    Report on-board Excel 2

February has been a hard month for us, some blinding good days but some very disappointing too !
Hopefully now we`re into March things will pick up. The Sprat shoals are starting to break up inshore so the cod fishing will turn back on again and the Skate are showing in greater and greater numbers.
The offshore wreck fishing is starting to improve with more and more cod showing.

As the evenings get longer we will be running our popular 4 hour Bass evening trips again. Ring for availability.

    Keep it tight,

    Dave.

    Report on-board PLAN B

Feburary was a tough month with patchy results. Codling are still around and when the weather permits the fishing can be reasonable. Last weekend despite poor weather conditions we managed a few codling, whiting and some enormous dabs.
Weather has stopped us trying the lower river marks so fingers crossed we will get down there next week and see if the skate have come back.

    Report on-board Supanova II

Well what a month February turned out to be for Pollack fishing.

The fishing on nearly every trip was fantastic with the stamp of fish much improved on the last couple of years.
Many people breaking their personal bests which after all is what angling is about isn't it??

The arrival of the sand eels now should see catches continue if not improve further, also the odd ling and cod have made a nice appearance and as March progresses we would hope that ling numbers improve.

Inshore fishing has begun with the first showings of Plaice and Turbot leading us to believe that March and April should see us in for some frantic action in Weymouth.

Fish of the month goes to dedicated angler Trad Casey of Weymouth who landed this cracking Pollack of 20lb 4oz on his first wrecking trip!!!

Thanks to all who braved the cold this month and continue to offer their custom to Supanova and the rest of the Weymouth fleet!!

Check out the new SUPANOVA FACEBOOK PAGE

Copy and paste this ling into your address bar and be up to date with hourly catches!!

With the forcast not to bad and a week spent trying to find the illusive cod we decided to go back to our favourite best chance of yes you guessed Corton Roads. Fished the ebb down producing whiting straight away some nice keepers amongst them. Sea state lovely with a steady South ,South East, wind with tide until slack water, when increasing wind on the flood started to make things uncomfortable resulting in a move inshore . Ended up only a few codling very patchy this week and bagfull of nice whiting, big thanks to Martin for organizing the trip for his family,Nigel,Brendon,Mark,Johnny, Steve,Jamie, and dad David, also to regulars Harry and John, was a good day of banter hope you all enjoyed yourselves. Good luck to Steve with your tour, keep your head down, be safe. All the best men, hope to see you soon. Jon.

    Report on-board Amino

February was a slow month fishing wise, with the Codling appearing to have disappeared in the numbers that were here in December and January, however with huge shoals of herrings and sprats around, its no wonder! Last week a shoal ran constantly across the finder for 20 minutes and the rods went mad rattling away with all the line bites we were getting...

However, yesterdays trip was showing some 'spring run' promise, with Jasons group landing 14 Codling, 11 of which were keepers upto 4.5lb and somewhere in the region of 20 Whiting and Pout with a few other fish lost. Lets hope the numbers that we saw before and after christmas return to give us some good sport in the next month or two.

If you're a small group of upto 5 anglers interested in a trip targeting the spring run of Codling off the East coast, give me a call.

  • 02/2012 Fishing Report by Ray Burn on Grey Viking (Brighton, East Sussex)

    Report on-board Grey Viking

Well the weather is getting much more settled and the fishing is better than this time last year with some good Pollack on the wrecks to upper doubles and many in the 8 to 10lb class. If you want a personal best Pollack now is the time to go, before they spawn in April. I've not got to the Cod wrecks yet as the weather has been wrong when the tides are right but we'll get there soon! Another surprise is how good the Plaice fishing is already, it could be a vintage year for Plaice following on from last years bumper catches. Looking ahead as the weather warms up we have Bream fishing to look forward from late April and I'm also doing a lot more PREMIUM DAYS limited to 7 anglers with own tackle only. These trips will be on the very best tides either wrecking offshore or species hunts in the general direction of Selsey - see my calendar on CBUK for details and dates.

Hope to see you soon !!
