Report on-board Galloper
As I am sure you have heard by now there are a few cod showing at the moment. This is of course a very welcome sight after a few lean years. only time will tell if this spring run is a sign of things to come or not. One thing is for certain and that is they are here now and they wont catch themselves. With the wind stuck in the east for a few days we have been able to take full advantage of the shelter offered by the blackwater estuary and surrounding waters with a big comfortable catamaran to fish from. Catches have included the usual dogfish and whiting (although in small numbers) one or two pouting and even a bass. Thorn-backs are in varying numbers from day to day with a good day seeing 10-12 rays and the biggest pushing 12lbs. numbers of codling have been the best for several years and a nice stamp too.
View Boats Page
Our best day so far is 25 codling between 8 rods, I have seen people travel many miles around the country for far less in recent years. of course with the afore mentioned other species making the day up we have enjoyed some great sport often while other boats are stuck in port. Who knows how long this fishing will last so I would suggest getting out there and enjoying it while its there folks. Its hard to beat a good days uptiding for codling on a winters day.
Further afield we are chasing spurdogs, hounds, rays and other species. There is of course a good chance of seeing a cod off there too and with any luck a proper one at that.
I have individual spaces and possibility of full boat bookings over the coming weeks and months if you want to get out.
Please be advised that a steady trickle of dates are filling up for 2023 so please get in touch asap if you require a specific date.
Remember it is often worth giving me a shout if you are cancelled else where and still wish to get out, as we have lots of sheltered fishing available and a big catamaran which makes it even more comfortable.

Fishing Report by Andy Bridson

Report on-board Patricia Rose
2023 Winter Season
View Boats Page
We took advantage of this year's lack of fish in Jan to get Patricia Rose out of the water. She's due her 5 year MCA inspections and recoding, so some serious investment went into her. Shiny rebalanced props, rudder, and rope cutter upgrades, including new hydraulic lines. She's been back in the water now nearly a month and back to finding some quality fish over this tricky time of year. There's still some great Blonde Rays around despite commercial pressure for the smaller tides with high 20s still being caught. Your other option on small tides now is to look East to the Skerries for Plaice, Turbot and Ray action. Inshore can be tough this time of year but for those willing to try, we've still had Pollok to 16lb and double figure Cod. What people want from the offshore wrecks is hard fighting Pollock and in 220 foot these fish certainly test your gear, biceps as well as your angling skill. Check out our availability calendar for details and WhatsApp me when you are ready to book or want more info. As ever tight lines. Report on-board DAWN TIDE II
The Codling are showing in good numbers finally!
View Boats Page
we had 23 on the last trip a very good sign!
They aren’t all massive fish but some reasonable size ones to 4lb
Even so its a welcome catch in-between the Rays!
Fishing has finally & really picked up the last few weeks!
Plenty of Thornbacks showing locally on the usual marks & herring bait doing the trick as always
Codling seem to have made a strong appearance the last few weeks squid & lug seems best at the moment.
Moving into spring is looking exciting with Codling, Rays, Hounds, Early bass & maybe the spurdogs too!
Diary is getting very busy so booking in advance is recommended but do keep an eye out for last minute spaces, although at the moment they are getting snapped up pretty quick!
Contact 07523488290 for upcoming availability

Report on-board Piscary
Traditionally we haven't done inshore trips in February and March but this weekend a few keen anglers decided to give it a go. We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of fish caught, about 12 species on the boat Congers, Ballan Wrasse, Plaice, Dab, Pollack, Whiting and more 3 Beared Rockling! In the Piscary species hunt 2023 the boat tally is now 23, unbelievable for the time of year. Jay Hemming is now in the lead on 12, Andy Pedon is second on 11, Vernon Allan is third on 9. There are spaces coming up on Friday the 3rd of March hopefully offshore anchoring. Whole boat is available from the 6th to 10th of March.

There is plenty of life about both inshore as well as offshore. The dogfish are feeding well and there are several whiting about too. I do believe there are probably more whiting around but there is still plenty of feed midwater to distract them. there are one or two codling showing but these are occasional fish so please don’t come down expecting to fill the freezer though. it is always nice to see them and Reg had our first one of the year. the thorn-backs are moving inshore now with some respectable numbers showing if we can beat the netting boats to them. we have also seen several smooth-hounds and even lost our first bass of the year the other day.

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
As the new season begins we get the 1st of the winter storms, when we have been out locally the fish have been on the smaller side but plentiful to keep everyone interested but when we get it right and venture offshore the fishing is full on action with me not evening getting back to the cabin between landing fish, our last adventure saw a few new PBs and some 1sts for the anglers with Andy taking the honours biggest Spur, most Spurs and most fish the biggest fish of the day was an Eel between 50 and 55lb on light gear. As the tide and weather increased we shot back inshore for a couple of drifts and landed 2 Plaice in 15 minutes to end the day.

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
All the lads got completely “Wrecked” today……….With it being a really small tide with light SW winds, we took the opportunity to go out and have a look on a few wrecks.
View Boats Page
We haven’t been out wrecking for a couple of months, as the conditions haven’t been right to do it. Today was different; so all the lads on board were keen to get going. We started off at a wreck in the 10 mile stream, and as I set up the first drift, I had my fingers crossed, hoping we weren’t wasting our time. Although the drift line wasn’t quite what I expected, we still managed three Codling. It looked like there were a few fish at home!
We fished away for the next couple of hours, taking 3-5 fish a drift. Jimmy Yeung took the biggest Codling just over 8lb and Mark Ward took a cracking 9lb Ling amongst the other decent fish landed. A seal turned up and it went a bit quiet, so we moved on.
Next wreck and we were straight back in action. The wind and tide were against each other and the drift speed was very slow. We literally tiptoed across the wreck. It was perfect conditions…..This wreck was a little larger and appeared to have plenty of fish on it. Each drift saw a good stamp of 5-7 Codling coming up. Highlights were Mirek Marczyk helping himself to a 9lb Codling and an 8lb Ling, before snapping his rod on a Pouting!!!
The boys were catching on muppet bait traces and Hokkai’s baited with combinations of Squid, Mackerel, Mussel, Lug and with the water pretty clear, the Shads were also working well.
We opted to have one last move and we had a similar result. Plenty of quality Codling……. We only had one throwback all day! Mario Marczyk took a lovely double shot, with an 8lb Codling and a 5lb Codling. It took a bit of dragging up!
All in all it was a brilliant day out. The lads fished well, caught well and made it one to remember for me.
Thanks lads, see you back on board again soon.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl
