    Report on-board Northeastern

Air show weekend and we have had to cancel both today's trip and tomorrow trip. Gutted is a understatement.

We sailed yesterday and had a cracking day fish of the day was a 10.5lb ling and followed by Kevin Dodger Rogerson with a lovely clean run 8.5lb cod. Endless quality stamp cod and ling made up the catch with the normal Macky keeping us up with fresh bait which has really made a difference used at the correct stage of the tide on hokkai rigs. It's really just a matter of time until we click a good one from the wrecks.

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

Some lovely plump codling knocking about at the moment here at Whitby.

My good mate Nigel Hall and my lad Adam knocking a good box out between them the other day. Most of the fish falling to the shads.

The ground around the 3 to 5 mile producing a reasonable amount of fish so plenty of fishing time too!!

Check the calendar for any availability and as ever we will sail with a minimum 4 anglers. Individuals are always welcome on the boat as well as any newcomers to the game.
We will sharpish get you into the swing of it!

    Cheers for now,
    Rich

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Bringing us up to date been extremely hot weather has put the fish off a little bit on the weaker tides. Mackerel have been patchy along with only one tope run so far very poor for this time of year but see what august brings. Nice few bass all returned of course due to the ban, biggest just under 9lb not quite double figure. Plenty of smoothounds best bait by far is peeler but still waiting for our hen crabs to moult been so strange the weather and how its affected everything. Still catching whitting on the inside on worm baits they dont seem to go away now have completely lost the spotty dogs now bit of a relief really to be honest. Odd thornback still coming in so mixed sport all round really. Picture today is of Anthony down on hoilday with decent bass of 8.5lb pb for him well done. Looking forward to August Monday 6th where we have a specialist tope trip £65 per head few places still available tide is perfect thats why date is chosen hope weather plays ball. Will organise few night trips if you want to go on the list please email or text will get first refusal picking tides so slack water is middle of the session to give you best fishing up or down the tide. Leave about 6pm home midnight so you can go to work next day ! Thats about it got a windy weekend ahead will see what happens. Until then tight lines everyone.

  • 07/2018 Fishing Report by Kevin McKie on Size Matters (Craobh Haven, Argyll & Bute)

    Jul 2018 by Kevin McKie

    Report on-board Size Matters

[This report was written when Size Matters was operating from Plymouth]

Just steaming back to Plymouth from Guernsey after another cracking trip.

I had a group of regulars on from Bristol who fish with me every month.

This time they brought with them a load of Jonny Sadler home made plonker lures.

They looked like a type of slow jig with a mackerel shrink wrap on them, they weighed 7oz to 10oz with two assist hooks on.

Over slack water they where deadly especially on the inshore reefs around Jersey.

Andy Cottle caught a monster 7lb 4oz Ballan Wrasse on the plonker lure!!

The photo doesn’t do it justice it was 22 inch long and as fat as a rugby ball, by far the biggest Wrasse I have ever seen and a fish of a life time.

The next drift seen Andy catch his first ever John Dory and the following drift Dennis and Sean both caught John Dory!!

Three John Dory’s in two drifts, the plonker lure was doing the business.

Each day for about an hour over slack water the lads used the plonker lure over the inshore reefs accounting for, Ling to 25lb, Pollack to 13lb 8oz, Cod to 12lb.

    The Banks produced, Blonde Ray,
    Undulated Ray, Turbot,
    Gurnard and the dreaded Dogfish.

At times the Gurnard and Dogfish where a big pain stealing our Turbot baits.

The Bream fishing was very good especially on the smaller tides, most where around 1lb but there was good numbers of fish to 2lb.

The wrecks on the way over and on the way back produced, Ling to 20lb, Pollack to 12lb and Cod to 6lb.

Every time we go to Guernsey we are always trying to find new marks to fish to give our anglers the best opportunity to catch there dream fish.

Sadly all our Guernsey trips for 2019 are fully book by very wise anglers who know that,
Size Matters is the boat that lets the fishing do the talking.

    Thanks
