Its so good too see the Cod back after many years of nothing!
Im not sure how long they will stay around for they are pretty unpredictable after vanishing for 7 years
If they stay around for spring this fishing will be back like the old days again,
It’s possible to catch Cod, Rays, Bass, Spurdogs & hounds all on the same mark!!
I can’t wait too see if this happens really looking forward to it!
March is pretty much fully booked but i do have some availability in Early April for Prime spring fishing

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin

Report on-board Galloper
It is nice to see how the sight of a certain species can cause such a stir. Of course the word on many peoples lips at the moment is cod. To be more accurate they are codling and a very welcome sight too. They have been sorely missed so the current run of fish has got all manor of people dusting off their uptiders and scrabbling to get hold of some lugworm.

The other day I counted 22 boats fishing 1 square mile of water all for the promise of these fish.
As I often mention we benefit from lots of sheltered fishing here in the blackwater estuary and with a few codling and rays showing we took full advantage of that last week. Even strong easterly winds wouldn’t deter the lads with promise of a codling or two.
Numbers of codling have varied from day to day but we have seen numbers that exceeded my expectations several times. Along with the codling there have been plenty of whiting and dogfish and the occasional bass.
Jon Bish had a nice surprise the other day. in between the rays and a very good day on codling he pulled up an early lobster. Not a small one either and always a novelty to see on any trip. The lads had a great day with plenty of codling coming to the net along with a few rays in between.
Further afield we are chasing spurdogs, hounds, rays, bass and other species. There is of course a good chance of seeing a cod off there too and with any luck a proper one at that.
I have individual spaces and possibility of full boat bookings over the coming weeks and months if you want to get out.
Please be advised that a steady trickle of dates are filling up for 2023 so please get in touch asap if you require a specific date.
Remember it is often worth giving me a shout if you are cancelled else where and still wish to get out, as we have lots of sheltered fishing available and a big catamaran which makes it even more comfortable.

Busy week Last week we been averaging between 27-37 codling a trip the best trip so far was 41 Codling
Mixture of sizes to 4lb! For most fish lug a squid baits are working best but early the peeler crab got some better ones!
I Started off shallow around HW then as the tide drops we follow the fish to deeper water,
Few have been kept for the table no shame in that at all as several are returned id say around 70% been going back for the future!
Im out out all week if the forecast allows busy month ahead & pretty much fully booked for march now but i have the odd walk on space contact me on 07523488290 for availability

What a great weekend for all who were involved, well done to Saturday's crew for putting up with the rough weather but still managed to boat 12 codling.
Sunday's conditions were much calmer with another 17 codling boated, all fish over the 2 days were in the 2lb to 4lb range and in great condition , plus the usual whiting and doggies.
Again well done to both crews for a great weekend.

Jamie in the picture now called Jammy Jamie had 8 pollack and this rather large specimen fortunately the pollack had spawned as have most we are now catching. This was his first time Pollack fishing and he caught all his fish on a good range of Lures. ........ we have spaces on board Yellowfin charter Brighton for single or group's. Happy Fishing people.

Fishing Report by Geoff Sharp
on Sweet William (Tyne, Tyne and Wear)
4 Mar 2023 by Geoff Sharp
Report on-board Sweet William
We headed off late this morning, unfortunately missing the dawn fishing and back end of the ebb tide, to avoid the inconveniently timed slack water.

The conditions were great, very light to no wind on occasions, with a lazy swell which was forecast to build later in the afternoon.
We dropped the anchor on the the inner rough ground and immediately began to pick up some chunky whiting and pouting in good numbers for sport, with some of the guys using feather traces taking up to a dozen each.
Once the flood tide started pushing, the perfect pan sized codling started coming aboard, again in good numbers, with some of the guys taking about five or six each for the pan.
Last season, thankfully, we didn't see a single dogfish come aboard; only to have multiple come aboard in one session today!
At around 1:30pm, the 2.2 metre northerly swell forecast for Sunday started to roll through and build noticeably. Towards the back end of the flood the guys were pretty much fished out, so we headed home mid afternoon after a cracking day out!
If you’re interested in experiencing a day on the water, no matter your skill level, give the skipper Geoff a call, or message, on 07740 706007. -

First trip of what is going to be a very busy Season for us today. There is always a hint of trepidation when you haven’t been able to gather intelligence of what wrecks are fishing well and with around 2,000 to choose from off of our East Sussex coastline getting on the right ones, at the right time is absolutely critical.
View Boats Page
In 7 years we have never failed to catch the target species on wrecks so we had a good idea where to find the better fish but you never know for sure! We needn’t have worried, we were soon into good fish and the tally kept growing and fish sizes improving throughout the day. Great to see so many fantastic early season fish in excellent condition and some nice doubles amongst them. Best of the day went to Ian that tipped the scales 14lb 6oz and a new PB - well done Ian.
Great to catch-up with some of our regular anglers and to also welcome aboard some other fine chaps new to fishing with us, we look forward to welcoming you aboard again.
We are going to be making the most of this wrecking for the next couple of months before hitting the Bream, Bass, Turbot & Brill so if you would like to join for more of the same drop is a line and we will hook you up.
Species today - Pollock, Coalfish, Gurnard, Whiting and of course no wrecking trip complete without the mighty Pouting!! Lost count of numbers but we were into the second big fish box which is always a good sign.
Thanks all who sailed with us today and well done on your catches.
Best wishes
