    Report on-board DAWN TIDE II

    A Quick one

The offshore Bass fishing has started with a bang aboard Dawn Tide II we are seeing plenty coming aboard a decent stamp too!

You have to put in the miles for this fishing & unfortunately it is a little more expensive than a general trip.

But personally i think Its 100% better than scratching around locally for fish that are moving off!

Lures & worms have both been doing the trick, some days lures are better - some days its the worm baits but it all depends on the tides & conditions on the day.
Every day is different out there some will fish better than others there is only one way to find out!

This offshore bass fishing will last until December
Im fully booked until midd November but keep an eye out as i do get the odd reschedule or cancellation

    Report on-board Galloper

With the weather being so nice I have been flat out working long hours on the Galloper so I apologize for the lack of posts. It has been glorious out at sea the last couple of weeks though I must admit at times we have had to work hard for the fish. The main bulk of hounds seems to have moved out now although we are still seeing some nice fish though n places and expect to do so for some time yet. The warm weather has put back the arrival of the autumn whiting, dogfish and rays although they won't be far away. Our catches have been made up by the bass really in various sizes and amounts. Some days have been exceptionally good. Other days we have had to work harder to find them. Currently my next spaces are on Friday 15/09 @ £60pp after that I have spaces in October
    Next spaces are

  • 10/09/2023 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

10 Sep 2023 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

Yesterday was the second day of this year’s September angling competition.

As is fairly often on the Shy-Torque, the team was made with a mixed group of lads.

Ability wise, all the lads were well seasoned so we chose the offshore wrecking option for the day.

Distances yesterday were such that we would only have time to try two, possibly three wrecks over the course of the trip.
First stop was a fairly big lump of scrap and it threw around 25 fish out which wasn’t a bad start.

A couple of better looking fish were hooked, but as is so often the case, slipped the hooks!
    Nevertheless some nice fish taken.

We tried the next wreck which is a short hop of two miles and it fished relatively slowly with only ten fish or so boated.
Unusual for that wreck as it normally produces the best out of the two.

We slipped back to the first one and took a further fifteen fish from it to end the day.

No big fish boated as such but the sweep on the boat organised by my mate Andy Davies was taken by our most regular angler Paul Mawson from Bridlington with a Ling at 10lb 8oz.
    Well done to him.

All in all, a nice day on the fish and good to see more Codling than Ling!

Two other skippers and myself are organising an “Uptiding” competition which runs from 26.11.23 to 03.12.23.

If you fancy a run out for a go, give me a bell, email, or drop me a text.

    Cheers
    Rich.

  • 10/09/2023 Fishing Report by Andy Savage on Sea Urchin IIl (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

10 Sep 2023 by Andy Savage

    Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl

A much tougher day on the wrecks today, but still with some fantastic weather.

A full boat of mixed angling abilities, some having never fished before and a few that have fished since God was a lad! We struggled with the Mackerel today, and it took us far longer to get them, than I would have liked. We had a stop on a wreck half way to our intended destination to try and get a few more, then ended up staying for an hour picking away with two or three Ling each drift. Nothing huge, with fish to around 8lb.

The Ebb tide eased right off and it was the first hour of the Flood Tide which saw an increase in bites and fish. Unfortunately, the average stamp of the fish wasn’t what it has been recently. A lot of the Ling (we only got two or three Codling all day again) were in the 3-5lb range with an odd better one. Mackerel on Muppet bait traces dominated, but Squid accounted for a fair few for Ian Kellock.

The last move of the day to a big old piece of scrap finally gave us what we had come for……..a “Super-Drift”!! First rod to slam over was Michael Townend’s, followed a few seconds later by Ben Cope. Both lads took their time and played their fish steadily. Michael got his 13lb Ling in the net first and then Ben “Top Trumped” him with a 16lb 4oz Ling. It was a great result for some solid angling.

The weather and company were fantastic once again. Thanks very much lads.

  • 09/09/2023 Fishing Report by Andy Savage on Sea Urchin IIl (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

9 Sep 2023 by Andy Savage

    Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl

Another cracking day out today. With almost perfect weather and sea/tide conditions the lads from the Keel Inn Fishing Club in Barnsley were “chomping at the bit” to get started.

We ran back to the six mile stream wrecks and “en route” I spotted my first Tuna at Whitby breaching about 100yds in front of me, which a couple of the lads spotted as well….awesome.
We arrived just as the small 4.3m Ebb tide began to ease off, so the boat was fairly static, with little drift. First drop down and Tog Edwards was instantly into his first fish, which turned out to be a nice Ling to get things underway.

We fished the wreck for the next 45 minutes or so, taking two or three fish each drift. The biggest fish were around the 9lb mark with “Chips” having a brace of them. I chose to move us on just before the Flood tide came through, to see if we could pick up a bonus big Ling which have come on slack water the last two days. Alas, we tried two wrecks in the next half an hour for a few strap Ling and Pouting. Still……nothing ventured, nothing gained!

For the remainder of the day, we kept on the move, fishing a further three wrecks. In the main, we picked away a few fish everywhere we went; the sport was steady, but not brilliant. The Codling were pretty much absent again today, so we relied mainly on the Ling to keep the bites coming.

Kevin Simpson was picking away steadily on the back of the boat, and his playing style meant I couldn’t see him playing the fish from my vantage point, but I noticed him straining quite hard with one particular fish, so I went to investigate. There was a nice bend in the rod and some telltale big fish lunging. Peering down into the crystal clear water I watched the colour coming up and it kept getting bigger and bigger. With about 20ft to go we could see what looked a decent Ling approaching. We shuffled the fish into the net and on the scales, the Ling went 15lb 3oz. A great capture for sure and it kept everyone motivated for the rest of the day.

Fresh Mackerel accounted for the majority of the fish as expected, but Squid and Mackerel also did a few.

A big thanks to the lads for a great day out in great company.
