So, I have to post some bad news... The boat has suffered catastrophic mechanical failure and was today, put on a low loader and transported to Nobles boat yard at Girvan. Repair time and refloating dates are as of yet unknown. Prior to this disaster, mackerel were prolific, plenty of pollack and coalies on the wrecks, huss to 13lb,tope to 40lb,spurs to a whopping 23lb!!,pollack out of the weeds to 4lb,plenty of pan size haddock along with all the other usual summer species plus a lone dab and a big scorpion fish. We also landed 2 common skate at 138lb and 106lb on big coalfish flappers.... Hard fighting males in only 55ft of water! When I know more, I will let you all know dates to work to but all trips are suspended at the moment... I apologise to one and all for the inconvenience caused and I value your support.

When Bass fishing we are catching up to 33 Bass per trip on bait and lures using light spinning gear, we even managed to catch a Smoothound on a lure that was a first for me.
Tope fishing has been none stop, I had a group of individuals onboard who had never caught Tope before, after a few hours they got into the swing of things and managed 14 Tope to 42lb on the boat and pulled the hook on 8.
Wreck fishing is going well 80+ fish per trip Pollack to 9lb, Cod to 5lb, Ling to 7lb, Coalfish to 4lb, we did have some 23 hour wrecking trips booked this week but the weather has cancelled one so far so hopefully we will get out on the next one.
Off shore mixed fishing is good for Rays to 12lb, Huss to 10lb, Gurnard, Whiting, Dabs, Mackerel, Herring, Scad, Pout, Weaver and Dogfish. -

Wind much fresher than forecast which made some challenging conditions for a good while this morning.
The lads cracked on and pulled out some nice fish though.
They all landed tope up to the 40lb mark. 1 fish decided to get tangled and come in backwards to the boat with me carefully handlining her in...to then untangle her self the boat and take another 100 yards of line for another scrap! We did very well landing that one as the skin had started to fray his mainline!
After the lads had their tope fix we tried an inshore wreck where they all went home with a feed of Pollack and a solitary codling fillets. There were plenty of coalies hitting the feathers too, but only to around 1lb and a half.
Current operating procedures due to covid mean I am running private charters only with a max of 5 customers.
Prices whilst running with limited numbers are £200 5 hours. £300 8 hours for the boat.
Rod hire £5pp. Lugworm £3 a pack. Or feel free to bring your own tackle and bait.
If i am allowed to carry more passengers then individual trips can resume and I can allow more people onto charters with prices adjusted accordingly.
Thanks. Jack.

Hi Anglers During last week Tope fishing a lot of them about this year especially now. Offshore as many as 30 out in one day various sizes 12 lbs to 35 lbs. But inshore some real monsters turning up not in as many numbers but very large ones in excess of 50 lbs with a lot lost with bite outs. Mackerel still bit iffy at times especially on spring tides but plenty of whiting and the Tope taking them well. As many Bull Huss as you want as well often a nuisance when Tope fishing. Pollack coalfish wrasse on reefs. Individual and whole boat trips available PHONE 07974477081 or MESSENGER ON FACEBOOK PAGE ROY SMITH
