing they are targeting.

  • 07/2020 Fishing Report by John Peck on Lady Margaret (Poole, Dorset)

    Jul 2020 by John Peck

    Report on-board Lady Margaret

The fishing continues to be very good. We have been concentrating mainly on plaice and are still catching in big numbers. If anything the quantities have increased during the month but the average size has decreased slightly. All of the local areas are producing well. This relaxing type of fishing involves minimal travelling time to the fishing grounds and is done using very light tackle. Most of the marks offer shelter from Northerly and Westerly winds so it has a lot going for it.

There are lots of small plaice around but also some heavyweights. The best plaice we have caught this month was a superb fish of 5lb 6oz and we have had several other 3lb fish although we haven't seen any big ones during the last few trips.

The bass fishing also continues to be good. Again, lots of small fish around but we have caught a good number of medium weight fish to just under 7lb. The big fish continue to elude us but hopefully we will see some bigger fish on board soon.

The mackerel have been sporadic. Sometimes they are in good numbers very close to the port sometimes they are much more unpredictable. Most of the plaice trips have produced a few good sized ones very close to the shore on ragworm baits. There are also a lot more scad featuring in the mackerel fishing sessions.

We have only fished a couple of sessions at anchor in relatively shallow water. These produced rays and small tope.

30 Jul 2020 by Nick Gough

    Report on-board Skylark

Some belting fish on todays offshore trip

Best cod today was 11lb but we had several good size fish including a belting pollock over 9lb

Baited feathers seemed to be working best today.

With wrecking tides this week hopefully we get some settled weather to keep going offshore but unfortunately we keep getting easterly spells at the moment.
