Report on-board Ocean Odyssey
On Tuesday 15th August the Odyssey team with 2 willing anglers on board took a recce trip out to the Celtic deeps in search of tuna. The signs were promising as previous shark trips showed that there were some around.

1 hour into trolling spreader bars we had our first run of the day. After emptying over 300yards of line on its first run and a few others also Julian soon had it to the boat and the fish was tagged, revived and released to fight another day.
An hour later we had another screaming run with a tuna but sadly we suffered a hook drop and it was the case of the “the one that got away”. We did a bit od drifting with dead baits but no tuna. We did manage a bonus 100lb blue shark so a nice consolation prize!
A great day out and hopefully the numbers now increase as the tuna season is wales tends to kick off from September onwards.

Report on-board Braveheart II
After a windy weekend we were blessed with 3 days of settled weather that allowed us to get out amongst the fish. We had our 3rd stingray in 3 weeks yesterday with a 4th 10 minutes later lost at the net estimated to be 25lb + both caught by Terry Top Rod . We have seen plenty of species on BRAVEHEARTII this last few days, including, Stingray , Smoothound, Bass, Dover Sole, Thornback Ray, Mackerel, Scad, Dab, Eel, Pouting, whiting and the good ol lesser spotted dog fish.
View Boats Page
The best Smoothound was on Tuesday with a spent 17lb female, easily a 20+ if it wasn't pupped out so still some good fish around to pull your string and don't they hang on!
When weather confined, our local trips have been really relaxing, with some nice fish over the rails these are good fun trips usually around half an hour steam from port and are really popular with family's and anglers who want to sneak 5 hrs fishing in after work etc .
The diary is solid this month but still some boat availability in September . Any queries, don't hesitate to call ☎️07970 728707 or DM
Tight lines to all and see you out there

It was a bit more like Summer today…. light winds, sunny and warm.

The tides are building and we had a 5.2m tide to deal with. Not massive, but a day of mixed fishing between wrecks and rough ground on the cards. After a bit longer than normal, we managed to get some Mackerel for bait from the Bell Buoy. No strings, just one’s and two’s.
Slack water was imminent so I didn’t want to miss it by running off to distant wrecks. Our first one was just over a mile out and we picked up some small Codling and Ling. We moved on another half a mile after twenty minutes, as the bites tailed off. First drop on the next wreck saw seven rods out of ten go into fish!
We had a great time for the next forty five minutes taking plenty of fish. The pick of the fish was a cracking 10lb 8oz Cod to Soran Barber. Once the drift speed increased we shuffled out for a few drifts on the three mile ground; but we only had a handful of fish. Once the drift got to 1.9 knots we pushed out to the seven mile area.
Just like on Monday, it turned out to be a happy hunting ground for a few hours. The baited Hokkai’s were producing mainly small fish, so slowly but surely most of the lads switched over to muppet bait traces. As always, Squid and Mackerel did the business. Most drifts saw 6-8 fish come up, with Mat Rodgers taking a 9lb Ling as the biggest fish off the ground.
We ran back inside for the second slack water, to fish some more wrecks. The first two weren’t brilliant, but the last one threw up some nice Codling to 6lb.
All in all, it wasn’t a bad day. Everyone had plenty to take home and we had a decent stamp of fish.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

It’s been a while but today was more like summer should be, today was planned as Plaice and Trigger Fish we found£ the Plaice in reasonable numbers but no Triggers fortunately we landed some nice Cod, Couches Bream , Gurnards and 100s of bait robbing Bream. The congers gave a good account on the light gear. Overall a fish filled day and made better by the Lionesses winning. As the weather goes pear shaped again short term more light line Trigger trips are planed if you fancy a day out with them as the main target please get in touch. -

The Mackerel were back on the inshore marks again yesterday and with just one drift next to the bouy we were good to go.
However, it was a very slow start to the day, mainly down to the amount of seals we had on the grounds and after three or four drifts for nothing much at all we decided to run away from the black beasties!
The next stop was seal free thank goodness and the lads enjoyed two or three decent drifts with some nice Cod and Ling boated. A couple of doubles boated there too which is always good to see. Some nice Cod to just shy of 9.5lbs off that bit of ground.
That strip of ground did dry up on us eventually so we moved to another small ledge on the 8 mile ground.
It fished well too with no seals insight at all.
The baited rigs fished the best without a doubt. The Shads struggling in comparison.
Two of our very regular anglers Bill Barraclough and Paul Mawson fishing the best on the boat.
Before yesterday’s trip Paul was holding the fish of the month for August with a nice Ling of 12lb 2oz.
Bill overtook him at lunchtime with a nice Ling that was nudging 14lbs and went into the lead!
At 1.0pm Paul took hold of a fairly heavy looking fish and when boated, I figured it looked heavier than Bill’s! It was actually longer too.
We had to wait until we returned to harbour for some calm water to verify who’s was the better fish.
At the dockside, Fergus our crewman weighed the pair and they both topped out at 13lb 15oz!
Twins!! Unbelievable!!
I suggested that if no one took a better fish before the end of the month, they could share the free trip to which they both agreed.
Well done lads. Some excellent fishing from you both as ever!!
Fantastic day with constant banter and giggles!
The September competition is creeping up on us fast. 9th - 24th inc.
If you fancy a go at the £1000.00 first prize in that, drop me line via the text, Watsapp or mobile. Email too.

Hopefully you can enjoy some of the summer weather we are currently having. It certainly makes a nice change to the very unsettled summer so far.

Thankfully we haven't had to cancel much at all. The fishing has been very good, we benifit from using a big catamaran and have lots of sheltered marks available to fish.
There have been some quality fish around too. There are lots of schoolie bass inshore this time of year. Often we have seen 50 or more in just a short session on feathers and lures. These have produced some sizable bass along with some very decent fish. We had several trips where fish of 5, 6 or even 7.8lb showed. These are cracking fish to catch anywhere let alone the estuaries! Along with the bass we have seen some smooth-hounds and rays. The rays have surprised us by their numbers considering the time of year. This is probably a result of the cooler weather we have been experiencing as the dogfish have moved back in already too. Fishing these inshore marks also produces other lesser seen species such as eels and Dover sole. As I often say, I enjoy the challenge of finding a few decent fish when conditions are against us in areas I might not otherwise fish. It's also very rewarding to see the experience pay off with good results on what could be a hard day. Fair play to all of the anglers who have joined us. Even in some grim conditions they tried their hardest and caught me some fish. The right attitude makes all the difference as always.
Hopefully we get some more settled weather like over the coming months but even if we don't I am sure we will be catching fish.
I have spaces over the coming weeks so get in touch if you want to join us please.

Fishing Report by Andy Savage

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
After a ten day layoff for big Spring tides and poor weather, we were back at it on Sunday.
View Boats Page
We planned to spend the day on both wrecks and rough ground. A fresh wind to start the day made the wrecks unviable, so we ran to an area of rough ground at five miles. The majority went down with baited Hokkai’s and we started to pick away nicely at some small Codling. Some keepers, but plenty of throwbacks.
The wind eased significantly after an hour or so, and the conditions stayed fairly settled for the rest of the day. We fished rough ground and also wreck hopped around slack, but we couldn’t put up anything other than small Codling and Ling. The biggest fish being a Codling of around the 5lb mark to Andy Collinge.
Today was a complete contrast and after seeing how much rain was forecast, I put my waterproof pants on!! For once, the forecast was right and Alan with his group of friends had the boat for the day and got a bit wet!! But to be fair, that didn’t mater a bit. We initially had a couple of drifts on a wreck, but the wind over the tide made the drift too quick at 1.4 knots, so rough ground it was.
Firstly the three mile ground produced nicely for half a dozen drifts. We took plenty of Codling and Ling each run up to 7lb. The drift speed built each run and when the drift got to 1.9 knots the bites stopped, so we ran to the seven mile ground. With a better drift speed and a perfect drift line, we clumped them for a couple of hours. Some anglers taking 3 fish in a drift! Nothing huge was landed, but there were some quality clean fish caught.
Biggest Codling to Alan at 8lb 12oz and biggest Ling to Joe at 9lb 4oz. All the usual suspects produced today, Squid, Mackerel, Hokkai’s, Muppet traces and Shads.
All in all a brilliant day out in brilliant company.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl
